Tampa Bay Buccaneers Tight End Cade Otton Ranked Poorly Among NFL's Best originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers don't often get national love, regardless of being one of the most consistent teams over the past five seasons.

With stars on the roster like Mike Evans, Vita Vea and Lavonte David, their names are hardly ever on the list of the top of their position groups outside of Tampa Bay.
Why should this offseason be any different?
Pro Football Focus released its tight end rankings ahead of the 2025 season, and while Cade Otton isn't ranked highly, it's for good reason.
20. Cade Otton, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
"Otton's Achilles' heel is drops. He has the third most (11) at the position across the past two years. His 63.1 PFF receiving grade in 2024 was a career high and also marks the first time he generated more than 1 yard per route run (1.31). If he can hang on to the ball (also three fumbles the past two years), Otton has the skills to rise on this list."

Otton is sandwiched between No. 19 Kyle Pitts in Atlanta and No. 21 Josh Oliver in Minnesota.
Otton was a fourth-round pick by the Bucs in 2022 out of then-Pac-12 powerhouse Washington. He had an impressive rookie campaign with 391 yards and two touchdowns, but suffered from drops. He posted just 42 catches on 65 targets with five drops, leading all tight ends.
The next season wasn't much better, with three drops on 67 targets, and he got worse last season. In 2024, Otton posted 59 catches on 87 targets with 600 yards and four touchdowns but eight drops.
If Otton can clean up his pass catching, he'd be a far more effective offensive tool for quarterback Baker Mayfield and the Bucs.

Abe Lucas talks about first impressions of Sam Darnold

Abe Lucas talks about first impressions of Sam Darnold I'm not sure if you've heard, but the Seattle Seahawks have a new quarterback for 2025 and his name is Sam Darnold. While Darnold may be new to the organization and the Pacific Northwest, he's not an unknown to all of his teammates... including those tasked with keeping him upright. Following Seattle's OTA practice on Wednesday, right tackle Abe Lucas took to the media to talk about the team. He was asked about his new quarterback and what his first impressions were. Lucas actually went back to his college days and used one example in particular that will surely excite Coug fans everywhere in the state and around the country. The Cougars were hosting No. 5 ranked USC in Pullman, and it became another classic edition of Pac-12 After Dark. Washington State helped spoil the Trojans' playoff hopes by handing them a 30-27 defeat... their first loss of the season, and their only conference loss. It became one of the defining victories in the Mike Leach era, showing the Cougars were here to stay as a legitimate opponent in college football. Darnold did not enjoy his only visit to the Palouse, as he completed only 15-of-29 passes for 164 yards and an interception. Darnold did rush for 25 yards and scored two touchdowns on the ground, but overall, not a stellar outing. He was also sacked five times, adding another example of how pressure can truly affect his game. This is something Abe Lucas, his former rival from that day, will now have to find a way to avoid for his new signal caller. There are no more Cougars or Trojans, only Seahawks.

