TPCC chief Jagga Reddy expresses his desire to become CM after Revanth completes two terms
HYDERABAD: TPCC working president and former Sangareddy MLA T Jayaprakash Reddy alias Jagga Reddy on Thursday expressed his ambition to become the chief minister of Telangana one day.
Speaking to media persons at Gandhi Bhavan here, the Congress leader, however, clarified that incumbent Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy would not only complete his full five-year term but also serve another five years.
He stated that only after Revanth completes his second term would he seek the top post. 'I am submitting my application to the people to make me the chief minister,' he said.
Jagga Reddy, who woke up from his reverie soon after, sharply criticised BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha for her remarks against the chief minister and the Congress government.
He accused her of making unwarranted comments and questioned her political stature, both within the BRS and beyond.
The TPCC working president dared her to respond to allegations of her involvement in the Delhi liquor scam and demanded an explanation from her on the source of her wealth.
Praising the Congress government for its performance, Jagga Reddy said that Revanth and Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka had successfully disbursed Rs 9,000 crore to farmers under the Rythu Bharosa scheme within just nine days. In contrast, he claimed, the previous BRS government had taken five months to achieve similar disbursements.

Rahul assures political power to tribals within Congress to strengthen community socially
Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, has said the Congress wants to strengthen the tribal community socially by politically empowering them with position, voice and support within the party. In a meeting with the representatives of the tribal society a few days ago at his residence, Mr. Gandhi discussed their problems and later shared a video of the interaction in which he is heard saying, "We want to develop tribal leadership in the Congress across the country." About the meeting, the former Congress chief said that he assured the representatives that he stood with them in this "fight". "My goal is to strengthen them socially by giving them political power, which will begin by giving them position, voice and support within the Congress party," Mr. Gandhi said during the meeting. In a post shared on his WhatsApp channel, he also said, "Their struggle for water, forest, land and constitutional rights continues - whether it is social injustice or land being snatched away by digitisation, the tribals of the country continue to suffer." Mr. Gandhi said the Congress has started the process of appointing new district presidents through the 'Sangthan Srujan Abhiyan' while keeping in mind the inclusiveness and participation of tribal and the Bahujan society. "We started this initiative from Gujarat and Congress will implement it in every state. In the coming times, when their strong and united voice resonates in power, no one will be able to stop the change in the current circumstances," the former Congress president said. Vikrant Bhuria, the chairman of the All India Adivasi Congress, said tribal representatives from Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Jharkhand were present during the meeting where Mr. Gandhi assured them that the community, especially the youth, would get preference in party tickets in tribal districts.

Will pad up and bat if captain tells me to: Kanhaiya Kumar on contesting Bihar polls
Congress leader Kanhaiya Kumar on Friday said that he will contest the upcoming Bihar Assembly polls if the party tells him to. Using a cricketing analogy, Kumar said that just like batting, bowling, and fielding are responsibilities that have to be fulfilled on the cricket field, fighting polls is also a responsibility in politics. "To fight polls, to make others fight polls and campaign, all are responsibilities that the party allots. If the party tells me to contest the polls then I will fight the elections also. Earlier also, when I contested the polls, it was on the orders of the party," he told PTI in an interview when asked whether he will contest the upcoming Bihar Assembly polls slated later this year. "If the captain tells me to sit outside and deliver drinks for those at the crease, I will do that. And if the captain tells me to, I will also pad up and bat," Kumar said on the possibility of him contesting assembly polls. On the Congress projecting him as a prominent face in Bihar, Kumar said the party has given him a responsibility like it does to its lakhs of workers. On the Election Commission asking for place of birth certificates starting with Bihar polls, Kumar said the Congress has asked the poll panel to rectify the anomalies in the voters list. "Today, if you raise questions on EC, they are answered by the BJP. You raise questions on ED, and answers are given by the BJP. You raise questions on the CBI and the Income Tax Department, answers are given by the BJP. I would like to remind you that it was the BJP that raised the questions over EVMs... So, if you (the BJP) raises questions it is ok but if we do the same, it is wrong," he said. "First you were saying there is no error. Now you are starting this process from Bihar. So, you are accepting that there is a mistake. And if there is a mistake, your focus should be on rectifying that and not harassing people. A Process should not become a punishment and the issues that have been raised should be rectified honestly," Kumar said.
