Jack Wilshere will not make Arsenal return as Under-21s head coach
Wilshere, 33, who had previously been head coach of Arsenal's U18s, had been in discussions with the club over a potential return to coaching in the academy. Those talks were initially centred around a return to lead the U21s — Arsenal's previous U21 manager, Mehmet Ali, left the club in July to take up a first-team coaching role at Brentford.

Former Arsenal and England midfielder Wilshere is highly-regarded for his role in helping develop talents such as Myles Lewis-Skelly, Ethan Nwaneri and Max Dowman.
Many at Arsenal recognised the value of bringing a celebrated graduate of Hale End back into the academy in a prominent role to help bridge the gap between the academy and the first-team. Naturally, Wilshere was a candidate in the process to determine Ali's replacement — even if there were some reservations over bringing back a coach who had left the club relatively recently.
Wilshere — who made 197 appearances as a player for Arsenal while also earning 34 international caps for England — left the Arsenal academy to join Norwich City as a first-team coach in October 2024. He went on to become interim head coach there, before departing at the end of the 2024-25 season.
The nature of the role on offer at Arsenal, however, has changed. As well as being U21 head coach, Ali also managed Arsenal's U19 team in the UEFA Youth League. Arsenal's plan was to divide the role, with Porter leading the U21s, and Wilshere taking responsibility for the U19s and EFL trophy, as well as supporting the U21 staff.
Thus far, Arsenal have not been able to come to an agreement with Wilshere on that basis, and as things stand he is not expected to be part of the new-look academy set-up.
With Wilshere seemingly out of contention for the U21 position, Porter appears set for the role. The 39-year-old has been with Arsenal's academy since 2017, working his way up through the age groups. Following Ali's departure, Porter and fellow coach Ken Gillard took interim charge of the U21s. Porter is now set to step up to take the role on a permanent basis.

Chelsea players to donate portion of Club World Cup winnings to family of Diogo Jota and André Silva
Chelsea players have decided to donate a portion of their Club World Cup bonuses to the family of Diogo Jota and André Silva, according to The Athletic. Jota and Silva were killed in a July car crash in Spain. [Join or create a Yahoo Fantasy Football league for the 2025 NFL season] The decision, made jointly between the players and the club, will see a $15.5 million fund distributed equally among the players with an equal payment made to Jota's family. According to The Athletic, "the overall value of each portion tallies more than $500k before it's subjected to currency conversion costs from US dollars into UK pound sterling, alongside relevant employer costs, taxes and social security costs." Pedro Neto, who was teammates with Jota with Portugal and Wolverhampton Wanderers, signed with Chelsea in 2024. Chelsea won the expanded FIFA tournament last month after beating Paris Saint-Germain in the final at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. The team's run in the event brought in an estimated $114.6 million to the club. Tributes to continue for Jota, Silva The soccer world began paying tribute to the brothers following their tragic deaths in early July. Moments of silence were held at matches, including the Women's EUROs and Club World Cup. Other tributes were seen at Oasis' first reunion concert in Wales and by players around the world performing Jota's video game celebration. Ahead of Friday's Premier League opener against Bournemouth, Liverpool have announced they will dedicate the cover of its match day program to Jota, who played 123 times for the club, and Silva. All players across the league will wear black arms bands this weekend and will take part in a moment of silence. Jota will also be immortalized with a statue at Anfield, Liverpool's home ground, and players will wear a "Forever 20" emblem on their jerseys this season in reference to his number. The No. 20 has also been permanently retired by the club, the first time that honor has been bestowed on a former player in club history. Jota's death led to a poignant moment of silence at the Club World Cup match between Fluminense and Al-Hilal last week, as Al-Hilal defenders Rúben Neves and João Cancelo — two of Jota's Portugal teammates — became emotional. The next day, Neves and Cancelo flew back to Portugal for Jota's funeral, in which Neves served as a pallbearer.

