'I was overjoyed' - Colchester musician to support The Smashing Pumpkins
Songwriter Bridget Clegg, 22, writes rock and punk songs under the moniker, Bridget.
Bridget will be supporting beloved 1990s rock band, The Smashing Pumpkins, in Lower Castle Park on August 14 as part of the Colchester Castle Summer Series.
Thousands of people will flock to the area for the festival across eight dates.

She is the first Colchester act to be supporting any of the concert.
Bridget said: 'I was at work, saw the message, cried a few happy tears, nothing crazy…
'I was overjoyed and instantly called my parents.
'Let's just say I was the right amount of excited and cool about it.

"It makes everything seem very worthwhile because sometimes you do lose your confidence and it's so easy to forget how far you've come and what you've achieved.
'I am particularly emotional about it because I really did dream of doing this since I was a child; so, it's amazing to comprehend.'
Last year, the emerging artist released her debut EP, Damage Reversal and played Glastonbury Festival's Bimble Inn.

Two festivals are also happening, UB40 featuring Ali Campbell will headline the reggae day festival, Roots East, on August 17.
Manchester group James will headline the Out of Time Festival on August 22 which also features Lighting Seeds, Happy Mondays and cinematic British folk-rock back The Waeve which features Blur's Graham Coxon and songwriter Rose Elinor Dougall.
Bridget thinks the summer series concerts "are brilliant" and they offer 'something for everyone', and is looking forward to catching The Smashing Pumpkins and Skunk Anansie as 'they are heroes' of hers.
Excited - Bridget (Image: Amy S @esshuttr on Instagram) As a big fan of The Smashing Pumpkins, who used to get her dad to play Bullet With Butterfly Wings every morning on the way to secondary school, Bridget is practicing 'over and over' for the slot.
She said: 'I'm also flittering between being very excited, giddy and adrenalised and then calming it down and being serious, professional and normal about the prospect of what is happening.

Jessie J admitted to hospital six weeks after breast cancer surgery
Jessie J has revealed she has been in hospital with an infection, six weeks after she underwent surgery to treat breast cancer. The 37-year-old musician shared her early-stage cancer diagnosis in April this year and had a mastectomy to remove the disease, followed by breast reconstruction surgery. However, in an update to her followers on Sunday morning (3 August) she explained she had fallen ill unexpectedly and had spent time hospitalised in the same ward in which she had recovered just weeks earlier. 'How I spent the last 24 hours,' she wrote in a caption, alongside a picture of a cannula inserted into her arm. 'Six weeks post surgery and I was back in the same ward I was after my surgery,' she said. 'Not expected or planned.' She explained: 'I had and still have symptoms that pointed towards a blood clot on the lung. IT IS NOT A BLOOD CLOT THANK GOD. [But] they ran a lot tests, which ended up showing I have an infection (still trying to figure out what) and a little fluid on my lungs.' The 'Bang Bang' singer, whose real name is Jessica Cornish, said she is still unwell, but has discharged herself from hospital. 'Finding it hard to breathe in, but I discharged myself last night (I hate being in hospital) and will continue the investigation as an outpatient,' she explained. 'I know many people who will have gone through this or similar may or may not agree with me on this or not, and that's OK. But I know for me, the true hard journey of this whole thing physically was the day I went into surgery.' Reflecting on the impact of the recovery process, the musician explained how the illness had impacted her personal life, parenting, and career, in a follow-up post. 'The recovering physically is far from quick or easy, and mentally it's been the most challenging time for me,' she continued. 'Especially as a Mum with a toddler and being unable to be the mother I usually am. And having to change the plans for my career for this year has been frustrating after working so hard to get to the point and excited to do it all. But it's life. I know that. 'And don't get me wrong, getting the all clear was an is incredible, but that result didn't speed up or make the recovery from the surgery any easier physically.' In her final post she said the emergency had reminded her to 'slow down' in future.

Online food reviewer visits Warrington to try legendary town centre takeaway
A SUCCESSFUL online food reviewer travelled to Warrington to try a hugely popular takeaway. Danny Malin, a YouTube food vlogger with a channel by the name of Rate My Takeaway, journeyed to the town to sample Danny's Kitchen. He said the venue was rumoured to be Luke Littler's favourite Chinese takeaway – although The Nuke disputed this TikTok. Malin's channel is renowned for its candid reviews and characteristic table and chair setup, earning him more than 770,000 subscribers on YouTube. Having made a career out of reviewing British takeaways, he made a stop in Warrington town centre to try the legendary Danny's Kitchen. When walking to the shop, he asked some locals their opinion on Danny's Kitchen, to which they replied: 'A delicacy.' However, the beef satay was the star of the show. Watch: English golfer hits freak hole-in-one at Women's Open
Mimi Rhodes lit up the final day of the Women's Open with a bizarre hole-in-one that featured the Englishwoman's ball deflecting off her partner's ball before dropping into the cup. Rhodes and the Australia Stephanie Kyriacou were involved in this surreal scene on the 212-yard fifth. Kyriacou played first and her supreme effort looked destined to achieve an ace, itself, before veering away in the final rolls. Rhodes's strike was just as well struck, but appeared to be going too fast. That is until it took the billiards route, checking off Kyriacou's and ricocheting into the hole. Hearing the cheers, Rhodes looked bemused before raising her arms in celebration. Kyriacou hugged her, but must have felt slightly aggrieved as, ironically, she had played the better shot. No matter, Kyriacou enjoyed her own hole-in-one on the eighth on Friday. In the commentary booth, Henni Zuel, the former Tour pro, exclaimed: 'Unreal! I hope she buys Steph a nice present. Something more than a drink is deserved there.' Rhodes was being followed by at least 30 of her family and friends from Burnham & Berrow and their faith was emphatically rewarded by the Ladies European Tour rookie, who has already won three times this season. Rhodes's Royal Porthcawl heroics hauled her to four-under and within five of the leader Miyu Yamashita. The incident was reminiscent of Louis Oosthuizen's hole-in-one at the 2016 Masters. On that occasion, the South African's ball used that of JB Holmes as the canon on the 16th at Augusta and it was duly called 'the most incredible ace in major history'.
