Following the destruction of the Limchigad bridge, transportation in the region came to a standstill, prompting urgent restoration efforts.
Teams from the police, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), engineers, and other rescue units, along with the Indian Army's engineering wing from the Bengal Engineers Group (BEG), worked round the clock despite heavy rainfall to restore connectivity through the bridge.
Search, medical, and communication teams also joined the mission, culminating in the completion of the 90-foot Bailey bridge at 5 pm on Sunday.
The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) and Army engineers carried out the construction. Located on the Gangotri National Highway, the new bridge spans the Limchigad between Gangnani and Dharali, with a load capacity of nearly 50 tonnes, significantly boosting relief and rescue operations in the challenging Himalayan terrain.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, in a post on X, stated, "The construction work of the Bailey Bridge at Limchigad has been completed, and the bridge has been opened for traffic. Now, through this bridge, not only are relief materials and machinery being sent forward quickly, but the movement of local people has also resumed smoothly. In this difficult time of disaster, our government is working with full commitment to normalise public life."

Authorities are simultaneously working on clearing blockages along the highway at Songad, Dabrani, Harsil, and Dharali at a rapid pace.
However, heavy rain is hindering helicopter evacuations of stranded individuals.
Since the start of evacuation operations on Wednesday, 1273 people have been airlifted by Sunday evening from Dharali and Harsil.

‘Seed Of Pakistan Will Be Destroyed': Foreign Affairs Expert Warns Islamabad After Nuke Threat
Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir's nuclear sabre-rattling has drawn a blistering counter from foreign affairs expert Sushant Sareen, who warned that if Pakistan dares a nuclear strike on India, 'the seed of Pakistan will be destroyed,' while India would still endure and rebuild. Sareen evoked Chairman Mao's Cold War warning to the US, that even after catastrophic losses, a nation can rise again. He noted that past Indo-Pak wars avoided civilian infrastructure, but Munir's latest threat crosses a perilous red line. Mocking the Army Chief's 'puerile' mindset, Sareen likened his IQ to that of Pakistan's most notorious political loudmouths. The warning was stark, a nuclear exchange would not only annihilate Pakistan, it could shatter half the world, cementing India's stance against Islamabad's reckless nuclear posturing.#india #pakistan #nuclearthreat #asimmunir #sushantsareen #indianarmy #pakistanarmy #nuclearwar #worldwar3 #geopolitics #indianews #pakistannews #defencenews #internationalrelations #modi #imrankhan #warnews #asiapolitics #nuclearweapons #breakingnews #trending #trendingnow #toi #bharat #toibharat #indianews

Days after Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi addressed a gathering at IIT Madras, a deepfake video of his speech is doing rounds on the social media. The AI-generated deepfake video falsely portrays General Dwivedi claiming, 'We have already lost 6 jets and 250 soldiers" in the war against Pakistan. The Indian government on Tuesday issued a public alert regarding the digitally altered video, saying, 'The video has been artificially altered using AI technology." Press Information Bureau's fact check unit confirmed that the video is a deepfake — an AI-generated manipulation designed to spread misinformation and create confusion. 🚨 DEEPFAKE ALERT!A digitally altered video is circulating online, falsely showing the Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi admitting that India lost 6 jets and 250 soldiers in the war against Pakistan. #PIBFactCheck ✅ This is an AI-generated deepfake video. ✅ The… — PIB Fact Check (@PIBFactCheck) August 12, 2025 Taking to X, the PIB Fact Check wrote, 'DEEPFAKE ALERT! He also warned that technology, civil readiness and public participation will be as decisive as military might. 'The next war which we are looking at, it may happen soon. We have to prepare accordingly, and this time we will have to fight this battle together," General Dwivedi said. Earlier in May, India had launched strikes against Pakistan, in response to Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives on April 22. The operation was named Operation Sindoor. What Is A Deepfake?