🎶 Pop predicts Premier League 25/26: Picture Parlour (Everton) 🔮
The new Premier League season is almost upon us and to celebrate, we have enlisted the help of some football-loving pop stars to preview and predict the coming campaign. Click here to read all of the interviews! Today we've got Katherine Parlour and Ella Risi from the band Picture Parlour, who are Everton fans! Hi Picture Parlour. What are you hoping to see from Everton in the 2025/26 Premier League season? To get into the top 8, especially with the new signing of Jack Greaslish, and the rest of the new arrivals. I also think the women could potentially win the league. Their new home at Goodison will bring them that extra bit of luck. What is your hottest take or boldest prediction for Everton's 2025/26 Premier League season? To qualify for Europe and hopefully win a trophy. Maybe the FA Cup like Crystal Palace did last season. If you were going to bet your life savings on something definitely happening to Everton in the 2025/26 season, what would it be? Stay in the Premier League, or I've only got £3.50 and the pies are £6.20. The whole club is going to improve with the new ground and new players. Other than your own, which team or player are you most excited to watch in the 2025/26 season? Definitely not the Reds! To see what Chelsea's Cole Palmer is going to achieve and to see how well our women's team does in their new ground at Goodison. What do you predict will be the first managerial change of the 2025/26 season? Tough one. Maybe the Leeds manager, Daniel Farke, or one of the other promoted clubs. Who will turn out to be Everton's signing of the summer? Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall. Who will finish as the Premier League's Player of the Season? Cole Palmer for Chelsea. Who will win the Golden Boot? Erling Haaland for Man City. Which club will win the Premier League title? Everton…. or Man City. Finally, which three clubs will be relegated? Leeds, Burnley, Sunderland. Picture Parlour's new track, Talk About It is out now. Follow them on Instagram here.

Derby County vs Coventry City - team news, lineups, predictions
Derby County and Coventry City face each other this Saturday at the Pride Park Stadium for matchweek two of the EFL Championship. The match will be broadcast live at 12:30 on Sky Sports +. Derby County have 0 points to their name this season and occupy 23rd position in the table. In their last game, John Eustace's team drew 1-1 with West Bromwich (Carabao Cup 2025/26). Coventry City have won 1 point to date and are placed in 14th position. In their last match, Frank Lampard's team prevailed 1-0 against Luton Town (Carabao Cup 2025/26). The last meeting between the two teams ended with Derby County winning 2-0. The Fan Zone : Derby have been poor in their opening two games of the season and will head into the season's home opener wanting to right the ship. The Rams opened the season with a 3-1 loss away at Stoke, with two Stoke goals coming in the dying minutes. Derby picked up a result in the League Cup away at West Brom but were fortunate with a sublime free kick from Joe Ward and luck went their way in the penalty shoot-out. The Rams home form over the past several season's has been fantastic and has been a catalyst on which to build. However, as manager John Eustace has said, this is no where near a full-strength team. Injuries will continue to be a theme in the opening weeks and months of the season and fans will not see, what would be considered, a full-strength XI until at least October. Until then, Derby will need to be tough to beat and with a Coventry City side that seem to have promotion aspirations, it will be a tough ask. Derby need to dig in and get points on the board as soon as possible. Hopefully, the great home form can provide the spring board need to provide just that. Carlton Morris will be the main man up front. The veteran scored on his debut and will the be the main goal getter again. It'll be interested to see John Eustace's team. The team against WBA was completely different than it was against Stoke and he'll have some tough decisions to make on players returning to fitness. The hope is Derby can remain defensively solid and pick up a point to get their season up and running! Prediction: 1-1 Unavailable Derby County Curtis Nelson - Injury Sondre Langas - Knee Surgery Patrick Agyemang - Injury Owen Beck - Injury Rhian Brewster - Injury Kane Wilson - Knee Surgery Corey Blackett-Taylor - Injury Coventry City Last starting XIs Derby County ( vs West Bromwich 2025-08-12): Josh Vickers, Jake Rooney, Dion Sanderson, Craig Forsyth, Joe Ward, Kenzo Goudmijn, David Ozoh, Callum Elder, Bobby Clark, Andreas Weimann, Dajaune Brown Coventry City ( vs Luton Town 2025-08-12): Ben Wilson, Kaine Kesler-Hayden, Jake Bidwell, Bobby Thomas, Miguel Brau, Raphael Rodrigues, Victor Torp, Jamie Allen, Kai Andrews, Haji Wright, Ellis Simms
