But that's not all.
To mark the moment, Mojang has rolled out two global
Community Challenges
, pushing players to work together, and the stakes come with some sweet exclusive loot.
What's New in Chase the Skies?
While
Chase the Skies
brings several gameplay enhancements like better graphics for Bedrock, a craftable saddle, and tweaks to leashes the real buzz is around three brand-new ghast variants.
Happy Ghast
Ghastling
Dried Ghast
Each one brings a unique personality to the Nether's airspace.
They're floaty, fiery, and now a central part of this update's limited-time community quest.
LATEST GAME DROP IS OUT! + COMMUNITY CHALLENGES AND MORE! | MINECRAFT MONTHLY
Challenge #1: Spawn 50 Million Happy Ghasts
Yup, 50
million
. This is the first challenge, and it can only be done in Creative Mode. Players worldwide must team up and spawn a collective total of 50 million Happy Ghasts. No timer. No pressure. Just teamwork—and a lot of flapping ghasts.
What's the reward?
Bedrock Edition
: Ghast Rider Floatie (yes, it floats)
Java Edition
: Ghast Riding Swimmer outfit (swimming never looked so ghostly)
Challenge #2: Feed One Million Ghastlings
Next up: Survival Mode gets some love. The goal? Feed 1 million snowballs to Ghastlings.
Why snowballs? Who knows—but these baby ghasts seem to love them. It's a simple act with a big community impact. The best part? Every snowball counts toward the total.
What's in it for you?
Bedrock Edition
: Happy Ghast Pilot Gear
Java Edition
: Happy Ghast Pilot Set
Once the milestones are hit, players can unlock these goodies directly from the in-game Dressing Room.
EVERYTHING New In MINECRAFT CHASE THE SKIES DROP
These Challenges Will Be Active for a Long Time
Unlike timed events that pressure players to race through content, Mojang is taking a more chill approach here. These challenges have no fixed end date.
They'll stay active until the global numbers are hit. That means whether you're a casual builder or a hardcore mob farmer, you've got time to contribute and score some unique loot.
Chase the Skies
isn't just an update—it's a vibe shift. From new mobs to community-powered rewards, it's Mojang at its most playful. So grab some snowballs, hop into Creative, and let's fill the skies with happy, squealing ghasts. See you in the Nether.
