NYT Strands Tuesday, July 22nd Guide
Another week has come and gone, my dearest Strandistarians. This is my final day posting Strands guides, though I'll be back in mid-August for more. I take over the Mini Crossword guide this coming week, and of course will continue posting the daily Wordle Guide and the Sunday Edition of the Connections guide. So many puzzles! Let's solve this one, shall we?
Strands is a daily word puzzle from The New York Times that challenges your vocabulary and pattern-recognition skills. Here's how it works.
Find all the hidden theme words in the grid. Every puzzle has a theme, and the words you need to find will relate to it. Some themes are incredibly obvious, while others require more creative thinking. Generally you'll need to find between 5 to 9 words in total and each word must be at least four letters long.
One special word—called the spangram—will stretch across two or more sides of the grid and tie directly into the theme. It's key to unlocking the puzzle, tying together all the other words and reinforcing the daily theme. Play today's puzzle right here.
Spoilers ahead.
Today's Strands Hints
Read on for today's theme and some hints to help you uncover today's words. Before I reveal the answers, I'll give you the first two letters of each word to help you get started.
Today's Theme: Step to it!

Today's Strands
The trickiest part of today's Strands was the word CHOREOGRAPHY. It's so much bigger than any of the other words, including the spangram, DANCECLASS, and I just could not uncover it for the longest time, even after I'd dug up MUSIC and TEACHER, COSTUME and RECITAL. In fact, I found the spangram before most of those. But that final word eluded me until I finally worked it out. Have a lovely weekend, folks!
How did you do on your Strands today? Let me know on Twitter and Facebook.

Now that's a big rock — what we know about Cristiano Ronaldo's gigantic engagement ring
Cristiano Ronaldo has proposed to his longtime girlfriend with a massive diamond engagement ring. The footballer's girlfriend, Argentine-Spanish model Georgina Rodriguez, announced the engagement in a Monday post on Instagram. She posted a picture of her hand with long, manicured nails — and a huge ring. Rodriguez captioned the post, "I do. In this and all my lives," written in Spanish. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Georgina Rodríguez (@georginagio) The central oval-shaped diamond was flanked on either side by two smaller diamonds. Anya Walsh, a jewelry specialist at London-based retailer 77 Diamonds, told The New York Times that she estimates the ring's weight was around 35 carats and costs at least $5 million. Ronaldo and Rodriguez have been dating since 2016. They met when Ronaldo walked into a Gucci store in Madrid, where Rodriquez, now 31, worked as a retail assistant. They share two daughters and raise them with Ronaldo's three children from a previous relationship. Their son, a twin of their younger daughter, was stillborn at birth. Ronaldo, 40, is a Portuguese football player who is the captain and forward of the Portuguese national team and Saudi Arabia's Al-Nassr Football Club. Before joining Al-Nassr, he played for numerous other football clubs, including Real Madrid, Manchester United, and Juventus.
