Now Faye Winter, 30, who was subject of 25,000 Ofcom complaints following her time on the series, has clapped back at the negativity after the summer series wrapped.
The Devon lass, who recently broke down in tears as she re-lived her explosive 2021 show stint and her furious rages at all of the lads, took to her Instagram Stories to make her point.
She posted an image taken from a plane showing a tranquil countryside scene and wrote: "Love Island is over.
"The comments I'm seeing are vile.
"Let's get something straight, these Islanders don't know you, and you don't know them.
"Before you post that nasty comment ask yourself will it actually make your life any better?
"You tuned in. You watched the drama unfold. You got exactly what you begged for, for years people have been saying it's boring.
"But with drama comes real people, real feelings and real consequences.
"The show's over, the performing monkeys you were entertained by are out of the circus now."

She added: "Let them rest, let them decompress.
"Let them process the experience and do their eight seasons of therapy with someone whose actually qualified.
"They don't need Agatha from accounts dishing out unsolicited opinions.
"If you liked them, support them. If you didn't move on with your life."
The show star then wrapped her emotional post with the words: "The cast regardless gave you the entertainment you'd begged for.
"Now give them what they deserve, a break."
VILLA DRAMA
Four years ago, Faye was at the heart of the villa drama as her relationship with Teddy Soares hit the rocks.
Senior financial consultant Teddy broke down in tears as his relationship with the feisty estate agent ended, with his emotional turmoil leaving fans begging for bosses to step in.
The argument saw 25,000 people complain to Ofcom, however the watchdog later threw the case out.
Meanwhile, his loved ones watching at home then called for Faye's removal from the Mallorca villa.
Teddy's cousin Tania Monteiro who lives in Portugal, frankly told the Sunday People: "I don't have words for what she has done."
Since the scenes were aired, Faye has sadly received death threats from sick viewers.
Upset viewers then vowed to vote Faye off the show and complain to Ofcom after she "screamed for an hour".
OPEN UP
Faye has candidly revealed the toll her mental health took after leaving the villa.
In a recent chat on Paul C. Brunson's We Need To Talk podcast, she said: "I remember feeling so lost, I remember feeling like what am I meant to do now?
"I remember feeling I don't want to be here."
Wiping away tears from her face, Faye went on and said: "I felt like all the pillars in my life were crumbling, and I didn't want to be here anymore."
Asked by host Paul what she meant by that, Faye said: "I just knew in my heart of heart that it would be easier if I wasn't here.
"But I just remember feeling I don't want to be in this house, I don't want to be around these people, I don't want to be doing this job, I feel worthless and I'm alone again."
This isn't the first time that Faye has bravely opened up about how the backlash from Love Island has affected her.
Speaking exclusively to Fabulous for Shamed, a YouTube series which explored the effect of trolling on women, the reality star told us: 'At one point, when I came out of Love Island, I thought I was the worst person in the world."

