Musicians from around the world celebrate Ukraine with free concert
(WIVT/WBGH) – A local musician interested in sharing the beauty of the Ukrainian culture is hosting a free concert on Sunday.
Ü Lee is presenting Celebrate Ukraine with Music by Ukrainians at Saint John's Memorial Center. The concert features singers, violinists, a flutist, and pianists from all over the world.
Lee is from Taiwan and moved to the United States to pursue music, previously serving as a resident artist for the Tri-Cities Opera.
Although she is not Ukrainian, she loves to learn about new cultures, languages, and lifestyles.
Lee says it's important to show love and support to people of all cultures.
'For this concert, some of us are Ukrainian. So, for the Ukrainians, they understand what the pieces mean and everything. And for us that are not Ukrainians, we just want to show that we love to learn, we love to appreciate, and this is the way we do it,' said Lee.
The concert will begin at 3 p.m. on Sunday.
In addition to the music, there will be art on display as well as refreshments.
The event is free and open to the public however, donations are welcome.

Russian intelligence operatives are impersonating Ukraine's Security Service (SBU) in an expanded effort to recruit Ukrainian civilians for sabotage operations, the SBU said June 5. In more serious cases, they are asked to purchase chemicals for explosive devices, set fire to Ukrainian military vehicles or conduct sabotage against government buildings. "In some cases, Russian curators also demand that malicious software be installed on the victim's phone, allowing them to monitor activity and location in real time," the SBU statement said. While earlier recruitment efforts focused largely on teenagers, the SBU warned that elderly Ukrainians are now increasingly being targeted. The agency said it has disrupted several of these operations in recent weeks but did not provide specific examples. Since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion, Ukrainian officials say the Kremlin has stepped up intelligence-gathering and subversive activity inside Ukraine, with particular focus on coercing civilians into supporting reconnaissance and sabotage efforts. Zelensky slams Russia after three generations killed in drone strike
A Russian drone slammed into a residential house in central Ukraine overnight Thursday, killing three members of one family, including a one-year-old baby, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said. He accused Moscow of trying to "buy time for itself to continue killing" and called for the West to put "maximum sanctions" and "pressure" on Moscow, after Russia has repeatedly rejected calls for a full and unconditional ceasefire. A total of five people were killed in Pryluky, a city in central Ukraine, including victims from three generations of the same family. A local firefighting chief was responding to an earlier attack when his own house was hit by a Russian drone, officials said. "His wife, daughter and one-year-old grandson were killed," Zelensky said. Photos showed houses on fire, billowing grey smoke into the pitch black sky as rescuers battled the blaze.
