Jennifer Lopez spent her 56th birthday in Antalya, Turkey, as her Up All Night tour continues—and posted, among other photos, a makeup-free selfie to celebrate.
The selfie on July 24 came alongside a glamorous appearance with friends at a club that same night, where she danced next to a three-tiered pink and white cake in a curve-hugging, backless gown that plunged all the way down to her (very famous) backside. The carousel of images shared on Thursday included another selfie—this time in full glam—plus shots from her birthday bash, the multihyphenate holding bouquets of flowers, views from her hotel room, and, to close, a photo of a young Lopez celebrating, also with a pink and white birthday cake.
'What a gift you all are!' Lopez wrote alongside the photos. 'Thank you so much for all your beautiful birthday wishes.'
Listen, if this is what 56 looks like—it's difficult not to be excited about it. Lopez looks better than ever as she rings in a new year of life, and is spending her summer touring in bold and daring looks everywhere from Spain to Italy to Poland, where she performs next on July 25 in Warsaw. The tour—which kicked off on July 8—wraps up on August 10. To mark her birthday season, Lopez dropped a new song called 'Birthday,' and after the Up All Night tour wraps next month, she'll have a moment to recalibrate before her residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace begins in Las Vegas in December. ('Birthday,' by the way, features lines like, 'Name on top of the cake, it's my birthday / I'ma make this famous ass shake, it's my birthday.')
How does Lopez look so youthful at 56, as evidenced in her fresh-faced selfie? Well, to ask her, she is a devoted user of her own skincare brand, JLo Beauty, as she clarified in an Instagram video recently after a fan asked if she actually used her own line, which launched in 2021.
'You thought I came to play?' the entertainer joked on July 20, recording in what appears to be her bathroom.
'I've been diving into everything that you guys have been saying about JLo Beauty,' she said, before the question 'Do you use this every day or just when the cameras are on?' was asked.
'That's funny, because I'm standing in my actual bathroom right now,' Lopez said. 'No, I use it. I use it every day.' She added of the line, 'We want it to be like cashmere for your face, but make it clinically tested.'
'Your skin is something that you have to show up with every single day,' the performer added. Alluding to the line's more expensive price point, she continued, 'So, if there is a little bit of splurge in you, I would say do it on skincare, without a doubt.'
She added that—as opposed to other celebrity skincare lines, some of which Lopez admitted aren't worth it—JLo Beauty is 'luxury skincare that is clinically tested and trust me, I don't cut corners.'
Speaking to People about her brand, Lopez said of JLo Beauty, 'I think I've been thinking about it for about 20 years. Everywhere I went, I felt like everybody was always asking me about my skin. And as I got more mature, the questions came more often.'
'It was actually very nice, but I realized that it was almost like an obligation,' she added. 'Like, I had to put out a skincare line for everybody who was asking.'
Per People, Lopez spent her 56th birthday not only looking incredible but staying somewhere incredible, too—the Regnum Carya resort in a cavern-style suite, its 'Cave' suite, carved out of solid stone, 'all dramatically lit to emphasize the natural architecture,' according to the outlet.
The suite features a spa-like tub, separate eating area, 'and massive sliding doors that look out towards the property's lush greenery,' the publication continued, adding that a 'dazzling pool equipped with a swim-up bar is also offered at the cavern-style property.'
During Lopez's July 23 show, the singer was surprised when her backup singers and dancers encouraged the crowd to sing 'Happy Birthday' to her, which Us Weekly reported left her 'emotional.'
'I don't like to give advice to anybody,' Lopez then said from the stage. 'I feel life is a journey, and we all have lessons to learn and are just doing the best we can as we go along the way.' She did note, however, that she had just 'one piece of advice' for her fans.
'Do what you love with people that you love,' she said. 'You can never go wrong. You will go [through] every day happy. I believe that the happiness that you have in your heart is directly tied to the people around you and to how free you can feel around the people around you. And I hope that each one of you can feel as happy and as free as you made me feel tonight.'
'I love you so much,' she concluded.
