Carrera and Ducati renew partnership through 2029
As part of the renewed agreement, the Carrera X Ducati collection, a comprehensive range of sunglasses and optical frames, will continue to be available.
The forthcoming Spring/Summer 2025 collection draws inspiration from Ducati's high-performance Panigale V4 motorcycle and the signature styling of the brand's design team based in Borgo Panigale. Styles are characterized by lightweight materials like carbon fiber and titanium and flexible ones like Ultem and rubber.
"The partnership between Carrera and Ducati goes beyond products and sponsorships: over the past few years, we have built a great work team together, that has transposed the ambitious successes enjoyed on the racetrack onto the eyewear sector,' said Alberto Macciani, Safilo Group chief marketing officer OCB's & global head communication.
Carrera will also remain the official partner of Ducati Corse during the 2025, 2026, and 2027 MotoGP seasons. For the upcoming 2025 season, two-time MotoGP World Champion Francesco Bagnaia and fellow rider Marc Marquez will front the new ad campaign for the Carrera|Ducati collection.
Alessandro Cicognani, Ducati licensing and corporate sponsorship director, added: "The collaboration between Ducati and Carrera is perfectly in line with our strategy aimed at offering, to racing enthusiasts, not just high-quality products, but products that reflect our brand's values - design and performance - which, together with Carrera's excellent quality, have created unique eyewear collections that really resonate with consumers. We are therefore very pleased to celebrate the renewal of this successful partnership today."

Malaysia rules out return of F1 over costs
The Southeast Asian nation first hosted an F1 race in 1999 at its Sepang International Circuit, with the last grand prix held there in 2017. Malaysia dropped out of the F1 calendar from 2018 amid the rising costs of hosting the event. Sepang still annually stages MotoGP motorbike racing. Sports minister Hannah Yeoh said hosting F1 again would require the Malaysian government to pay about 300 million ringgit ($71.09 million) annually. Beyond hosting rights, Yeoh said the circuit requires about 10 million ringgit a year to maintain to the required standards for top-level motor racing. "Malaysia must also bind itself to a contract of between three to five years with Liberty Media (which holds F1's commercial rights), amounting to a commitment of about 1.5 billion ringgit during this period," she told parliament on Thursday. "The current race calendar is very tight and if Malaysia is interested in hosting again, we will have to compete with other countries for a place on the calendar," she added. In the region, Singapore stages a night race and Thailand hopes to become the latest host. The Thai cabinet in June approved a $1.2 billion bid to stage F1 on the streets of Bangkok from 2028. Yeoh said Malaysia is not shutting the door completely on having F1 races again, if any corporate entities were willing to shoulder the costs. "We are open to this and can cooperate," she added. "The Formula 1 is a very prestigious sporting event that is followed by many fans around the world. "So if we could afford it, it's a good-to-have event in Malaysia."

Six in a row for Marc Marquez with victory at Austrian MotoGP
It was his ninth win of the season and stretches his lead at the top of the championship standings. The Ducati rider, who started fourth on the grid, swept past pole-sitter Marco Bezzecchi on lap 20, and pulled away for his sixth successive victory. Rookie Fermin Aldeguer closed on him in the final laps but had to settle for second, the best result of his fledgling career, with Bezzecchi completing the podium. "Yes, super, super happy to finally take the first victory here in Austria, I'm wearing the red bike (Ducati) and it was working super good," said Marquez. Victory in the 1000th MotoGP race completed a perfect weekend for the Spaniard who, after a poor qualifying that saw him slide off the track, also won his 12th sprint of the season on Saturday. It also moves the 32-year-old one step closer to a seventh world title, his first since 2019. After 13 rounds of the 22-race season, Marquez is now 142 points clear of his brother Alex Marquez (Ducati-Gresini) in the standings. Patience pays off Marc Marquez made an excellent start, passing his brother on the first turn and sweeping past teammate Francesco Bagnaia, unbeaten here since 2022, on the second lap. That then set up a cat-and-mouse battle with Bezzecchi (Aprilia). Marquez had to wait until eight laps from the end before he could make the decisive move. Bezzecchi was then caught by the flying Aldeguer (BK8 Gresini) who briefly threatened to press Marquez for the chequered flag. In the end the 20-year-old dropped off to secure second. "In the first part he (Bezzecchi) was super strong but then I just waited," said Marquez. "I tried in the beginning but it was too risky, I preferred to wait and attack near the end. "But a new outsider arrived and it was Aldeguer this time and he was arriving super fast. But yes, I'm very happy for six victories in a row." In spite of starting second, Alex Marquez was always an outsider for the race win as he needed to serve a long-lap penalty for wiping out Honda's Joan Mir in an accident last time at the Czech MotoGP. He took it on lap three which saw him drop from fourth to 11th and he never recovered, finishing 10th. Reigning champion Jorge Martin's nightmare season continued when he crashed out in last place on turn 7 on lap 15. The Spaniard, who has said he will stay at Aprilia next season, sat out the first three races following two pre-season crashes. When he returned at Qatar in April, he crashed heavily again and missed the next seven races, only returning to the track in the last round in Brno. The next round of the championship takes place in Hungary next weekend.