3 Baltimore Ravens hidden gems on 2025 roster you need to know

The post 3 Baltimore Ravens hidden gems on 2025 roster you need to know appeared first on ClutchPoints. The Baltimore Ravens have yet to get over the hump that is stopping them from returning to the Super Bowl. Since winning the Lombardi trophy in 2012, the Ravens have made it to the AFC Championship game just one time, and they lost to Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. Last season, the Ravens fell short against Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills in the divisional round. Advertisement Despite their playoff shortcomings, the Ravens have been one of the best teams in the NFL. Lamar Jackson is one of the best quarterbacks in the league, and Derrick Henry has proven to be ageless as he continues to run through defenders. Additionally, Kyle Hamilton, Roquan Smith, Nate Wiggins, and Marlon Humphrey have led Baltimore to be one of the best defensive teams in football. Heading into the new season, the Ravens are looking to not only win their division and make the playoffs, but also get back to the Super Bowl. Baltimore could have a few more moves to make, but as it stands right now, the team is just as good as it was last season. Below are three hidden gems on the Ravens roster right now that a lot of football fans may not know about. Defensive Lineman Travis Jones Tommy Gilligan-Imagn Images Travis Jones is one of the better interior defensive linemen in the NFL. He was drafted back in 2022 in the third round of the NFL draft out of the University of Connecticut. He quickly made an impact for Baltimore, but he has yet to make a Pro Bowl. Advertisement Jones had a breakout year in 2024, though. He finished with a career-best 42 total tackles and a PFF grade of 69.9. The 6-foot-4 338 338-pound interior lineman had the 27th-best interior lineman PFF grade and the 13th-best run defense grade (72.0). He is going to stuff runners at the line and create chaos in the middle. The 25-year-old is entering his fourth season in the NFL, and he is poised for another great season. He has a lot of competition from other teams when it comes to the awards at the end of the year, but he is more than capable of becoming a top defensive lineman in football. Edge Rusher Odafe Oweh Tommy Gilligan-Imagn Images Oweh is coming off the best season of his young career. The 26-year-old was a first-round pick in 2021, but there he was not living up to the expectations. Before 2024, the most sacks he had in a season were five, and he was just not very consistent. Advertisement Last year, though, Oweh was able to show why he was such an early pick in the draft. The edge rusher had 10 sacks, 39 total tackles, a forced fumble, and 9.5 stuffs. Those stats gave him a PFF grade of 71.5, which ranked 31st among all edge rushers. With that, Oweh had the 25th-best pass rush PFF grade among all edge rushers. He seems to have found his stride as a pass rusher, and the Ravens are going to need him to have a repeat year if they want to beat the Bills or Chiefs in the playoffs. Linebacker Jake Hummel Mark J. Rebilas-Imagn Images Hummel is one of those players who has not received a lot of playing time, but he has the talent. He went undrafted in 2022, but the Los Angeles Rams picked him up, and he was able to stick a little bit there. Advertisement Baltimore signed Hummel back in March, and they are hoping he can make an impact as a backup linebacker. Hummel will not get starting reps over Smith, but he could have a chance to get more playing time over Trenton Simpson. Hummel played in all 17 games last year, but he averaged just one tackle per game. Still, the 26-year-old finished with a PFF grade of 77.1. He did not get enough snaps to be ranked among linebackers, but it shows how well he played when given the chance. The linebacker is much better on run defense, but he is a capable pass defender. Hummel is definitely someone worth keeping an eye on as the season approaches.

Gary Payton Delivers Strong Statement on Luka Doncic's Defense

Gary Payton Delivers Strong Statement on Luka Doncic's Defense originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Luka Doncic is in the midst of what many believe will be a transformative offseason for the 26-year-old Slovenian guard. After a rough 2024-25 season where he got heartbreakingly traded from the Dallas Mavericks to the Los Angeles Lakers, Doncic has come under a lot of criticism in the wake of the Mavericks moving on from him. Advertisement Even though modern NBA guards are expected to be greater offensive contributors than defensive players, there is still tremendous value in being a two-way star. That's what former NBA Champion and one of the greatest defensive guards in NBA history, Gary Payton, believes is the next step for Luka Doncic. Amid his first-ever visit to India for the BudX NBA House event in Mumbai, the 1996 NBA Defensive Player of the Year shared his strong take on Doncic's defense at a press conference. Gary Payton addressing the media at the BudX NBA House Press Conference in Mumbai, provided by NBA India "You have to be dedicated to playing defense. Maybe it's not good for him (Luka); he's a scorer. If he puts his mind to it, I tell every kid that I do camps with, it's a mindset to play defense... You have to have great hands and feet to do that. You have to be able to move. It takes sacrifice to do that. That's just the way it goes," the former nine-time NBA All-Defensive First Team honoree said. Advertisement "I don't think Luka is a defensive player; he's a scorer. But now. If he wants to, yes. But does he want to do it? That's up to him, not up to us. He's an athlete. He's got great ability, but now does he want to go change it and prove people wrong that he can play defense? If that were me, I would change that. I'll go out there and try to defend somebody, get in shape, and do the things I gotta do." Payton, the 1996 NBA steals leader, is one of the greatest defenders in NBA history and excelled on that end as a guard. His well-rounded two-way game helped him take the Seattle SuperSonics to multiple NBA Finals in the '90s, but Doncic's offensive brilliance helped him make an NBA Finals appearance in 2024. With conditioning and defensive concerns plaguing Doncic's last few seasons in Dallas, many have wondered if the Mavericks were right in parting with him, especially with the defensive limitations many have claimed him to have. Advertisement If Doncic wants to be remembered as one of the greatest guards the game has ever seen, he will have to make sure he can start changing his defensive reputation starting next season. We know how potent he can be offensively, averaging 28.2 points, 8.2 rebounds and 7.7 assists amid a down season in 2024-25.
