Celebrity Gogglebox stars Shaun Ryder and Bez have addressed their future on the Channel 4 show Celebrity Gogglebox star Shaun Ryder has broken his silence after Channel 4 replacement fears. In a recent episode of the hit reality show, which features celebrities commenting on television programmes, Shaun and his Happy Mondays bandmate Bez were notably absent, sparking rumours among viewers. Earlier this month, their absence caused a stir among fans, before they returned for the series finale last week (July 11), much to the relief of viewers. Addressing the rumours, Shaun confirmed: "We haven't left or anything like that, no. Have we heck." He clarified the reason behind their brief disappearance, saying: "This time there's like seven episodes or something and we have filmed five or six, but no we haven't left," reports the Express. Shaun continued: "We love it. Bez comes round to mine and brings loads of s*** like ice cream and sweets and everything. The two girls [his daughters] would go mad if we stopped doing it because we get loads of free stuff!" During the recent season finale, Shaun and Bez were joined by the likes of Rylan Clark and his mum, Linda, Diversity stars Perri Kiely and Jordan Banjo, and This Morning hosts Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley. The famous faces shared their thoughts on popular programmes including the new season of Squid Game, First Dates, Olivia Attwood: The Price of Perfection, Match Me Abroad, and Netflix's fresh reality show, Building the Band. Shaun and Bez have been entertaining viewers on Celebrity Gogglebox since 2019 with their witty takes on various TV shows. Their unique brand of humour has won them many fans, some of whom are even campaigning for the iconic duo to get their own spin-off show. One fan took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to exclaim: "Shaun and Bez are hilarious... Can they not have their own show!!!" Another added: "Whichever channel gives Bez and Shaun their own show is on to a winner #CelebrityGogglebox," while a third said: "Would have to be C4 cause the beep machine would wear out". The Happy Mondays are set to take the stage at Colchester Castle Summer Series on Friday, August 22, with tickets already up for grabs. With the capacity to welcome up to 10,000 music lovers, the Colchester Castle Summer Series is gearing up to be the city's biggest musical extravaganza in recent memory. Set against the backdrop of one of England's most historic and picturesque settings, this event promises an array of live performances that are sure to be etched in memory.

'I was overjoyed' - Colchester musician to support The Smashing Pumpkins
A RISING Colchester musician 'cried a few happy tears' after finding out she's going to support one of her favourite bands. Songwriter Bridget Clegg, 22, writes rock and punk songs under the moniker, Bridget. Bridget will be supporting beloved 1990s rock band, The Smashing Pumpkins, in Lower Castle Park on August 14 as part of the Colchester Castle Summer Series. Thousands of people will flock to the area for the festival across eight dates. She is the first Colchester act to be supporting any of the concert. Bridget said: 'I was at work, saw the message, cried a few happy tears, nothing crazy… 'I was overjoyed and instantly called my parents. 'Let's just say I was the right amount of excited and cool about it. "It makes everything seem very worthwhile because sometimes you do lose your confidence and it's so easy to forget how far you've come and what you've achieved. 'I am particularly emotional about it because I really did dream of doing this since I was a child; so, it's amazing to comprehend.' Last year, the emerging artist released her debut EP, Damage Reversal and played Glastonbury Festival's Bimble Inn. Manchester group James will headline the Out of Time Festival on August 22 which also features Lighting Seeds, Happy Mondays and cinematic British folk-rock back The Waeve which features Blur's Graham Coxon and songwriter Rose Elinor Dougall. Bridget thinks the summer series concerts "are brilliant" and they offer 'something for everyone', and is looking forward to catching The Smashing Pumpkins and Skunk Anansie as 'they are heroes' of hers. Sir Tom Jones to perform concert at Colchester Castle Park
Sir Tom Jones has been announced as the final artist to perform in the grounds of a Roman castle. The Welsh singer will be at Colchester's Castle Park on Monday, 18 August, as part of the summer Colchester Castle Summer Series is expected to be the one of the largest music events the city has seen in years. "It's been six years since I last performed at Colchester Castle so I'm really looking forward to coming back," Sir Tom said. The 84-year-old's career has spanned more than six decades, and he has sold more than six million records. He added: "Spending a beautiful summer evening in such a wonderful and uniquely historic setting with an amazing crowd, it's going to be special."A spokesperson for the event said it will be an "unforgettable summer evening". The Smashing Pumpkins to play headline gig in Colchester
Grammy Award-winning alternative rock group The Smashing Pumpkins are to perform a headline gig in band are the latest act to announce a performance at Castle Park, Colchester, this Smashing Pumpkins will be joined on stage by the rock band Skunk Anansie and post-punk band White Lies on 14 performing as part of the Colchester Castle Summer Series are noughties pop-punk band Busted, garage singer Craig David, reggae band UB40, rock bands Texas and James, and ska group Madness. Castle Park will also be home to the ALB Festival in September, which will feature performances from pop stars Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Pixie Lott.
