Out of the final 60,244 selected candidates, 48,196 are men and 12,048 are women.advertisementCalling the drive a 'milestone in transparency and efficiency,' CM Yogi highlighted that this is the first time the entire process — from exam conduction to final joining — has been executed in record time and with utmost fairness. The entire process included biometric verification, facial recognition, CCTV surveillance, and real-time Aadhaar authentication to eliminate malpractice.#WATCH | : , " 60,244 , , 11 https://t.co/1zz6W15ctI pic.twitter.com/6EcOImIeAD— ANI_HindiNews (@AHindinews) June 15, 2025
To accommodate such a large-scale recruitment, written tests were conducted in 10 shifts over five days. The subsequent physical and document verification stages were completed in all 75 districts and 12 PAC battalions, making use of RFID tech for race tracking.Interestingly, Agra led the tally in terms of selections (2,349), while the lowest came from Shravasti (25). Additionally, 1,145 candidates from neighbouring states like Bihar, MP, and Rajasthan were also selected. The drive ensured balanced representation across General, OBC, SC, ST, and EWS categories.advertisementThe Yogi government has also upgraded its training infrastructure. All recruits are now receiving hi-tech training within UP itself, a step up from earlier years when trainees were sent to CRPF centres.CM Yogi emphasised that over the past eight years, the double-engine government has provided more than 8.5 lakh government jobs and transformed the image of Uttar Pradesh from a riot-prone state to one rooted in law, order, and opportunity. He credited the state's recruitment reforms for eliminating nepotism and enabling merit-based selections. This large-scale recruitment not only strengthens the police force but also sets a benchmark for future government hiring across India.Trending Reel

Bihar SIR process is ‘voter-friendly, not exclusionary': SC says ECI now allowing 11 documents as identity proof

The Supreme Court Wednesday said that the Election Commission of India (ECI) permitting to present 11 documents as proof of identity for the latest Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voters list in Bihar, compared to only seven documents for the summary revision carried out in the state in 2003, showed that the process is 'in fact voter-friendly.' A bench of Justices Surya Kant and Joymalya Bagchi said this while hearing petitions challenging the SIR process. 'They are expanding the number of documents of identity… We understand your exclusionary argument may be with regard to Aadhaar, but the expansion of number of documents from what was followed in a summary revision to an intensive revision is, in fact, voter-friendly and not voter-exclusionary. It gives you more options,' Justice Bagchi said. 'See, it was seven items (in 2003). And now there are 11 items from which you can identify yourself as a citizen,' the judge added. The court said this as Senior Advocate A M Singhvi, appearing for the petitioners, contended that the process was exclusionary. Singhvi, however, continued to insist that it was. On Monday, the Supreme Court expressed dissatisfaction with the norm of prospective voters merely having to furnish a declaration that they are citizens for inclusion in the list, while holding that the ECI can decide to include a citizen in the voter list or exclude a non-citizen from it. The top court said self-declaration of citizenship may lead to legal complications. The remarks were in response to Singhvi's argument that it was not within the remit of the ECI to decide on citizenship.

Stray dog relocation row: Activists, lawyers clash as advocate is seen slapping commoners outside Supreme Court

With the Supreme Court issued a relocation order of stray dogs from Delhi-NCR residential areas to shelters on Monday, a fight escalated between animal activists and lawyers outside the apex court. In the ruling Supreme Court asked the authorities to relocate all stray dogs from Delhi-NCR residential areas to shelters within eight weeks to control rising rabies cases. However, dog lovers and lawyers – standing outside the Supreme Court – clashed with each other just after the Supreme Court order. Soon, the clash turned into physical assaults quickly. The incident was recorded by the bystanders from their camera, and now the video has gone viral. In the video, a lawyer and some people can be seen fighting with each other. Though the bystanders at the scene tried to intervene, both the dog lovers and lawyers outside the Supreme Court were seen shouting and abusing. Upset with Supreme Court order, a large number of animal activists and dog lovers gathered at India Gate in Delhi. Animal welfare and care services (AWC) took to X and wrote, "We are the voters and we want to practice our constitutional right. The Indian Constitution, particularly Article 51A(g), mandates citizens to protect and improve the environment, including wildlife, and to have compassion for all living creatures." Earlier on Monday, the Supreme Court in its order to civic authorities in the Delhi NCR region, directed them immediately build dog shelters, move stray dogs and update the court. The apex court added that authorities must hire professionals who can tackle dogs, carry out sterilisation and immunisation and also have CCTVs to ensure dogs don't escape. "We are not doing this for us, it is for the public interest. So, no sentiments of any nature should be involved. Action should be taken at the earliest. Pick up dogs from all localities and shift them to shelters. For the time being, forget the rules," Justice Pardiwala had. Former Union minister Maneka Gandhi strongly criticised the order. Speaking to PTI, she said, "You have three lakh dogs in Delhi. To get them all off the roads, you'll have to make 3,000 pounds, each with drainage, water, a shed, a kitchen, and a watchman. That will cost about ₹ 15,000 crore. Does Delhi have ₹ 15,000 crore for this?"

APAAR ID is now mandatory for CBSE board exam registration. Here is what you need to know about it

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has now made it mandatory for students to submit their APAAR IDs while registering for the board exams. The decision was ratified during the board's governing body meeting in June. APAAR stands for Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry. It was envisioned under the New Education Policy, 2020. Simply put, it is an identification number which is linked to enrollment, and a student's journey from pre-primary to higher education can be tracked through it. Report cards and results can be linked to it and accessed on Digilocker. The APAAR ID will be unique and remain the same through one's education journey. The government has also argued that it will put an end to fake education certificates, with students' APAAR IDs working as an authentication link. The proposal to link APAAR ID to board exam registration was part of the CBSE's Governing Body meeting in June. So far, the board required schools to send a list of candidates who will appear for the Class 10 and 12 board exams, alongside the registration details of students when they are in Classes 9 and 11. The minutes of the meeting note that there is no mechanism to link these details to any 'standardised identity system, leading to inconsistencies and lack of verifiability across databases'. 'The Ministry of Education has now mandated the adoption of APAAR IDs for all school students as part of the Digital Public Infrastructure for Education. This initiative aims to provide every student with a lifelong, universally accessible digital academic record, thereby streamlining data management and enhancing transparency in the education system,' read the minutes. After discussion, the Board decided that linkinage of student registration with APAAR ID will start in time for the 2026 board exams. 'The Committee members unanimously agreed on the proposal for linking APAAR ID with registration… and list of candidates. The chairperson… explained that the compulsory attachment of each student's APAAR ID will improve data accuracy and eliminate duplication,' the minutes said. Students or their parents will have to provide information such as name, age, date of birth, gender, photograph and Aadhaar numbers. The information will be verified using Aadhaar schools across Delhi, consent forms have been distributed over the past two years to get parents on board. Consultations and meetings have also been held with stakeholders. While registration for the APAAR ID was not meant to be mandatory initially, linking it with board exam registration can be seen as a step towards mandatory uptake. Parents have raised concerns about misuse of personal information and leaks. The government, however, has said that the information will not be accessible to anyone except those involved in educational activities or bodies such as the Unified District Information System for Education Plus or the UDISE+ database, scholarships, maintenance academic records, educational institutions and recruitment agencies.
