Beyerdynamic Expands Its MMX Gaming Lineup With Two New Wireless Models At Gamescom 2025
Both headsets will be showcased this week at Gamescom in partnership with Freaks 4U Gaming. Four gaming stations at the show will be fitted out with the MMX 150 wireless headset so attendees can get firsthand experience of its abilities. The MMX 230 wireless headset will also make its public debut, giving visitors an exclusive first look at beyerdynamic's flagship MMX headset.
'These new MMX wireless cans represent beyerdynamic's ongoing commitment to delivering the best possible audio experience for gamers,' says beyerdynamic CEO Andreas Rapp. "With long-lasting battery life, superior sound, and precision-engineered microphones, these headsets give players the competitive edge they need in every scenario.'
Built For Comfort
The MMX 150 wireless headset is built for casual gaming and everyday listening. IT can deliver up to 50 hours of battery life, customizable tuning using the beyerdynamic app, plus a detachable 'Most Effective Tactic Available' or META microphone. The headset can be used for gaming, streaming or catching up on TV shows.
The headset's 40mm dynamic drivers were designed to deliver an immersive and detailed sound, having been developed and fine-tuned in Germany using premium materials and an ergonomic design for lasting comfort even through marathon gaming sessions.
Thanks to fast pairing and plug-and-play compatibility, gamers can get straight down to action on any console, mobile or PC without the need to set up. Clear communications are essential for gaming, so the detachable META VOICE microphone has sidetone that enables users to hear themselves in real time for precise callouts.
The microphone's boom arm can be positioned for optimal clarity or removed altogether, transforming the headset into a pair of over-the-ear headphones for everyday use. The headset's integrated electret condenser microphone has a 20–20,000Hz frequency range as well as instant mute control for privacy.
Engineered For Victory
The flagship MMX 230 wireless headset isn't just built for gaming. According to beyerdynamic, it's 'engineered for victory.' The headset features a replaceable battery that offers up to 60 hours of uninterrupted play. Thanks to the latest Bluetooth 6.0, the MMX 230 also provides low-latency connectivity, so players can get a split-second edge in any competitive scenarios.
Engineered in Germany, the MMX 230's specially tuned 40mm dynamic drivers provide an accurate sound, so gamers can track their enemies, hear combatants' footsteps and even react before their opponent does.
The lightweight construction, replaceable velour ear pads, and breathable materials ensure comfort during quick matches or all-night sessions. For pro gamers, the MMX 230 wireless integrates with professional setups, supporting PCs, consoles, interfaces and capture cards.
Using environmental noise cancellation, the microphone can filter out distracting background noises, ensuring gamers' voices get to cut through while blocking out unwanted distractions.
Both the beyerdynamic MMX 150 and MMX 230 wireless will be available exclusively in Europe and Canada via beyerdynamic's e-shop in Q4 2025 in a choice of Black and Arctic White colorways. The headsets include a detachable microphone, USB-C low-latency dongle, USB-A to USB-C adapter, 1.8m USB-C cable, and 1.8 m USB-C to 3.5mm jack cable. The MMX 150 wireless will be priced at $249.99 CAD / €179, while the MMX 230 wireless is $349.99 CAD / €249.00.

Google Loosens Play Store Grip in Europe
This article first appeared on GuruFocus. Alphabet (NASDAQ:GOOG) is loosening its grip on European app developers after regulators cracked down on its Play Store practices. Google said it's rolling out changes to its external offers program, giving developers more leeway to steer users toward their own platforms instead of being locked into Google's payment system. To qualify, developers still have to meet eligibility rules and sign up for the program. Warning! GuruFocus has detected 5 Warning Signs with NVDA. The shift comes after the European Commission ruled in March that Google was favoring its own services like Shopping, Hotels, and Flights in search results, while also blocking developers from directing customers elsewhere. Regulators accused the company of unfairly boosting its own ecosystem and overcharging rivals in the process. Google insists it's walking a fine line. Clare Kelly, senior competition counsel for Google in Europe, said the updates could carry risks for users, but stressed the company is trying to balance compliance with safety. Still, Brussels is watching closely, and Google's Play Store revenue model could look a lot different if these changes will want to see how the company adapts as EU oversight intensifies heading into 2025.

