Jim Harbaugh added to lawsuit in Matt Weiss phone hacking scandal
The newest lawsuit is an amended class-action complaint that was filed by 11 women accusing former Michigan offensive coordinator Matt Weiss of hacking into their personal accounts and taking personal photos. It also names current Michigan athletic director Warde Manuel as a defendant.
The Detroit News first reported the update Friday.
The original lawsuit, filed on March 21, alleges that Weiss viewed private information of the school's female students between Dec. 21-23, 2022.

Harbaugh, who served as head coach of Michigan's football program from 2015-23, failed to act to protect students, the lawsuit alleges.
'Naming Head Coach Jim Harbaugh and Athletic Director Warde Manuel in this complaint reflects our belief that leadership at the highest levels either knew of these threats or deliberately ignored them, prioritizing athletic prestige and profit over the safety and dignity of students,' one of the women's lawyers, Parker Stinar, told the Detroit News in a statement.
The lawsuit also alleges that Michigan officials let Weiss coach in the 2022 Fiesta Bowl despite knowing that he hacked into the personal accounts of female athletes at the university.
'In this way, the university placed profits before people, particularly women and female student athletes,' lawyers for the women wrote in the lawsuit.

This newest lawsuit is one of at least 13 civil cases filed against Weiss by lawyers who represent over 80 female athletes across the nation.
The allegations against the former Ravens assistant coach surfaced three months after he was federally indicted and accused of illegally obtaining access to a database of college athletes at more than 100 universities that was maintained by a third-party company.
Weiss then allegedly downloaded the personal information of over 150,000 individuals and ultimately gained access to their social media, email and cloud storage accounts of at least 3,000 athletes.
With this access, Weiss allegedly downloaded intimate digital photos and videos 'that were never intended to be shared beyond intimate partners,' federal prosecutors said.

Trenton man charged for attempting to meet 15-year-old girl, sending explicit photos
A Downriver man has been charged with communications and attempt to meet an online contact that was an undercover officer, but whom he believed to be a 15-year-old girl. Andrew Day, 30, of Trenton, has been charged with accosting a child for immoral purposes, which is a 4-year felony, and using a computer to commit a crime, which is a 1-year misdemeanor, Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido announced. The online communications took place on July 14 via Reddit. The undercover officer, who portrayed themselves as a 15-year-old girl, was sent explicit photos and messages about explicit activities. Day made arrangements to meet the teenager on Aug. 11 for sexual relations, the report said, and he was arrested after arriving at the intended location. Day was arraigned on Tuesday at the 37th District Court in Warren. His bond was set at $100,000. If released on bond, the conditions will include a GPS tether and no use of the internet. A probable cause conference is scheduled for Aug. 6, with a preliminary examination scheduled for Sept. 2.

CARO, Mich. (AP) — A pickup truck went through a stop sign and crashed into a van, killing at least six people in a rural area of Michigan, authorities said. The crash occurred Tuesday afternoon in Tuscola County's Gilford Township, 100 miles (161 kilometers) north of Detroit. Thirteen people were in the two vehicles, including 10 in the van, the sheriff's office said. 'Multiple passengers were ejected from the van and the pickup,' the sheriff's office said on Facebook. 'At this time there are 6 confirmed fatalities and the condition of the additional patients is unknown.' The van was carrying members of a local Amish community, Undersheriff Robert Baxter said Wednesday. 'They had a paid driver in the van,' he told The Associated Press. 'I'm not sure where they were headed or where they were coming from. They're county residents.' Baxter said seven people were taken to a hospital. He had no update on their conditions.
