Minecraft Distant Horizons mod: Update status for version 1.21.6
Mojang recently rolled out the Minecraft 1.21.6 update, titled "Chase the Skies," adding exciting content like happy ghasts, music discs, dried ghast blocks, craftable saddles, and vibrant visuals for Bedrock Edition. As always, the modding community kicked into gear to make their mods compatible with the latest version. One of the most awaited updates is for the Distant Horizons mod, a popular visual mod, that allows players to render distant chunks well beyond Minecraft's default 32-chunk limit. With Distant Horizons, players can see up to 200 chunks, making the game world look massive and more immersive. Current status of the Distant Horizons mod At the time of writing, the Distant Horizons mod is not yet available for Minecraft 1.21.6. However, the developer, James Seibel, recently posted an update in the mod's official Discord server. He confirmed that a beta version is already running on 1.21.6, though it's still not ready for public use. The Chase the Skies drop is here! To celebrate, we are giving away 10 travel-themed prize packs so you can adventure in style this summer. Relax in a custom Minecraft hammock, curl up with an exclusive Chase the Skies blanket, or get away from it all with a deluxe weekender bag… He explained that while the core part of the mod is functioning, many smaller features still need to be polished before a stable release can happen. This is expected, as Distant Horizons is a heavy mod with lots of rendering and performance systems. When can you expect the Minecraft Distant Horizons 1.21.6 update? Looking at previous release timelines, Distant Horizons took about a week to support Minecraft 1.21.5. However, support for 1.21.4 took nearly four months, showing how update speed can vary depending on internal goals. The development team seems to be focusing not just on keeping up with game updates, but also on improving the overall performance and quality of the mod. Since the mod is still in beta, they appear to prioritise making things better rather than rushing compatibility. Based on recent development updates shared on Discord, there is a strong chance that a 1.21.6 compatible version may be released by late June or sometime in July 2025. What should players do? Anything for THE shot 📸Easily snap your most precious Minecraft moments with the Vibrant Memories camera add-on! Use a wide variety of features and save camera angles – plus, control the time and weather to capture that perfect moment. Learn more: Until the stable version is released, players will need to stay on Minecraft 1.21.5 or earlier if they want to keep using the mod. It's best to keep an eye on the mod's official Discord or CurseForge page for the latest updates. For now, while Minecraft 1.21.6 brings plenty of new features, fans awaiting the Distant Horizons update will need to wait just a bit longer for the full visual experience to return.

Minecraft's Chase The Skies Update Launches Tomorrow
Minecraft's newest update is dropping tomorrow, bringing a slew of new features and visual upgrades. Minecraft fans should be stoked to hear about the latest update! Minecraft's newest Chase the Skies update is dropping tomorrow on PC, consoles, and mobile, bringing a slew of new features. In addition to the new update, the new Vibrant Visuals is also releasing tomorrow—offering its first official visual boost. Mojang has been cooking up the upcoming visual overhaul in the labs for a while. They also dropped a new video showcasing the Chase the Skies features and Vibrant Visuals improvements. The Chase the Skies update was originally announced earlier this year in March. One of the new standout features that players will enjoy is getting a pet ghast. First up, players will be able to obtain their first flying mount by locating a 'dried ghast' block in the Nether. You'll be able to craft one too, and per the latest Minecraft blog post, all you'll need is 'ghast tears and a soul sand block.' Once you have your block, leave it in water to see it transform into your pet Ghastling. Other new features include a player location bar to help keep an eye on where other players are, even showing their elevation level. It will be seen in the same place as the XP bar. The developers also added leads, so players can leash mobs together, as well as mounts or even boats together, and saddles. This does not allow players to leash each other to each other though! Saddles are now craftable with 3 leather and 1 iron ingot at a crafting table. Also, shears can now release specific leads from a knot of leads, keeping the rest of the knot intact. The Vibrant Visuals update is the first big graphical overhaul for Minecraft since the cancelled Super Duper Graphics Pack was announced. Mojang's latest blog post outlined: 'Vibrant Visuals is initially only releasing on compatible Minecraft: Bedrock Edition devices. This is just the first step, and we plan to bring Vibrant Visuals to Minecraft: Java Edition in the future. For those who like to dive into Marketplace content, please be aware that Marketplace Add-Ons, Skins, and Persona items will work with Vibrant Visuals. However, Worlds and Texture Packs won't be compatible with the new mode at the time of launch.' Another unfortunate drawback with turning on Vibrant Visuals is that splitscreen multiplayer is not supported. The blog noted that the game 'will switch to Fancy or Simple rendering if multiple players are joined locally. ' The visual improvement update allows players to experience a new side to Minecraft with rebalanced light and shadow enhancements. This means seeing water reflections, shaded forests, fog drifts, and waterfalls glimmering from the beautiful sun's rays. So far, the supported devices for these two updates include Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Android, iOS, and PC.
