Sundowns extend SEVEN contracts, release TWO stars
Betway Premiership champs Sundowns are shaking up their squad with two players heading out. Kaizer Chiefs are chasing one of them.
Sipho Mbule and Rivaldo Coetzee are the Sundowns duo on the market.
Meanwhile, Etiosa Ighodaro has done enough on loan at AmaZulu to pique Chiefs' interest.
Mosa Lebusa, Thapelo Morena, Terrence Mashego, Khuliso Mudau, Aubrey Modiba, Denis Onyango and Mothobi Mvala will all be staying with the champions until at least June 2026. Rivaldo Coetzee and Sipho Mbule have been released.
According to Soccer-Laduma , Russian side Baltika have stolen a march on Kaizer Chiefs and made a proposal to sign Etiosa Oghodaro. The 23-year-old Nigerian scored five times in the league last term for AmaZulu, on loan from Mamelodi Sundowns. The promising marksman is valued at R28.5 million by transfermarkt.

Former Sundowns manager Rulani Mokwena has vacated his post as head coach of Wydad AC. The 38-year-old has been strongly linked with a return to Orlando Pirates, and Rulani isn't doing much to quell those rumours. He served as Josef Zinnbauer's assistant in the 2019-2020 campaign.

Sipho Mbule transfer news: Mamelodi Sundowns star linked with Kaizer Chiefs move
BIG MOVE Sipho Mbule could transfer from Mamelodi Sundowns to Kaizer Chiefs, despite past disciplinary issues, as confirmed by his agent Mike Makaab. Picture: Samuel Shivambu/BackpagePix However, that does not seem to have deterred interest from the Soweto Giants. Reports said that Mbule attended training while under the influence of alcohol. The 27-year-old left Sundowns after he was loaned out to Sekhukhune United , as the deal was terminated early due to disciplinary issues. Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Sipho Mbule could be making a move to Kaizer Chiefs , the player's agent Mike Makaab confirmed on social media on Sunday evening. Sipho Mbule Offered to Kaizer Chiefs: Agent Makaab Clarifies Transfer Details "Let me set the record straight. Sipho Mbule has been offered to Kaizer Chiefs," Makaab said on X. "It is up to the club to make the decision and we need to respect that decision.' Of course, Makaab would like a transfer to a big club for his player but he insisted he was remaining objective by sharing the information. "Kaizer Chiefs is a professional football club and their decisions will be based on what they think is best for the club. I am not trying to influence anything. 'Realistically, no matter what I say, I will never please everyone. My job is to do the best for my clients while respecting the football clubs I deal with.' Last week, Chiefs announced the departure of Chivaviro, who has left the club with immediate effect. The forward joined Chiefs in June 2023, and the club chose not to extend his two-year contract. In total, Chivaviro has made 45 appearances for Chiefs while scoring nine goals. Chivaviro did not reach his full potential with Chiefs, as he struggled with injury during the 2023/2024 season. Chiefs completed another deflating season in the Betway Premiership as they ended ninth, their second league campaign in a row in which they finished outside the top eight. @Michael_Sherman IOL Sport

Komphela vows to maintain Sundowns' style at Club World Cup
'We're going to sell an African product and compete with the rest of the world,' he said. Mamelodi Sundowns senior coach Steve Komphela has assured fans that the team will remain committed to their possession-based style of play at the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup. Speaking ahead of the team's departure to the United States on Sunday for the expanded 32-team tournament, Komphela emphasised the importance of maintaining their footballing identity on the global stage. ALSO READ: Sundowns' Matthews relishes Dortmund clash at Club World Cup 'This is a world cup and it's only that it's a world cup for clubs but the mandate and the theme remains the same. We're going to sell an African product and compete with the rest of the world,' he said. 'As Africans what are we bringing to the table and it should not be Mamelodi Sundowns going to the club world cup to compete but it should be an African team. 'When they profile us, they don't profile Mamelodi Sundowns only, they go deeper to profile an African athlete. The qualities, characteristics, weaknesses and strengths of an African team and then they will go deeper into the details of every individual.' The Brazilians will kick off their group stage campaign at Inter & Co Stadium in Orlando, Florida, where they face South Korean side Ulsan HD on 17 June. They will then take on German giants Borussia Dortmund at TQL Stadium in Cincinnati, before concluding the group stage against Brazilian outfit Fluminense at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida. 'We can't move away from the fact that we are African and our qualities and characteristics we'll forever remain African,' Komphela added. 'As we go out there to export this culture and this sport, we're going to reflect what African football is all about. We can't be far from what Africans stand for in terms of playing the game so that's one thing we have to be mindful about when we go to the club World Cup. 'When we land in the US, they are not going to say this is a Club World Cup team, they will say this is an African team. We are African and we need to take pride in that.'
