New York is poised to play a central role in the development of artificial intelligence (AI), OpenAI executives told key business and civic leaders on Tuesday.
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman spoke at a private event hosted by the Partnership for New York City and the AI firm revealed a report showing that New York is well-positioned to play a central role in AI development, unlike during other stages of the digital economy, a source familiar with the event told FOX Business.
Altman spoke to the business and civic leaders in attendance and outlined how he sees AI progressing in the next three years as well as why he sees New York as well-positioned to play a leading role in AI development.
According to a copy of the OpenAI report obtained by FOX Business, New York is the top market in the world for active users of the enterprise version of ChatGPT. It also ranks second among U.S. states in terms of developers building their products on OpenAI's infrastructure, while it trails only California and Texas in terms of weekly ChatGPT users.

"OpenAI belongs here," the company wrote in the report. OpenAI said it has more employees working out of its office building in New York City than in any other office aside from San Francisco, and that it has room to triple its size.

"New York's world-class higher ed institutions and irresistible pull for graduates from around the world will help us deliver on our mission to build AI that benefits the most people possible," OpenAI wrote.
OpenAI chief economist Ronnie Chatterji also spoke to the business and civic leaders in attendance about how AI can increase productivity and fuel economic growth, according to a source familiar with the event.

The report noted that economists have projected a wide range of increased productivity from AI, ranging from 0.06% at the low-end to 18%. OpenAI explained that even at the low end, it would add billions of dollars to U.S. gross domestic product given a nearly $30 trillion GDP.
It also said factors that will affect the advancement of AI include geography, organizations and values.
OpenAI added that implementing commonsense rules to protect people from the harms of AI and based on democratic values like those the U.S. has represented on the world stage will help ensure the technology helps as many people as possible.
OpenAI's report also addressed concerns some have raised about the impact of AI on the labor force, as the company wrote that new innovations often complement workers rather than substitute them.
It also said new technologies can lead to the creation of new types of jobs, noting that most of the professions in the workforce today didn't exist prior to 1940.Original article source: OpenAI says this state will play central role in artificial intelligence development

Adobe (NasdaqGS:ADBE) Partners With Newell Brands to Enhance Content Creation With AI

Adobe saw a 9% increase in its stock price over the last quarter, a movement that aligns with recent partnership announcements and developments. The alliance with Newell Brands to enhance marketing through generative AI and the introduction of new AI-driven features in Adobe's products could have contributed positively to its share performance. Amid the broader market context, with indices like Nasdaq showing a consistent rise, Adobe's price movement may have mirrored these trends. The overall market environment was characterized by tech sector gains and optimism surrounding trade negotiations, supporting the company's upward trajectory. Buy, Hold or Sell Adobe? View our complete analysis and fair value estimate and you decide. Outshine the giants: these 27 early-stage AI stocks could fund your retirement. The recent partnerships and technological advancements mentioned in the introduction have the potential to significantly boost Adobe's revenue and earnings forecasts. Adobe's collaboration with Newell Brands and its rollout of new AI-driven features could further enhance user engagement and product attractiveness, possibly leading to increased Creative Cloud subscriptions. As a result, these developments may positively impact Adobe's financial performance by driving both top-line and bottom-line growth. Over the past three years, Adobe's total shareholder return, including dividends, was 9.53%. This long-term gain provides context to the shorter-term movements and indicates steady growth, though not exceptionally high. Comparatively, Adobe underperformed both the broader US market, which returned 11.2%, and the US Software industry, which delivered an 18.5% return over the past year. This disparity suggests there may be room for Adobe to improve its market positioning and performance. In terms of valuation, Adobe's recent price movement is in proximity to a bearish analyst price target of US$380.00, slightly below the current share price of US$382.98. This narrow margin indicates that some analysts view the stock as fairly valued. However, consensus forecasts, including a price target of roughly US$490.52, point to potential upside if the company successfully capitalizes on its AI innovations and strategic partnerships to meet or exceed earnings growth expectations. Investors should continue to assess how these drivers and market conditions influence Adobe's long-term valuation. Explore Adobe's analyst forecasts in our growth report. Data Centers Pose Threat to Electric Grids, Says US Regulator

Big data centers connecting to power grids is now one of the greatest near-term risks to reliability, according to a rare warning by the US agency charged with overseeing the sector. The sprawling campuses responsible for AI and cryptocurrency mining are being developed at a faster pace than the power plants and transmission lines needed to support them, 'resulting in lower system stability,' said the North American Electric Reliability Corp. in a report Thursday. That's because data centers require tremendous amounts of power at unpredictable intervals, and are also sensitive to swings in grid voltage — making them a major wild card in a electricity system that's unprepared for such energy use.
