ESPN's 'First Take' Got Duped In Embarrassing Fashion Tuesday
The fact-checkers at ESPN's First Take might have a scolding coming their way after the way the show was apparently duped on Tuesday morning.
While covering the Dallas Cowboys this morning, First Take host Molly Qerim shared a clip from practice of Cowboys wide receiver George Pickens receiving a deep bomb from quarterback Dak Prescott in training camp camp.
There's only one problem. Actually, there are at least several problems.
That clip is of Brandin Cooks, not George Pickens.
The Cowboys have not had a practice yet.
The clip is from two years ago.
First Take were the victims of a troll job from Cowboys fan @FergSZN, who decided to troll some of his own fans by calling it a bomb from Dak to Pickens.
"First play of Cowboys Training Camp is a Dak Prescott BOMB to George Pickens," they wrote on X yesterday morning.
As much as people wanted to criticize the X user for tricking them, many more got on ESPN's case for not doing their research:
"A joke of a network. Lazy producers didn't even check to see who took the video and when and Molly doesn't have any sense to realize it's wrong as she reads it," one user wrote on X.
"Congrats to @espn for airing old video from a random Twitter account and calling it the first day of Training Camp. Beyond lazy," wrote another.
"Reason 1001 to never watch that show and anything like it," a third wrote.
"WOW. Who checks socials for ESPN? This is shameful lol."
"But when I tell y'all these sports media people are frauds with mics and production studios then I'm the haters. Them airing this on National TV is crazy. Nobody knew this was an old clip and that it wasn't George Pickens? I watched the clip yesterday and could tell it wasn't him."
"Jesus Christ!! This is why I don't watch ESPN anymore except for games. No research anymore. Just bs."
"Throw this in the garbage and restart everything, the fact we have 'journalists' not knowing when training camp starts nor than George Pickens isn't 5'10 is insane, they're genuinely ruining others opportunities who can actually bring sports journalism back

'Wednesday' Season 2: Jenna Ortega's castmates say she never breaks character filming Netflix hit
"She's on it, she's honest and ... she's so laser focused," Luis Guzmán said Wednesday has made its triumphant return with the release of Season 2, Part 1 on Netflix this week. It's a darker and twistier story that thrives in its grim mayhem, as the title character, played by Jenna Ortega, returns to Nevermore Academy. With the excitement of new cast members, including Steve Buscemi, Joanna Lumley, Billie Piper, Christopher Lloyd, Haley Joel Osment and Heather Matarazzo, the world of Wednesday is even richer than its first season. And as co-creators and showrunners, Alfred Gough and Miles Millar stressed to reporters ahead of the season premiere that they wanted to ensure they didn't rest on their laurels for the show's sophomore season. A core element of achieving that for Season 2 was getting a lot more time with the Addams family as a whole. "They dangled the carrot for us in Season 1, and I remember leaving the set going, 'Are you sure there's anything else possibly we could do?'" said Catherine Zeta-Jones, who plays matriarch Morticia. "The Addams Family [is] such a modern family when you think of it. We're a family that embraces idiosyncrasies and outcasts, ... we don't try to box them away. But it was wonderful in Season 2 to be able to explore that. For us to be within Wednesday's world, even though she didn't want us to be there, but we planted ourselves there within the school grounds." Season 2 really explores the relationship between Wednesday and Morticia (Catherine Zeta-Jones), and their relationships with Wednesday's grandmother, Morticia's mother, Hester Frump (Joanna Lumley), while Wednesday also has a lot of questions about her aunt, Morticia's sister Ophelia. "She is ghastly. The only person she really likes in the whole show is Wednesday," Lumley said about Hester. "She's fond of Wednesday because she can see in her the kind of spirit and streak of bad in her. ... She's grand, she's vain, she's greedy, and she sees in Wednesday a shining light." 'She does not break that character for nothing' But the cast was also quick to praise Ortega, crediting her for much of the success of the series. "To see the beginnings of Jenna Ortega and her continued professionalism, her sheer joy of her craft," Zeta-Jones said. "And watching this butterfly go into the stratosphere, it couldn't happen to a ... better person, and I'm just thrilled that I'm in her gang." "When I'm standing next to Jenna and Catherine, and I'm watching Jenna, ... I'm in total awe, because she does not break that character for nothing," Luis Guzmán, who plays Gomez, added. "I mean, she's on it, she's honest and ... she's so laser focused, and she's not settling for good, ... this has to be great." What makes the show particularly great is Ortega's execution of the iconic character, paired with director and executive producer Tim Burton's signature stylistic stamp. Then there's the supporting characters and intricate production design, too, that make the series a feast for the eyes as well. "I remember when I read Season 1, I felt strangely like it was written for me, even though I'm not a teenage girl, but I feel like one sometimes," Burton said. "And it's just something that really spoke to me." "I loved her take on everything from family to school to psychiatry to everything, and so that's why I wanted to do it is because of the strength of that particular character."

It was a good day for the Commanders offensive tackles
Jayden Daniels was apparently forced to move out of the pocket several times on Wednesday. The Washington Commanders were without left guard Brandon Coleman, recovering from a foot injury, which left him limping last weekend in practice. Coach Dan Quinn said early Wednesday that it is nothing serious, yet as a precaution, the Commanders kept Coleman off the scrimmage field on Wednesday. The Commanders thus started Laremy Tunsil (LT), Andrew Wylie (LG) Tyler Biadasz (C), Nick Allegretti (RG) and Josh Conerly (RT). Following the joint scrimmage, Mitchell Tischler of Monumental Sports reported that Tunsil had a good day, including one play where he locked up a Patriot linebacker and drove him off the playing field. On another play, he locked up a lineman and drove him down into the ground, showing he's not a bad run-blocker either. Good news for Commanders fans? Tischler says that the news of the offense was that Josh Conerly really had a good scrimmage. Conerly is Washington's first-round choice out of Oregon, drafted 28th overall. Conerly was playing at right tackle on Wednesday and came to play. Tischler said Conerly stood up well in one-on-one drills and working against edge rusher Harold Landry. This is very encouraging if Conerly is ready to go early in the season at right tackle. A key figure will be Wylie because of his flexibility to start at either tackle or guard when needed. Sam Cosmi, recovering from his ACL tear in January, might result in Wylie starting at right guard. Tischler also said of the four units (Patriots offense, Patriots defense, Commanders offense, Commanders defense), clearly the best of the four was the Commanders offense, and had this been an actual game, the Commanders would have been scoring several times. Barring injury, the Commanders this season could have two 2024 starters (Wiley and Allegretti) being reserves on the line for the 2025 team.
