Big Ten coach has high expectations for Oregon Football QB Dante Moore in 2025
Big Ten coach has high expectations for Oregon Football QB Dante Moore in 2025 The Oregon Ducks will look quite different in 2025 than they did a year ago, and while fans will have many questions about where the talent comes from, and which players will end up producing the most, there is little concern about the amount of talent currently in Eugene. One of the players who many expect to step up in a major way this year is redshirt sophomore quarterback Dante Moore, a former 5-star recruit who sat behind Dillon Gabriel a year ago and learned the Ducks' system after transferring in from the UCLA Bruins. While some from the outside may see Moore as your "run-in-the-mill" transfer QB, he is much more than that. Because of his year studying the offense and picking it up behind a veteran like Dillon Gabriel, Moore has a leg up coming into 2025. In an interview with Athlon Sports Magazine, an anonymous Big Ten coach echoed that sentiment, having this to say about Moore and his early expectations in Eugene. 'They're pretty hyped on the quarterback [Dante Moore], who they've had in the system for a season already, which is a huge advantage," the coach said. "This isn't modifying your book for a guy you get out of the portal; it's a talented, developed player who already knows your system. I think that will show early on this season.' The Ducks will have several chances in September to allow Moore to ease his way into the offense with a relatively light early-season schedule. Oregon kicks off things against Montana State, followed by games against Oklahoma State, Oregon State, and Northwestern. After that, the biggest regular-season game of the year comes on September 27, when the Ducks travel to Happy Valley to face the Penn State Nittany Lions, who many have ranked as the No. 1 team in the nation going into the new year. If Moore is as good as expected, then this will be an incredibly entertaining rematch of the 2024 Big Ten Championship Game. After the light early load, this game will give everyone a great idea of just how good No. 5 can be for the Ducks. New CFP format could help USC, but can Trojans take advantage?
New CFP format could help USC, but can Trojans take advantage? It's time for USC football to re-establish itself as a playoff-contending program, on par with 2022 This week, the College Football Playoff announced a change to its format for 2025. This year, there will be no more automatic byes given to conference champions, and teams will instead simply be seeded 1-12 in order of their playoff ranking. How will this change affect USC? If the the Trojans are one of the final at-large teams in this year's field, it could help them. Rather than slotting in as the No. 11 or 12 seed, USC could potentially move up a few spots in front of the automatic qualifiers from lesser conferences. In addition, the new format could help USC in the event that the Trojans make it to the Big Ten Championship Game, but lose. Under last year's format, in that scenario, USC could have been no higher than the No. 5 seed, and ineligible for a first-round bye. In the new format, however, a team that loses its conference title game could still get a bye if it is one of the top four teams in the CFP rankings. Of course, this will only help the Trojans if they are able to actually make the playoff, something that they have yet to do in its 11 seasons of existence. While the new format could potentially help USC, Lincoln Riley and Company's focus should be on improving upon last season's 7-6 fiasco first and foremost.

Illinois football head coach Bret Bielema signs contract extension
Illinois football head coach Bret Bielema signs contract extension A Big Ten football coach has signed a contract extension. Bret Bielema and Illinois have agreed to a six-year extension. The new contract will run through 2031 and will increase Bielema's salary to $7.7 million per year. While at Illinois, Bielema's record is 28-22 overall and 18-18 in the Big Ten. He's been to two bowl games and has a 1-1 record. The former Wisconsin and Arkansas coach has a career mark of 125-80. Bielema is 5-2 against Nebraska in his career, with a 3-0 mark while at Illinois, with a 31-24 Friday night overtime victory last season. While at Wisconsin, he was 2-2 against the Huskers, with one of those victories the infamous 2012 Big Ten Championship Game, when the Cornhuskers lost to the Badgers 70-31. In a statement to the public, Bielema said that he is fortunate to work with an athletic director who fully believes in our football program and a coaching staff that fully believes in the players. "Over the last four seasons, our program has been built on tough, smart, dependable people in every facet: from our players, to our coaches and staff, to our administration." Nebraska and Illinois do not meet during the 2025 regular season. Michigan football vs. Ohio State 2025 TV channel revealed
Though there are some provocateurs who want to claim otherwise, Michigan football vs. Ohio State is arguably the greatest rivalry in all sports, let alone college football. The Game is simply called that for a reason, because it needs very little other description. And in the past four years, it's been pivotal for one or both teams. The Wolverines have a four-game winning streak over the Buckeyes, and we already know it's almost certainly set to kick off at noon (it's only kicked off later than that once in the past 15 years). But now we also know for certain what channel it will be televised on. Advertisement Fox has the premier pick of Big Ten games, and it appears that, per usual, it has selected The Game among its top picks for the 2025 college football season. Ohio State may have won the national championship last year, but it lost, 13-10, to a 6-5 Michigan football team that was limping into the latter part of the season. The Wolverines also won the previous three contests but had more on the line, as the winner of The Game would go on to play in the Big Ten Championship Game (which Michigan did, and subsequently won). This season, The Game will take place in Ann Arbor and it will be Sherrone Moore's third edition coaching the team -- last year as the full-time head coach, with the previous year being an interim or acting status with Jim Harbaugh suspended by the Big Ten.
