Stalin appeals people to benefit from ‘Nalam Kakkum Stalin' camps to be launched on August 2

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Thursday appealed to general public and elected representatives to take part in the camps to be organised under the upcoming 'Nalam Kakkum Stalin' programme. A total of 1,256 camps are to be organised in all 38 districts of Tamil Nadu under the programme that is set to be launched in Chennai on August 2.
The camps would offer a range of medical services to the people. 'The general public, especially those who were screened under the 'Ungaludan Stalin' programme and were recommended for elaborate medical screening, must take part in these camps and benefit,' Mr. Stalin said. These camps would offer medical services closer to their habitations, he said.
In a social media post, Mr. Stalin said he would launch the camps from Chennai on August 2. These 1,256 camps were to be organised on all Saturdays across Tamil Nadu. 'The results of the screening would be informed to the participants by SMS. They would be provided with folders with results of their blood test, ECG, ECG, X-Ray, USG, mammogram, among others.'

ERODE/TIRUPPUR: Tamil Nadu Housing and Urban Development Minister S Muthusamy on Saturday allayed fears on the incidence of cancer in Erode district. "In the last one and a half years, three lakh people were invited for cancer screening in the district and one-and-a-half lakh people were screened for the disease. Of these, 32 people have been diagnosed with cancer and are receiving treatment," he stated while speaking to reporters in Erode. The incidence of cancer is not high in Erode, he added. The minister also refuted Opposition Leader Edappadi K Palaniswami's allegation that 2,000 Amma mini-clinics were closed under the DMK regime. Referring to the alleged kidney sale racket in Namakkal, Muthusamy said: "The state government is identifying and taking appropriate action on kidney sales. Action is being taken against the hospitals involved. Investigations are underway against those hospitals," he said. Lauding the new state health scheme 'Nalan Kakkum Stalin', Muthusamy said 45 camps are planned In Erode district. Earlier, the Minister launched the Nalam Kakkum Stalin scheme at the Government Higher Secondary School in Vellode. Collector S Kandasamy, MLA VC Chandhirakumar and others were present. In Tiruppur, ministers Saminathan and N Kayalvizhi Selvaraj launched the scheme at Punitha Amala Annai Girls Higher Secondary School in Vellakovil. District Collector Manish Naranaware and other officials were present.

Chennai: Chief minister M K Stalin launched specialty health screening camps, Nallam Kaakkum Stalin, across all districts, starting from Chennai on Saturday. Over the next six months, 1,256 high-level health camps will be organized on all working Saturdays, where experts from at least 15 different specialties will provide tests and free consultations. "The test reports will be given to you in a file. This will serve as your medical history," said Stalin, who underwent a cardiac procedure last week. "This is the first stage programme I am participating in, outside Fort St George, after being discharged from the hospital," he said. He said he felt dizzy during his morning walk and was taken to the hospital, where he was admitted for some tests. Stalin said he continued to work from the hospital reviewing the Ungaludan Stalin camps and writing to PM Modi, who visited Tamil Nadu. "After discharge, govt officials suggested we postpone all events, but I declined. Meeting people will help me heal better. This scheme is people's welfare, and that is my welfare," he said amidst applause. The camp aims to target people above 40 years, particularly those with chronic diseases and mental health conditions, pregnant women and nursing mothers, people with disabilities, and tribal and marginalized populations. Specialists from departments such as cardiology, neurology, and ENT, and diagnostics including ECG, ECHO, ultrasound, and X-ray, besides blood tests. Reports will be digitalized and tracked through the department's internal software. Earlier, chief secretary N Muruganandam said while Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam offers treatment at people's doorsteps, Nallam Kaakkum Stalin offers master health and preventive health checks. Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated medical camps under Nalam Kaakkum Stalin scheme through video conferencing in Dindigul and Ramanathapuram districts on Saturday. In Dindigul district, Rural Development Minister I. Periyasamy inaugurated the medical camp in Dindigul in the presence of Dindigul Collector S. Saravanan, Palani MLA I.P. Senthil Kumar, Vedasandur MLA S. Gandhirajan and Mayor J. Ilamathi. According to the press release, in Dindigul district, a total of 45 medical camps in the 15 blocks will be conducted every Saturday. In Ramanathapuram district the medical camp was inaugurated in Mandapam. Ramanathapuram Collector Simranjeet Singh Kahlon, Ramanathapuram MLA Katharbatcha Muthuramalingam, Paramakudi MLA S. Murugesan, Tiruvadanai MLA R. M. Karumanickam and others were present. At the medical camps, the people could get checked for blood pressure, diabetes, and also get screened for early stages of cancer. They could receive an echogram, X-ray, ECG, and an ultrasound scan. Specialists from various departments would participate in the medical camps. Treatment for ENT, dental, psychiatry, physiotherapy, cardiology, skin, and consultation for general surgeries would also be provided. Elaborate arrangements had been made to clinically screen the visitors and give certificates to the differently abled persons and an identity card for the Chief Minister's Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme. The medical camps will be held every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., according to the press release.
