Galaxy Unpacked July 2025: How to watch and what to expect
The summer Unpacked will be held in New York City on July 9 as an in-person event. However, as usual, there will also be a livestream on Samsung's YouTube channel for people who cannot attend the live event. The stream is embedded above for your viewing convenience. The event is scheduled to start at 10 AM ET / 3 PM BST / 4 PM CET.
A look at a dummy unit of the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7. | Image credit – The Sinza The stars of the show will likely be the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 phones. There have been plenty of leaks for Samsung's upcoming foldables, so we know quite a lot about them already. This year, we expect evolutionary updates rather than a revolution. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 will be the thinnest foldable Samsung has made so far. Reportedly, the phone may measure just 8.9mm when folded and just 4.2mm when unfolded. Also, we expect a bigger cover screen and foldable screens, as well as an upgraded 200MP main camera for the Fold.
Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 will reportedly come with two big updates: a larger cover display (around 4 inches) and a larger battery - reportedly, 4,300 mAh.
The Flip 7 is also said to be thinner, but the difference is expected to be less dramatic than the one between the Fold 7 and the Fold 6. And, reportedly, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 may feature an Exynos chip - the Exynos 2500, instead of Qualcomm's variant.
A 'more affordable' Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE is also expected to be unveiled at the event. The Fan Edition version will reportedly have the same design as the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and may sport many of its components. Under the hood, it's said to be powered by the Exynos 2400.
There are exciting rumors that Samsung may tease an upcoming tri- foldable phone at the event. We may not get a full announcement, but a teaser may appear at the event. The Unpacked announcement teased at a new addition to the Galaxy portfolio.
There aren't a lot of things known about this triple-folding Galaxy. We expect a short mention or a brief teaser about it during the event, similar to a "One More Thing" moment. A dummy unit could also be shown, just like how Samsung teased the Galaxy S25 Edge. A full reveal of the tri-folding Galaxy may happen later in the year, possibly in the fall.

Samsung is also expected to introduce the Galaxy Watch 8 series during the event. Rumor has it that the announcement will also mark the return of the beloved Classic model with a physical rotating bezel. Last year, Samsung skipped this model and unveiled the Galaxy Watch Ultra with the Watch 7. But this year, reportedly, there will be a Galaxy Watch 8 Classic. Reportedly, it will sport the new 'squircle' design that Samsung introduced last year, and it may also come with an action button. We expect the Exynos W1000, which is the chip in the Watch 7 and Ultra, to power this year's smartwatch models as well. Expect more health and tracking features and new software tricks. Meanwhile, rumor has it there won't be a Watch Ultra sequel this time, and instead, Samsung is expected to launch new color options for the existing model.
One UI 8. | Image Credit – Samsung Rumor has it that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 may come with One UI 8 (based on Android 16) out of the box. Speculatively, Samsung may start the rollout of the new OS around the Unpacked event to eligible devices. Right now, Galaxy S25 phones are testing the One UI 8 beta. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 is actually thinner than the Honor Magic V5
Here's a clear case of 'looking too much at spec sheets may not be very productive', especially when we're talking about 0.1mm differences. See, on paper, the Honor Magic V5 in one specific colorway (called Ivory White) is advertised by the brand to be 8.8mm thick when folded. Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold7, on the other hand, is 8.9mm thick when folded. So there's a clear winner here, right? A clear "world's thinnest book-style foldable', as it were. Well, not so fast. Place the two side by side and try to balance something off of them, as famed Chinese leaker Ice Universe has done in the video below, and the roles are reversed, as you can see - the Fold7 is clearly the thinner device. There is no accurate measuring tool, but we can still draw a rigorous conclusion: Galaxy Z Fold7 is the thinnest folding mobile phone in the world. I switched the positions of two mobile phones during the test, and the results remained the same, which showed that the factors of… — PhoneArt (@UniverseIce) July 15, 2025 So what gives? Well, it's all about the pre-applied screen protector on the Magic V5, which is not part of the official thickness measurement, but is, well, pre-applied, when you buy the phone, whereas the Samsung doesn't have such a perk. This just goes to show how irrelevant a 0.1mm thickness difference is in real life, despite brands loving to claim things like "world's thinnest" and "world's lightest". So please keep this in mind - you won't feel 0.1mm and you won't feel 1g in real life, thus it only makes sense to make your choice for buying a device based on claims like "world's thinnest" and "world's lightest" if you then want to brag to your friends about your device wearing such a (sometimes very short-lived) crown. In this day and age, a lot of foldables are already thin enough and light enough to be very comfortable to use even when folded, so we'd advise you to make your pick based on other traits they have which you require. What do you think, though? Is all of this too much hype or are even minute differences like these important to you? Let us know in the comments. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7

