
APR's Medicube to launch in Ulta Beauty
Korean cosmetics company APR is accelerating its growth into the North American market as its flagship brand Medicube has officially entered US retail giant Ulta Beauty, the company said Monday.
APR recently signed a supply agreement with Ulta, securing shelf space for 22 Medicube products — ranging from skin care to beauty devices — across over 1,400 online and offline locations. The official launch is set for August, following the shipment of initial stock.
Unlike Ulta's usual gradual onboarding process, Medicube will be available across all locations from the initial launch, signaling strong confidence in the brand and rising global demand for K-beauty.
The product lineup includes bestsellers like the Zero Pore Pad, Collagen Jelly Cream and Deep Vita C Capsule Cream, alongside the newly launched PDRN line. APR's beauty tech devices, including the AGE-R Booster Pro and Booster Pro Mini, are also part of the deal, with plans to install dedicated displays in-store.
Based on this partnership, APR aims to further position Medicube as a leading global skin care brand. The company has been rapidly building brand recognition among US consumers. With its entry into a widely accessible beauty retailer, APR plans to further boost sales.
'This entry marks a major step in expanding customer outreach,' an APR representative said. 'We will continue working to grow overseas revenue.'

Featuring booths for 51 companies and organizations, the Korea Pavilion was bustling with company officials engaging with visitors, hosting investor relations sessions and showcasing their innovations on the first day. 'Korea securing the largest exhibition space among all national pavilions is a clear signal that the global market recognizes the potential of Korean biotech,' said Lee Seung-kyu, vice chairman of Korea Bio, during a press briefing at the pavilion on Monday. 'This year's event particularly reflects heightened global market volatility post US presidential election,' Lee said. 'It's not just industry players, but government agencies, regulators and moderators from the regulatory sphere participating as well. The atmosphere underscores how biotech is no longer just a promising sector, but it's becoming a 'strategic asset' for national interests.' The vice president also pointed to the rise of aggressive competitors in the region, including India, Thailand and Indonesia, and most notably Japan, which is stepping up its presence in the global biotech space. 'Fujifilm for instance, which previously focused on chemicals, has now transformed into a full-fledged life science company with a well-established system. They're actively expanding, building new manufacturing facilities in the US," Lee explained. Looking at countries such as Thailand and Indonesia that are ramping up investment in biotech, Lee insisted that Korea must secure a "meaningful position" within the next 'three to five years.' Lee also commented on former US President George W. Bush's scheduled keynote address on Tuesday, saying it reflects how seriously the US regards the biotechnology sector. 'The US is increasingly anxious about being outpaced by countries like China, and from what I hear within the American biotech community, even they are tense about those unpredictable policy changes,' Lee said. With the US government now scrutinizing issues such as inflated drug prices and health insurance premiums, the vice president believes this could benefit the biosimilar sector, and Korean companies may be well-positioned to capitalize on the shift. Lastly, Lee emphasized Korea Bio's commitment to becoming a unifying force for the nation's biotech industry by fostering greater collaboration across institutions to strengthen Korea's position in the global value chain. 'For global big pharma, CDMO capabilities are important, but drug discovery and innovation are also crucial touchpoints. Korean companies have so far made strides as 'fast followers,' but now is the time to become 'first movers,'' he said. 'To support this transition, the new Korean government must also provide policy-level support from a truly global perspective.'

LG CNS partners with US robotics firm Skild AI on industrial humanoid robots
LG CNS, a Korean IT solutions provider under LG Group, announced Tuesday it has entered a strategic partnership with US-based robotics company Skild AI to develop industrial humanoid robot technologies. The agreement also includes an investment via LG Technology Ventures, the group's corporate venture capital arm. Skild AI, co-founded by Carnegie Mellon University professors Deepak Pathak and Abhinav Gupta, is recognized for its Robot Foundation Model RFM, which functions as a robot's AI-driven 'brain.' It enables autonomous decision-making by learning from images, text, audio and video data, and is designed for use across a wide range of robotic platforms, both humanoid and non-humanoid. Through the collaboration, LG CNS plans to create AI humanoid robot solutions tailored to industrial settings such as manufacturing and logistics. These robots are expected to perform tasks including facility monitoring, assembly and handling logistics operations. LG CNS also plans to expand applications to urban environments, including senior care and patrol services. The company will offer an integrated robotics service that brings together Skild AI's RFM, LG CNS' platform for robot control and management, and hardware developed in collaboration with manufacturing partners. 'By combining Skild AI's robotics foundation model with LG CNS' solution expertise, we aim to become a leading intelligent AI robotics service provider,' said Lee Jun-ho, head of LG CNS' Smart Logistics and City Business Unit. 'We will drive innovation and help clients achieve smarter operations.' According to a Goldman Sachs report, the global humanoid robot market is projected to grow at an annual rate of 50.2 percent, reaching around $38 billion by 2035.
