Ex-Broncos head coach returns to his old team as an advisor
The former Denver Broncos head coach has rejoined the Green Bay Packers in an advisory role. The 45-year-old coach will advise Green Bay's defense from the perspective of an offensive mind, according to Packers Wire.
Hackett coached under Matt LaFleur as an offensive coordinator with the Packers from 2019-2021. He was then hired by Denver as head coach in 2022, but he was fired 15 games into his tenure after an embarrassing 51-14 loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Christmas Day. Hackett went 4-11 with the Broncos before getting the boot.
After that, Hackett spent two seasons as an offensive coordinator with the New York Jets. He was stripped of play-calling duties last fall and was not brought back when the 2024 season ended. A few months after losing his position in New York, Hackett has now returned to LaFleur's staff in Green Bay.
After firing Hackett, Denver finished out the 2022 season with Jerry Rosburg serving as interim coach (he went 1-1). The team then hired Sean Payton in 2023. Payton is 18-16 through two seasons, including a 10-7 record last fall.

Broncos' projected wide receiver depth chart for 2025 and beyond
Courtland Sutton's secured. The Denver Broncos officially announced on Monday that Sutton has signed a four-year contract extension. The team has now secured quarterback Bo Nix's favorite target for 2025 early in training camp. Sutton is the team's obvious WR1, but how does the receiver depth chart look behind him? Entering his second season, Devaughn Vele is probably the favorite for WR2 duties, but third-round draft pick Pat Bryant will be competing to quickly win playing time this summer. Marvin Mims is a do-everything weapon for Denver's offense, and he's probably best suited to play in a slot/WR role. Troy Franklin is likely competing for snaps at the same position. Trent Sherfield was added to the mix this spring, but his biggest contributions will presumably come on special teams. The Broncos also have a pair of veterans in A.T. Perry (who is nursing an ankle injury) and Michael Bandy (who spent all of last season on the practice squad). At the bottom of the projected WR depth chart, Denver has four undrafted free agent additions. The year that each player is scheduled to become a free agent is listed in parentheses. For example, Sutton is signed through the 2029 season, so he's set to become a free agent in the spring of 2030. Broncos projected WR depth chart WR1: Courtland Sutton (2030) WR2: Devaughn Vele (2028) / Pat Bryant (2029) Slot: Marvin Mims (2027) / Troy Franklin (2028) ST: Trent Sherfield (2027) Veteran depth: A.T. Perry (2026) / Michael Bandy (2026) UDFAs: Joaquin Davis (2028), Kyrese Rowan (2028), Courtney Jackson (2028), Jerjuan Newton (2028) Not a bad group of receivers, especially when you account for tight end Evan Engram joining the offense. All five of the team's (projected) top receivers are signed through at least 2026, so Nix should be able to build great chemistry with the team's core group. Nix and his teammates are set to face the San Francisco 49ers in the Broncos' preseason opener on Aug. 9 (view the full preseason schedule). Social: Follow Broncos Wire on Facebook and Twitter/X! 3 wide receivers worked out for Broncos, including a UFL standout
The Denver Broncos brought in a trio of wide receivers for workouts on Tuesday, according to KUSA-TV's Mike Klis. The Broncos hosted Grant DuBose (24), Dax Milne (26) and Braylon Sanders (26). At the time of publication, none of the receivers have signed, but they might be kept in mind in case any injuries pop up later this summer. DuBose (6-2, 201 pounds) started his college career at the Division II level with Miles College in Alabama before transferring to the Charlotte 49ers. He was picked by the Green Bay Packers in the seventh round of the 2023 NFL draft, and he spent his entire rookie season on the practice squad. Green Bay cut DuBose after training camp last summer and he was picked up by the Miami Dolphins. DuBose caught two passes for 11 yards in three games last season and suffered a scary head injury against the Houston Texans in December. He has since recovered. Milne (6-1, 200 pounds) entered the league as a seventh-round pick out of BYU with the Washington Football Team (now the Commanders) in 2021. He spent two years in D.C., totaling 15 receptions for 120 yards and one touchdown in 28 games. After being cut by the Commanders last summer, Milne had a brief stint with the Las Vegas Raiders followed by a spell on the Carolina Panthers' practice squad. Sanders (6-1, 190 pounds) signed with the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent out of Ole Miss in 2022. He grabbed two receptions for 17 yards in three appearances as a rookie and then spent all of 2023 on the practice squad. After spending part of the 2024 season on the New England Patriots' practice squad, Sanders joined the UFL's DC Defenders ahead of the 2025 spring season. He posted 13 receptions for 332 yards and three touchdowns in seven regular-season games in the UFL. For now, the Broncos' wide receiver room appears to be set, but we'll see if the team opts to bring in one of the above three players down the road.
