According to video experts and early users of tools like Google Veo, Midjourney, and Sora, the quality and structure of prompts significantly affect how cinematic or coherent the final video appears. These tools, while powerful, rely heavily on the way users describe the scene, essentially turning the prompt into a virtual director's script.
Technique 1: Set a structure first, not style
One of the most common mistakes users make is starting their prompts with vague adjectives such as 'a beautiful sunset' or 'a stunning cityscape.' Experts recommend leading with structure instead.
For instance, a prompt like 'overhead drone shot of a bustling city skyline at night, cars moving below, buildings glowing with neon lights' yields much better results than generic descriptions like 'a beautiful cinematic video of a city at night'.
The idea is to think like a movie director, setting the scene visually and letting AI fill in the details.
Technique 2: Use cinematic language like a camera operator does
Cinematic results demand cinematic cues. Prompts that include camera angles and movements, like 'low-angle tracking shot,' 'overhead drone view,' or 'static close-up', help AI generators interpret the visual composition more accurately. These terms are rooted in traditional filmmaking and signal how the virtual camera should behave, adding depth and dynamic quality to the scene.
Here are some cinematic-style prompt examples:
'Over-the-shoulder shot of a woman typing on a laptop in a dimly lit café, warm lighting, rain tapping the window.'
'Crane shot rising above a wedding ceremony in an open field at sunset, guests applauding, petals falling in slow motion.'
'Tracking shot of a boy running through a cornfield, sunlight flickering through the leaves, handheld camera effect.'
'Static close-up of hands lighting a candle in a dark room, soft shadows, flickering flame reflecting in the eyes.'

Using prompts like these doesn't just describe what's in the scene; it tells the AI how to frame, light, and move through it, just like a real camera crew would.
Technique 3: Break the scene into beats
Instead of trying to cram an entire story into one sentence, experts suggest breaking the prompt into visual segments, often referred to as 'beats.' This technique gives AI models a clearer sense of progression and pacing, even if full transitions aren't yet supported.
Here are a few examples for different scenes:

Beat 2: Close-up of dew dripping from a leaf, soft lighting, quiet atmosphere

Mood-setting phrases like 'golden hour light' or 'cold overcast sky' further improve cinematic quality. Since AI outputs vary, testing and tweaking prompts is key. Tools like Google Veo respond well to detailed inputs, often delivering professional-looking results.
Technique 5: Testing and reiterating make it better
Since AI video tools are still evolving, experts emphasise the need to test and iterate. Running the same prompt multiple times and tweaking specific words often leads to better outcomes. Google's Veo, in particular, has shown more consistent results than many other generators, especially when using detailed and structured prompts.

Google has proposed to allow real money games on Google Play in India as part of addressing anti-competition concerns. Google clarified that payment warnings are developer agnostic, applied in a uniform and transparent manner.(Pixabay/representational) Besides, the technology major has suggested changes to Google Ads Policy and permits games of skill to be advertised in India, subject to certain conditions. In November 2024, the Competition Commission of India (CCI) had ordered an investigation against Google on a complaint filed by Winzo Games Pvt Ltd. Against this backdrop, Google has submitted a commitment proposal to the regulator. "The Play Commitment Proposal, along with the Ads Commitment Proposal, addresses the Hon'ble Commission's concerns by ensuring inclusive access to Google Play and Google Ads for all compliant RMGs, eliminating any alleged competitive disadvantages, and standardising policies to prevent any adverse effects on competition," Google said in the proposal. RMGs refer to Real Money Games. In its order, CCI had mentioned the alleged exclusion of certain RMG apps from Google Play could result in a denial of market access. and also that the selective onboarding of DFS (Daily Fantasy Sports) and Rummy apps allegedly distorts the competitive landscape. It was also flagged that the prolonged duration of the pilot program, which includes only DFS and Rummy apps, is said to perpetuate advantages for these apps, creating barriers for new entrants. "Google will replace the current pilot program by allowing the distribution of all RMGs self-declared by developers as permissible online real money games as per applicable laws/jurisprudence, on Google Play in India," the company said. Also, the company is finalising its approach for an appropriate business model which considers developer commercial models in the RMG industry. With respect to its Ads Policy, Google said it will allow games of skill to be advertised in India where the advertiser provides proof that it is in good standing with a recognised third party and certain other conditions. Besides, it needs to be ensured that the "recognised third party has provided a third party certification that the game it intends to advertise is a permissible game of skill, and the advertiser otherwise complies with the Google Ads Policies," the proposal said. Among other aspects, Google clarified that payment warnings are developer agnostic, applied in a uniform and transparent manner and are objectively necessary for user safety, as mandated by several directives of the Reserve Bank of India and the National Payments Corporation of India. "They are not specific to any consumer, individual merchant, or a particular product 'class' (e.g. RMG vs non-RMG apps), nor do they differentiate between developers distributed on Google Play (by way of a pilot program or otherwise) or outside of Google Play. They are applied in a uniform and transparent manner and may be triggered by objective parameters that apply to all transactions alike," it noted. The watchdog has sought public comments on the commitment proposal till August 20. In a statement on Friday, Winzo said Google has now sought to resolve the matter by offering its third commitment. "Any commitments must be robust and genuinely eliminate the discriminatory practices identified. "Winzo is carefully reviewing the details of Google's new proposal and will continue to participate actively in the CCI's consultation process. Google's vague reference to 'developing' a commercial model for Real Money Gaming, without any clear framework, timeline, or objective criteria, is what we would watch out for," it added.

The question is no longer whether AI will change the world. It already is. The real question is who will shape that change. That answer begins with how we skill people. Just like AI needs quality training data, people need quality thinking. AI skilling has often been treated as a technical milestone. Learning how to write better prompts, use a new model, or automate a repetitive task. All of that is useful. But if that is where it stops, we are missing the bigger picture. The people who use AI are not just executing tasks. They are making choices. They decide what gets automated, what is left out, and who is affected. And if they do not have the right awareness, even good intentions can lead to harm. This is why we need a different kind of skilling. One that builds judgment, not just speed. Not because of bad intent, but because no one tested it well enough. Or a resume screening tool built on data from a single metro. It starts excluding candidates from smaller towns, different backgrounds, or non-English-speaking schools. Quietly. Repeatedly. Or a deepfake tool used for a prank. A video goes viral. Reputations are damaged. Lives are affected. And the person behind it does not understand what line they crossed. These are not failures of code. They are failures of context. And they could have been prevented with better skilling. Not just technical training, but education that includes ethics, systems thinking, real-world exposure, and long-term consequences. This is India's opportunity. We already have the numbers. What we need is a generation that understands the responsibility that comes with building and using AI. A generation that is not just AI-literate, but AI-conscious. We often wonder if humans can keep up with AI. But maybe the more urgent question is whether our judgment can grow fast enough to use AI well. Because the tools will keep getting smarter. They will get cheaper.
