UPPSC starts recruitment for LT grade asst teachers
Prayagraj: The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) commenced online application process for recruitment of 7,466 LT grade assistant teachers in govt schools on Monday. This recruitment drive is particularly significant as, for the first time, reservation has been introduced for outstanding athletes who represented the country at national and international levels. This follows the state govt's order dated January 7, 2022, which provided 2% reservation for sportspersons. As per the new arrangement, out of the 4,860 posts available for men, 92 are reserved for sportspersons. Similarly, 44 out of the 2,525 posts for women are now reserved for athletes. Additionally, 81 posts are reserved under the department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities. The deadline to submit the online application and pay the examination fee through the bank is August 28, while the last date for making corrections and resolving payment-related issues is Sept 4. According to UPPSC Secretary Ashok Kumar, candidates must obtain a One-Time Registration (OTR) number before submitting the application. Those who have not yet acquired the OTR number can do so through the commission's website at least 72 hours before applying. The selection process for LT Grade teachers will involve both a preliminary and a main examination. The preliminary exam will be two hours long and include 150 objective-type questions—30 from General Studies and 120 from the candidate's chosen subject. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Fund Renovations With Your Home's Equity- Borrow up to $400k NerdWallet Learn More Undo Each question will carry two marks. For social science posts, the main subject is divided into four sections: Geography, History, Economics, and Civics. Candidates must attempt two of these four sections, with each section containing 60 questions. Only candidates who clears the preliminary exam will be eligible for the main exam, which will carry 200 marks. The main exam will consist of 20 questions: 10 short-answer questions worth 8 marks each (to be answered in 125 words) and 10 long-answer questions worth 12 marks each (to be answered in 200 words). In the preliminary exam, one-third of the marks will be deducted for every wrong answer. If a candidate selects more than one option, the answer will be considered incorrect—even if one of the selected options is correct—and a one-third negative mark will still apply. The minimum qualifying marks have been set at 35% for SC/ST candidates and 40% for candidates from all other categories.

CM inaugurates museum housing Buddha's relics
Patna: CM Nitish Kumar on Tuesday inaugurated the Buddha Samyak Darshan Museum-cum-Memorial Stupa in Vaishali district in the presence of Buddhist monks from 15 countries. Nitish also took part in the enshrinement ceremony of Lord Buddha's sacred relics in the main hall on the first floor of the stupa. "Amidst chanting of Buddhist hymns, monks ceremoniously enshrined the sacred relics of Lord Buddha in the new chamber. The CM participated in the installation and worship ceremony with devotion and paid homage to Lord Buddha. A written message from His Holiness the Dalai Lama was also read during the programme. Buddhist monks and followers from 15 countries attended the event. A large number of monks chanted hymns during the installation of the sacred relics," a communique issued from the chief minister's office said. Speaking on the occasion, the CM said, "The sacred relics of Lord Buddha have been enshrined on the first floor of the Buddha Samyak Darshan Museum-cum-Memorial Stupa. The relics of Lord Buddha were obtained from six places, with the ones from the Mud Stupa in Vaishali being the most authentic, as mentioned by the Chinese traveller Xuanzang in his writings." He also said, "The Buddha Samyak Darshan Museum-cum-Memorial Stupa will not only place Vaishali on the global Buddhist map, but also give new direction to tourism, culture and employment." by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Here's The Average Price of Gutter Protection For 2,500 Sq Ft House LeafFilter Gutter Protection Get Quote Undo Nitish added, "This is a historic and proud moment for all of us in Bihar. I continuously inspected the construction of the Buddha Samyak Darshan Museum-cum-Memorial Stupa to ensure its completion in a distinctive manner as soon as possible. It is a great pleasure that the memorial stupa has been inaugurated in Vaishali today. The design of this complex is also environmentally friendly to provide a pleasant experience for the visitors. " The CM further recalled that in 2010, he visited Vaishali and stayed there for four days. "During that visit, we explored the Mud Stupa, Abhishek Pushkarni pond, and the surrounding areas. When we went to see the Mud Stupa, we learned that the relics found beneath it were kept in the Patna Museum. This led to the idea of constructing a stupa here to house the relics found in Vaishali," he said.

Archaeologists find a sweet surprise below an ice cream shop: A medieval knight
Image credits: X The coolest treat this summer was received by the archaeologists in Poland, who found a sweet surprise under the site of a former ice cream shop. Researchers with the company ArcheoScan unearthed a skeleton of a medieval knight under a street corner in Gdańsk, Poland, in early July. They were digging at a site which was a former ice cream parlor named Miś, when they discovered a 700-year-old Gotland limestone tombstone engraved with the image of a knight in armor holding a shield. As per a translated news release from Poland's national heritage agency, early estimates dated the stone back to the 13th and 14th centuries. But that wasn't all. Just two days later, the researchers uncovered the knight's entire skeleton about five inches below the tombstone. The knight was about 40 years old at the time of death and measured about 5 feet and 7 inches tall, said anthropologist Aleksandra Pudlo from the Archaeological Museum in a post on the official Gdańsk website. The knight's bones were found in what the researchers believe is a medieval cemetery with nearly 300 other graves. "I can initially say that he was a man of strong build, over 40 years old. His height was approximately 170 centimeters, maybe more. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Sulaymaniyah: Unsold Furniture Liquidation 2024 (Prices May Surprise You) Unsold Furniture | Search Ads Learn More Undo In the Middle Ages, this was the average height for men in Gdańsk; women were on average 10 centimeters shorter. We will know more about the skeleton from this grave after conducting a thorough examination," explained Pudlo. According to the evidence, only eight of the 300 graves were covered with tombstones, which means that those were of the individuals who held important roles in the society of that time. Image credits: X The archaeological site was previously an ice cream shop that opened in 1962 and has since moved to another location. Not only a knight's skeleton, but also other discoveries such as remains of small cottages from the 12th and 13th centuries and a wooden church from 1140, believed to be the oldest in Gdańsk, have also been found at the site. According to the evidence, only eight of the 300 graves were covered with tombstones, which means that those were of the individuals who held important roles in the society of that time. Researchers will make use of 3D software to examine the tombstone, and archaeologists may try to reconstruct the object. While further research is required to determine the origins of the knight and the site, Pudlo shared that if all goes well, they could have the information by next year. Gdańsk was captured by the Teutonic Knights in the autumn of 1308, and the origin of the knight will determine if he served the Pomeranian dukes of the Sobieslaw dynasty or the Order of the Hospital of the Blessed Virgin Mary of the German House in Jerusalem.