The Google Pixel Watch 4 will reportedly use the same old chipset, but will have a bigger battery
Google has abandoned Samsung and is switching to TSMC for future Tensor chipsets – the first, the Tensor G5, will power the Pixel 10 series and is already doing the rounds on Geekbench. The upcoming Pixel Watch 4, however, is not changing chipsets. The latest report is that Google will reuse the same chipset as on the Watch 3 and the Watch 2, the Snapdragon W5 Gen 1. This 2022 chip is fabbed on a 4nm node and has four Cortex-A53 cores. We recently heard that Qualcomm is working on a Snapdragon W6, with one big Cortex- A78 core and four A55 cores, but it seems that Google has no interest in that. Instead, the company may just be biding its time until its custom Tensor chip is ready in time for the Pixel Watch 5. That's what we heard back in late 2024 and the leak indicated that the Tensor chip will have the same 1x A78 + 4x A55 setup as the W6 – that's also the same configuration as the Exynos W1000 that Samsung reused for the Galaxy Watch8 series. Back to the Google Pixel Watch 4. We've seen renders, which pointed to a thicker body – 14.3mm, up from 12.3mm. The latest info indicates that both sizes – the 45mm model code named 'kenari'/FK23 and the 41mm model code named 'meridian'/FME23 – will have larger batteries, which may explain the chunkier build. The Pixel Watch 4 41mm will have a 327mAh battery (+20mAh from the Watch 3 41mm), while the 45mm model will have a 459mAh battery (+39mAh). Those represent +7% and +9% increases, respectively. That's not much considering the W5 Gen 1 chip is not the most efficient around. Charging speeds will be increased too, but no concrete numbers have leaked yet. Besides offering a choice between 41mm and 45mm size, the Pixel Watch 4 will come in Bluetooth and 4G flavors. And it will be available in several colors with different bands ranging from two-tone leather through Active Sport band and to metal mesh bands. We expect that the new Pixel Watch 4 will be unveiled alongside the Pixel 10 series. Source

Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 might break records in a key market for Samsung
Samsung might reach a record-breaking number of pre-orders for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 in South Korea. The positive initial response to the series is an indication that the new lineup might break the current pre-orders record for the series, which was set two years ago. Analysts are basing their predictions on the very high interest consumers have shown in the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Fold 7 even before the official announcement of the devices. The pre-order reservations on Samsung's official website reached over 160,000 people in the two weeks before the devices' reveal on July 9. The current pre-order record for Samsung's foldables in Korea is held by the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5, which reached 1.02 million pre-orders. Last year's Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 failed to improve that benchmark, selling about 10% fewer units during pre-orders than their predecessors. A key caveat to consider is that this prediction was made for the South Korean market. While that's one of the most important markets for the company, various factors unrelated to the quality of the devices might affect their the most important right now is the turmoil at South Korea's biggest mobile carrier, SK Telecom. The company was hit by a massive data breach, which led to a dramatic loss of subscribers over the past few months. Its main competitors – KT and LG U+ – are happily offering amazing deals in am attempt to attract those subscribers. Galaxy Fold 7: Super-thin design and wider cover screen! (hands-on) The release of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 is seen by all South Korean telecoms as an opportunity to go all-out in attracting new customers. In addition, the Korean government recently repealed a regulation requiring telecoms to disclose the details of carrier subsidy deals. With that change, carriers could increase the subsidies as much as they want in order to attract new subscribers. Galaxy Flip 7: maxed-out cover screen and thinner design! (hands-on) I think there's a high chance that analysts will hit the mark with this prediction. After the underwhelming lineup from last year, Samsung made the necessary changes to both its foldables while keeping their prices unchanged. Even if there are some decent alternatives, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 are probably the easiest choice for anyone who wants to own a foldable. $1120 off (53%) Pre-order the Galaxy Z Fold 7 at Samsung and grab a free storage upgrade on the 512GB model.
