Paging Pixar Studios: we have the main star of your next car-based animated movie. This is the Fiat TRIS, and it's a three-wheeled EV that's easily the cutest thing you'll see this week.
It's the car content we all need right now. Far removed from a world of thrusting, overweight thousand-horsepower dragsters, the TRIS is a petite, configurable commercial vehicle built for so-called 'last mile' delivery and 'urban' logistics.

Basically, it's a teeny delivery truck.
So teeny, it's smaller than a kei car. Where those hardy little Japanese workhorses are around 3.4m in length, this diddy Fiat is only 3.1m. It also weighs just one tonne (OK, 1,025kg), and features a 2.25-square-metre load bay – able to swallow a whole Euro pallet! – and a payload capacity of 540kg. You might like
And because it's got a turning circle of three metres, it's perfect for city deliveries. The chassis and tubular structure underpinning it all – adorably described as 'robust' and 'engineered for long-term performance' – is configurable. So there are flat-bed and 'chassis-cabin' versions, and a pickup.
Fiat reckons the latter is suitable for deliveries of fruit, sand or furniture. Top Gear reckons it's perfect for deliveries of cupcakes, stuffed dog toys, or something else equally floofy.

TRIS gets a teeny 6.9kWh lithium battery that powers a 12bhp (9kW) 48V electric motor. This motor also produces 33lb ft and can push the lil' fella right up to 28mph. Fiat reckons it's a stable 28mph too, via a 'wide track rear axle, enlarged wheelbase and 12in tyres'. Recharging is done via a standard home plug: 0 to 80 per cent takes 3.5 hours.
While Fiat has neglected to offer any visual representation of the inside, we're assured there's a 'strong focus on driver comfort' to allow for 'long working hours'. Former: good. Latter: concerning.
You'll spot it is lacking in the whole 'door' thing. It's not lacking in the whole 'screen' thing, because there's a 5.7in digital cluster inside, a USB-C plug and a 12V socket too.
Now comes the bit in the Pixar movie where it all falls apart: Fiat's adorable little TRIS is only being produced for the Middle East and Africa. So despite Fiat boss Olivier Francois assuring us it is 'born from Italian creativity and engineered for the realities of daily life', it's not engineered for our daily life.

Fiat's forthcoming Dacia Bigster rival could channel the spirit of the cult-classic Multipla MPV when it arrives in 2027. The new SUV is one of two C-segment models that the Italian brand is set to launch in the next two years, alongside a rakish, raised hatchback. They were previewed by Panda-inspired SUV and Fastback concepts unveiled early last year. Those models will be a maximum of 4.5 metres long and sit on the same cost-conscious Stellantis Smart Car platform as the smaller Grande Panda, enabling them to be offered with electric and hybrid powertrains. While the new SUV will sit broadly as part of the Panda design family and distinct from the range inspired by the classic 500, Fiat bosses have hinted it won't necessarily feature that name. Asked about the risks of Fiat expanding beyond its core city car market into the C-segment, Fiat Europe boss Gaetano Thorel said: 'It will be a challenge, because [it seems] we don't have the same legacy with family movers as we do with [the] 500 and Panda, but in reality we have, because when you think about the Multipla, then Fiat has a story on that. 'But thanks to Stellantis, we have a possibility to offer our customers and dealers a full passengercar line-up from 2.5 metres to 4.4 metres. That is the Fiat territory.' The Multipla arrived in 1998 as a 4m-long compact MPV with two rows of three seats and a host of space-saving features. The styling was divisive and the model was not a commercial success, but it won praise for its design, with Autocar's 2000 road test calling it 'the most innovative and exciting car in its class'. The new model will have more of a traditional SUV appearance but could echo the Multipla in terms of maximising space in a small footprint. The Citroën C3 Aircross, which uses the same Smart Car platform as the Grande Panda, seats seven.

Woah. That's a three-tenth improvement on the previous record set by the Rimac Nevera, and also swats away the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT by 2.5s. Ooft. Advertisement - Page continues below Xiaomi foreshadowed this strong showing last year, when it sent a stripped-out, prototype SU7 Ultra around the track. It monstered it, clocking a best lap of 6m 46.87s. That car was nowhere close to production spec, obviously, but its time was still three seconds quicker than a Porsche 911 GT3 RS. The SU7 Ultra's internals are… predictably strong. It's a trio of electric motors that combine to produce 1,527bhp, and enough torque to best Thanos in a tug of war. 0-62mph is covered in just 1.97s, and the hyper saloon won't call it quits until it sees 217mph. But that's not all: the Ultra also gets Pirelli P Zero tyres and stoppers from AP Racing. Combined with the 500kg weight deficit to the standard car (courtesy of lots of carbon), and a new aero kit that generates over 2.1 tonnes of downforce at peak speeds, the SU7 Ultra lives up to the second half of its name and then some. Oh, and Xiaomi says it pinched the record off the Nevera on its very first attempt. No wonder it saw fit to give the car a literal bold badge earlier this year...