Today is your last chance to grab a PS5 before Sony's price hikes go into effect
Sony announced a $50 price increase on all PlayStation 5 'slim' models in the US starting tomorrow, August 21st. The upcoming prices for a PS5 Digital Edition, the standard PS5, and the PS5 Pro are $499.99, $549.99, and $749.99, respectively; however, you can avoid paying the higher prices by picking up a PS5 at Amazon, Best Buy, Target, and Walmart today. The disc-based PS5 is already sold out at Amazon, and your options may get even more limited the longer you wait. As of right now, you can get the PS5 Digital Edition for around $449 at Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, and Target, while the standard PS5 can be had for around $499 at Best Buy, Walmart, and Target. You can also pick up the newer PS5 Pro for around $699 at Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, and Target. All three PS5 consoles can play the same library of games, but have slight differences. The PS5 Digital Edition features rearranged port selection and lacks a built-in disc drive, which means it can only play digital games downloaded from the PlayStation Store. (Sony sells an optional external drive you can add after the fact for $79.99 if you'd like to play physical games or Blu-rays.) The standard, disc-based PS5 features the same tech specs, but with an internal disc drive. The PS5 Pro, meanwhile, has a better GPU, faster memory, improved ray tracing, support for Wi-Fi 7, and AI-powered upscaling. It lacks an internal disc drive, but it's compatible with the external disc drive developed for the original PS5. It also comes with 2TB of internal storage instead of the 1TB SSD found in the non-Pro models, so you have additional space for stowing digital games. The beefed-up system doesn't have exclusive titles, but select PS5 titles have received updates to look better. Sony's price hike comes less than a month after Nintendo introduced a similar $30 increase on the original Nintendo Switch models. Nintendo also recently raised the prices of certain Nintendo Switch 2 accessories, but Sony says 'the recommended retail prices for PS5 accessories remain unchanged.' The price adjustments from both companies are attributable to tariffs on international goods, which were first announced in April and have continued to change in response to President Donald Trump's on-again-of-again policy. BLUE EYE SAMURAI Season 2 Poster Teases Mizu's Epic Return — GeekTyrant
Netflix just dropped the first poster for Blue Eye Samurai Season 2, and it features the return of Mizu, who will continue her revenge-fueled journey. While a release date still hasn't been confirmed, hopefully we don't have to wait long for the next chapter of the story. Blue Eye Samurai has earned its place as one of Netflix's most badass original animated series. Since it premiered in 2023, fans have been all in on this gorgeously violent tale of vengeance and identity. And after that cliffhanger Season 1 finale, people have been hungry to see where Mizu's path leads next. Netflix also confirmed that the series is officially in production on Season 2. When we last saw Mizu, she was leaving Japan and heading to London to finish what she started — taking down Skeffington and Routely. That unfinished business has fans hyped to see her return with blades drawn. At this summer's Anime Expo, co-creator Amber Noizumi teased what's to come during a panel alongside Michael Green and executive producer Jane Wu. Noizumi said that Mizu's mission remains as sharp as her sword: 'Mizu's journey remains the same. Revenge is her religion.' Green backed that up with a reveal: 'She believes that at least two of the men that she's out to kill are going to be somewhere in this magical place called London.' Noizumi also hinted at a few surprises that could shake things up: 'There are also going to be maybe some people you thought died, who maybe are still alive.' Outside the convention, Green said: 'We're excited how it's coming along. It's going great. We have the best team you could ask for working, applying all their talent and experience into doing the impossible again. And more of the impossible, and celebrating what we got good at and trying some really new crazy things too.' Blue Eye Samurai recently scored the Emmy for 'Best Animated Series' in 2024, beating out some major contenders like X-Men '97 . With talk of future seasons and even spin-offs in the works, it's clear that Mizu's journey is far from over, and I'm excited to continue watching that journey unfold.
