Honor launches world's ‘thinnest' foldable Magic V5: All you need to know

Indian Express2 days ago
Honor has launched the world's thinnest foldable phone, Magic V5. But it is only the slimmest phone if you overlook the camera module, and that too if it is the white edition. The Magic V5 was launched in China on July 2, Wednesday, and it is yet to be released in other parts of the world.
The thinnest foldable phone will be available in three colourways: Ivory White, Black, Dawn Gold and Reddish Brown. Even though its availability in India is not known yet, here is everything you need to know about Honor's latest smartphone.
Design and build
When it comes to thickness, the Magic V5 at 8.8 mm beats the Oppo Find N5, which is 8.9 mm. In day-to-day use, the 0.1 mm difference is insignificant, but Honor's phone seems to be slightly thinner than the Oppo thanks to a very small curve. It needs to be noted that this only applies to the Ivory White version of the phone. The other colour options are 9 mm thick, as they come in fibre and vegan leather finishes. It is also among the lightest foldable smartphones, sharing the title with the Vivo X Fold 5, weighing in at 217 g. The phone features Honor Super Steel Hinge, offering enhanced strength and allowing a smooth folding action.
Cameras/photography
Despite having a thin overall design, the Magic V5 seems chunkier due to its protruding rear camera module. However, the company has added a well-designed camera with advanced photography. According to the company, the Magic V5 offers a complete photography experience. It sports a 50MP wide camera, a 50MP ultra-wide camera, and an improved 654MP periscope telephoto lens.
AI features
The Magic V5 comes with cutting-edge AI image processing to produce sharp, detailed images and videos. Additionally, Honor offers an AI agent, YOYO, which enables users to easily complete everyday tasks with basic commands. These tasks include creating PowerPoint presentations, searching, sharing files, coding, booking taxis, accessing live cameras, sharing screens, and more.
Display
Both displays use 120Hz LTPO OLED panels. The 7.9-inch inner screen offers room for multitasking, allowing users to make the most of the expansive display. On the other hand, the 6.43-inch external display allows easy access to all the essential apps on the go. The Honor Magic V5 has dust and water resistance ratings of IP58 and IP59, respectively. The device features remarkable resistance against scratches and impacts during daily use. This is possible owing to its build, which includes HONOR's Carbon Fibre Reinforced Inner Display Panel and Anti-scratch NanoCrystal Shield on the exterior screen.
Performance
Magic V5 promises impressive performance with its Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. The phone comes in two variants: 16GB RAM + 512GB storage and 5,820mAh battery, and 16GB RAM + 1TB storage and 6,100mAh battery.

Mahindra XUV 3XO slated for an update. Teased ahead of launch

Mahindra has hinted that the XUV 3XO is slated for an update. Check Offers Mahindra, in a teaser video on its social media channel, has teased the upcoming updated version of the XUV 3XO sub-compact SUV. The upcoming Mahindra XUV 3XO is expected to receive a new variant. The teaser video gave us a glimpse of that. Despite being a short video, the latest teaser has revealed a few key differences. The upcoming updated version of the Mahindra XUV 3XO will come with a fresh set of alloy wheels, possibly all blacked out to don a sportier vibe. Besides the black alloy wheels, the sub-compact SUV will get a panoramic sunroof, an electric vehicle-themed front grille and a Red-Black dual-tone exterior paint. Also Read : Upcoming cars in India While initially, it was thought that Mahindra would introduce a facelifted iteration of the XUV 3XO, the sub-compact SUV is not up for a major makeover. However, a new variant is expected to be added to the lineup, which will further enhance its appeal to customers and allow buyers to select from a wider range of options for the SUV. Mahindra has not revealed when it will launch the new variant, but expect it to be launched soon in an attempt to capitalise on the growing demand for SUVs. Mahindra XUV 3XO is placed in a segment that sees one of the toughest rivalries in the Indian passenger vehicle market. This same segment has models like Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Skoda Kylaq, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, among others. Upon launch, the new variant of the XUV 3XO will further strengthen the SUV's case against the competitors. Meanwhile, Mahindra is also working on an updated version of the XUV400 EV, which will essentially come as an all-electric version of the XUV 3XO. As the test mules have been spotted, despite the camouflage, they have revealed that the upcoming electric SUV will sport a design similar to the XUV 3XO. In that case, it will be a major departure from the design philosophy of the current XUV400 sports. Check out Upcoming Cars in India 2025, Best SUVs in India.
