Belal Muhammad pressures Kamaru Usman to accept fight between ex-UFC champs
When asked to analyze the expected UFC welterweight title fight between champion Jack Della Maddalena and Islam Makhachev, Belal Muhammad didn't even bother to answer. Why? Because he's focused only on what's next for him – which he hopes is a fight against Kamaru Usman. "Honestly, for me, I'm not even really paying attention to anybody else," Muhammad said during a fan Q&A before UFC 319. "I'm looking at my next fight, my next opponent. If you guys see Usman around here, make sure you tell him that I'm looking for him." Muhammad the opportunity to publicly apply pressure on Usman in front of fans should come as no surprise. The two former UFC champs have been feuding since May following Muhammad's appearance on Usman's "Pound 4 Pound" podcast with Henry Cejudo. During the interview, Muhammad and Usman had a contentious verbal exchange. The episode – which was filmed before Muhammad's loss to Della Maddalena at UFC 315 – was never released. Muhammad and Usman have continued to trade barbs since then. With Muhammad losing his title and Usman snapping a three-fight skid by defeating Joaquin Buckley in June at UFC Atlanta, a Muhammad vs. Usman fight could make sense – even if Usman doesn't necessarily agree. Muhammad has other options near the top of the welterweight division, including Ian Machado Garry. But there's no question whom he's looking to meet in the cage next. "Just waiting for one of these guys to stop talking and sign the contract. We're looking for Usman," Muhammad said. "We're ready. I'm ready, I've been ready, I'm healthy, I've been training. … I'm ready. I'm hungry.

'He's an absolute asshole': Dricus Du Plessis, Belal Muhammad continue trading barbs
@bullyb170 well done! JK It's safe to say Dricus Du Plessis and Belal Muhammad still don't like each other. Former UFC welterweight champion Muhammad (24-4 MMA, 15-4 UFC) spoke about his desire of possibly moving up to middleweight to challenge Du Plessis (23-2 MMA, 9-0 UFC) for the title, and how he's not sold on him as a fighter. Du Plessis recently took pleasure in watching Muhammad lose his belt to Jack Della Maddalena at UFC 315 in May. "I was watching the fight to see him lose," Du Plessis said of Muhammad on "The Ariel Helwani Show." "I think he's an absolute asshole, so I was really happy to see that. That's why I made the tweet. Before the fight started, I had that tweet ready. It was just basically copy, paste, boom. Call it hope (that he loses), call it no doubt, it was one of those two." Du Plessis defends his middleweight title against undefeated Khamzat Chimaev (14-0 MMA, 8-0 UFC) in the UFC 319 headliner on Aug. 16 from United Center in Chicago (ESPN+, ESPN, pay-per-view). A Chicago native, Muhammad had a message for Du Plessis. "Also heard Dricus is in Chicago," Muhammad said on YouTube channel. "Bro, this is my city. Big card next week, huge main event. If you need anything from Chicago, like food, groceries, therapists, cage, gym, sauna, make sure you don't hit me up. You're not welcome here. Chicago, if you see him, you let him know, you don't like his kind. Go, Khamzat!"

Marlon Vera returns to face Aiemann Zahabi at UFC Fight Night 262 in Vancouver
A matchup between UFC-ranked top 10 bantamweights is heading to Canada. At UFC Fight Night 262 on Oct. 18 at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, former title challenger Marlon Vera will face Aiemann Zahabi in his home country. The promotion officially announced the matchup Thursday evening. Ecuador's Vera (23-10-1 MMA, 15-9 UFC) will look to get back on track after dropping two straight. His last victory over Pedro Munhoz at UFC 292 earned him a title shot against Sean O'Malley at UFC 299, in which he came up short. His last fight was a decision loss to former flyweight champ Deiveson Figueiredo. "Chito" is currently ranked No. 7 by the promotion. Three spots behind at No. 10 is Canada's Zahabi (13-2 MMA, 7-2 UFC), who has been on a hot streak since 2021. After dropping back-to-back fights against Ricardo Ramos and Vince Morales, Zahabi has become a force in the bantamweight division. He is currently on a six-fight winning streak that includes two first-round stoppages. His most recent outing in May at UFC 315 was a unanimous decision win over former champion Jose Aldo. With the addition, the current UFC Fight Night 262 lineup includes:
