Andrej Bacanin makes Celtic transfer intentions clear amid Rangers claim as direct link with Lennon Miller emerges
In-demand Andrej Bacanin has added fuel to reported interest in Celtic after the rising star made a beeline for the Premiership champions on social media.
The 18-year-old rising Serbian midfielder is expected to leave current club Cukaricki in the next 10 days with the club's sporting director Vladimir Matijašević revealing both Brendan Rodgers' side and Rangers had phoned about Bacanin.
But it appears Bacanin only has eyes for Celtic as he started following the Premiership champions on Instagram after Cukaricki had received a call from Glasgow's east end.
Matijašević - speaking to the Serbian media – said: He stated: "There is a lot of interest in our young players, and the current focus is on the transfer of Andrej Bačanin. He attracted the attention of numerous clubs with his performances for our team last season, as well as for the Serbian national team at his age.
"We had calls from Scottish giants Celtic and Rangers, Ajax, Udinese, and some other teams are interested... It is possible that other options will emerge, and I expect the transfer to be completed in the next 10 days. I expect this to be another big exit transfer for Čukarički, which would cover our club's budget."
And Celtic's interest in Bacanin comes with the versatile star ranking similarly to Scottish starlet Lennon Miller in a host of key categories - with DataMB ranking both inside the top six midfielders in their age range when it comes to key passes in the final third.
Rodgers has been a long-time admirer of the Motherwell standout, however, it appears Miller has his heart set on a move abroad.
And that's where Bacanin comes in as he is ranked similarly to Miller and Olympiacos prodigy Christos Mouzakitis

Rangers dressing room clued up on Mikey Moore after Son Heung-min's revealing statement
Rangers look poised to sign one of English's football's hottest talents in Mikey Moore, and his captain at Tottenham has told Russell Martin's side just what they'd be in for with the youngster Rangers are getting close to signing Tottenham Hotspur wonderkid Mikey Moore on loan – and according to Spurs star Son Heung-min, the club are landing an "amazing" player. Despite stern competition, Russell Martin 's team look favourites to sign the player on a season-long deal, subject to a medical. The 17-year-old is regarded as one of English football's brightest young talents and has decided a move to the Scottish Premiership club will further his development. Spurs boss Thomas Frank has been eager for his starlet to gain more minutes on the pitch – something Rangers hope to offer. Moore has made 21 appearances and scored two goals since breaking into the Spurs first team in the 2023/2024 season. While earning plaudits from James Maddison too, speaking last year, Spurs captain Son said he believes Moore has what it takes to go all the way to the top, and gushed over the youngsters attributes, on and off the pitch. "Yeah, he's a fantastic boy and obviously, I mean, he's coming from the academy," Son said. "You as a club, you look after him even more. "Everybody is so welcoming and looking after him, so do I, because he's such a lovely kid and working hard every single day, coming with the first team with that age it's not easy, you know, like sometimes you're very shy. "But he's showing a good personality and working hard, which is very important to me. When you see the young players are working hard in the first team and you just want to help, you just want to help him." Son continued: "Now I want to be that guy as well, you know, just having him around me and just talking about things, because we are playing in a similar position that if I can help him a little bit with advice, then I'm always open to it. "Mikey is also coming to me most of the times and asking questions, which is very fun. I enjoy talking to him. He's a fantastic boy and then I'm definitely sure that he can be a fantastic player. There's no doubt because he has such amazing quality. "As we always say about young players, let's don't give him too much pressure on his shoulders. Just let's enjoy how he develops, how he improves every single day, every single season and as a fan, as supporters, we should just enjoy watching him and he will be, I think, one of the top players." Moore made history at Spurs when, at 17 years and 172 days old, he became England's youngest-ever scorer in a major competition when he bagged a goal against Elfsborg in the Europa League, which smashed a record set by the iconic Jimmy Greaves. New Spurs boss Frank is equally excited by Moore's burgeoning talent, but stressed the importance of the youngster gaining experience at the highest level. "It is very important [he goes on loan]. Mikey is a big talent. I'm really excited about his future here at Tottenham," Frank said. "I think, for all players, but especially younger players, they need consistent first-team football into their bodies. I think, if we can find the right option, we will do that." Meanwhile Martin was playing his cards close to his chest over any move on Tuesday. Talking to the press ahead of the Champions League qualifier against Panathinaikos, he said: "I think I've said to you all the way along that, as soon as it's done, you'll be the first guys to know. "There are lots of players we like, lots that we're linked to. He's [Moore] a really good player, and if at any point he becomes a Rangers player, we will let you know."

Hibs behind closed doors clash and new signings have East Kilbride ready for new campaign, says Mick Kennedy
Kilby have strengthened ahead of Saturday's League Two opener with Spartans East Kilbride have boosted their squad with a double signing swoop ahead of Saturday's League Two opener with Spartans. Kilby boss Mick Kennedy has snapped up striker Lewis Dobbie after he was released by Celtic, while former Dunfermline defender Rhys Breen has also signed. Breen made his debut in last week's 6-2 loss to Inverness in the Premier Sports Cup, opening the scoring on the night, while Dobbie got his first outing in a behind closed doors friendly with Premiership side Hibs on Sunday, which Kilby lost 5-2. On the new arrivals, Kennedy said: 'Obviously, we've mentioned before that Ouzy See needs an operation and we don't know how long he is out for. He might have a bit of a wait for it so we'll need to wait and see. 'That led to us bringing in Lewis Dobbie in from Celtic, which we are delighted with. 'Rhys Breen is someone we have been chasing all summer. He was just assessing all his options, so we are delighted he's chosen us because he will be a great signing. 'I'm delighted with the recruitment and that should be us done now. Once we get all the injured boys back we should be in a really strong position. 'We are a wee bit stretched and I think it will be a few weeks before we are back to strength. Our full back four from last season weren't playing last week but we'll get there. We can't use it as an excuse because we've got a strong squad. 'It just so happens everything has happened early in the season.' Meanwhile, Kennedy was pleased with Sunday's showing against the Hibees - where Jack Leitch bagged a brace - following a second-half capitulation against League One Inverness in the cup. He said: 'It was basically Hibs' first team and they beat us 5-2, but I was delighted with the boys. 'We went in 1-0 up at half-time after being outstanding in the first half. We were really good for large parts of the game so I was delighted with that. 'Bar the injuries, we go into this weekend in a really good place, I think. 'The Inverness game was a strange one. We should have been 2-0 up. Robbo [John Robertson] hits the inside of the post at 1-0, but I thought Inverness deserved to go in 1-1 at half-time. 'We have been really struggling with injuries. We gave Joe Morrsion, who just came in from Celtic, his first start and he'd only had one training session. Our right-back was at left-back, centre-mid was left-back, our right midfielder was centre half, so we were all over the place. 'There was a mad 10-15 minute spell in the second half where it caught up with us. 'We had to use the cup as pre-season and with the squad being so light and a few new boys coming in, it was just one game too many for us. 'But there were large parts of the game where we played really well and there wasn't a huge gulf in class.'