Love Island's Harry Cooksley admits dating friend of Montana Brown just days before entering villa
Love Island runner-up Harry Cooksley has admitted he was dating a friend of Montana Brown just days before stepping foot in the villa. The reality star, 30, faced the awkward confession after Montana claimed he had been romancing her close friend right up until filming began. The ex-contestant, who appeared in series three of the dating show, dropped the bombshell on TikTok hours before last week's final, telling her followers not to back Harry for the win. The rumour mill went into overdrive, and just days later Harry was grilled about the claims during an appearance on This Morning alongside his partner Shakira. Host Emma Willis asked if he could respond to the allegations that had been thrown at him - something Harry didn't deny. Dressed in a stripy knitted white vest and brown trousers he admitted: 'Yeah, I was dating before I came in – I think we all were. 'I went on a few dates with her friend. You're not in the villa until you're actually in the villa. I only told my family and two of my closest mates I was going on Love Island.' He insisted it wasn't a serious relationship, adding: 'It's true, I was dating people obviously. But my actual ex girlfriend came into the villa, so it wasn't like it was an actual ex. Things have changed a lot in the last eight weeks'. Shakira and Harry have had a rollercoaster journey in the villa with Harry's roaming eye causing plenty of upset. While the pair were originally coupled up, it wasn't long before his head was turned and he snuck off to the Hideaway with Helena. After changing his mind once again, he returned to Helena after the pair claimed to have a 'undeniable connection'. Fans will then remember the dramatic moment his ex Emma walked into Casa Amor, blindsiding Harry while he was coupled up with Helena. Despite their history, Harry and Emma didn't rekindle their romance, but his time in Casa Amor wasn't exactly scandal-free, with the footballer striking up a flirtation with bombshell Rheo, even sharing kisses under the covers. Ultimately, he returned to the main villa single and carried on with Helena – only to later admit he still had feelings for Shakira, claiming his relationship with Helena was more like friendship. It comes after Montana Brown urged fans of the dating show not to vote for Harry as she branded him a 'walking red flag' for the way he apparently treated her friend before flying off to Mallorca to 'find love' in the villa. Airing her thoughts in a TikTok video, Montana said: 'Guys I've not been involved in the whole Love Island chat so this is the tea. 'Harry was seeing someone that I know, one of my good friends, right before he went on the show and wrote her a letter and said, oh my gosh I know you're doing to be really surprised at this but I still love you and we're going to be together and I just need to sort my head out and all of this c**p. Discouraging her followers from voting for Harry and Shakira, she said: 'And now I'm like this guy cannot win. Although I love Shakira from what I've seen of her, she's incredible.

Love Island winner Toni reacts to Harrison's apparent side-eye after learning that Cach had dropped the L-bomb
Love Island's Toni Laites has reacted to her former flame Harrison Solomon's apparent 'side-eye' at the final. It was a momentous evening for the winners after Cach declared his love for Toni, also 24, the previous night. This was revealed to the audience after the pair scooped up the show's £50,000 prize pot. Following the L-bomb news, the camera cut to Harrison, 22, who was sitting with Lauren, 26 - the woman who came between him and Toni. The former islanders appeared less than impressed by the revelation, with some fans describing their reaction as 'bitter' and 'salty'. Other fans, however, argued that the pair were simply nervous about being in a live audience. When later asked if they were aware of Harrison's apparent eye roll on BBC Radio 1, the Love Island victors admitted that they were well aware of it. Dean Mccullough asked: 'What are your thoughts? Cach, you look confused.' Toni quickly questioned: 'Was he being bitter? Be better not bitter!' The Love Island victor's comment went down a storm with fans on social media, who were quick to react, writing: 'Toni and Cach catching every little detail like hawks!'; 'Toni's voice is so funny. [I] love the vindication she's living through rn.'; 'Toni and her one liners lol.' While Toni and Harrison appeared to hit it off when she first entered the villa, it wasn't long before he struck up another connection with Helena. His eyes wandered yet again during Casa Amor, when Toni met Cach, and he proceeded to get to know and become intimate with Lauren. The Love Island victor's comment went down a storm with fans on social media, who were quick to react, writing: 'Toni and Cach catching every little detail like hawks!' Despite finding connections with other people, Toni and Harrison recoupled before their relationship dramatically blew up when Toni discovered that he had slept with someone else while their connection was being put to the test. Thankfully, Toni and Cach's connection is off to a promising start now that they have left the villa and Toni has revealed that she is planning to relocate from Connecticut to the UK to be with her new boyfriend. They also revealed what they are planning to spend their winnings on, with Cach sweetly admitting: 'I've already got what I want, money's just a bonus.' Toni added: 'I'll take my mum on vacation, as well. After ours, of course…'

She's also branching into acting and has landed herself a role as a gangster's wife in Guy Ritchie's Netflix hit The Gentleman. Earlier this week, Maya thanked fans on Instagram after the summer finale. She said: 'Love island live final completed! What a night, what a b****y series.
