Brewers' Brandon Woodruff has bruised elbow after getting struck by line drive in rehab appearance
MILWAUKEE — Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Brandon Woodruff has a bruised right elbow after getting struck by a line drive while on a rehabilitation assignment with Triple-A Nashville.
Woodruff left his appearance on Tuesday after getting hit by a 108 mph liner off the bat of Gwinnett's Cade Bunnell. He had an X-ray and other testing to confirm the diagnosis of a bruise.
A 32-year-old, two-time All-Star, Woodruff last pitched in the majors on Sept. 23, 2023.
He missed the Brewers' 2023 NL Wild Card series loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks with a shoulder injury that required surgery and prevented him from pitching last year. He was pitching for Nashville and preparing to return to the big leagues last month when he experienced tendinitis in his right ankle.

WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Jacob Wilson had three hits and two RBIs, Brent Rooker drove in the tiebreaking run and the Athletics beat the Baltimore Orioles 5-4 on Friday night. Mason Miller got the last five outs to get his 13th save as the Athletics got back-to-back wins for the first time since May 4-5 and ended the Orioles' six-game win streak. Miller struck out two after coming in with one out and the bases loaded in the eighth inning. He then struck out Adley Rutschman looking on three pitches to begin the ninth before walking Ramón Laureano on a full count. Ryan O'Hearn flied out to left and Ramón Urías hit a comebacker to end it. Dylan Carlson hit his third homer — a two-run shot in the second off JP Sears to give Baltimore the lead. Jackson Holliday doubled and scored on a sacrifice fly by Ramón Laureano to make it 3-0 in the third. The Athletics scored four runs to take the lead in the bottom of the third against Dean Kremer. Lawrence Butler drove in the first run with his 20th double, Wilson had a two-run single, and Tyler Soderstrom put the A's ahead with a run-scoring grounder. Holliday hit his eighth homer — a solo shot leading off the fifth — to tie it. He finished a triple shy of the cycle. Butler, Wilson and Rooker had three straight singles in the bottom of the fifth to give the Athletics a 5-4 lead. Sears (5-5) gave up four runs and four hits in five innings. The Athletics have a 5.79 team ERA — the worst in the majors — and the Orioles' 5.10 is the third-worst. Now her family is hoping to raise awareness to spare others the heartache. Renna O'Rourke, 19, died Sunday, June 1, after spending four days in the ICU her father, Aaron O'Rourke, said via GoFundMe. In an emotional interview with AZ Family, Aaron and his wife, Dana O'Rourke, said their daughter always dreamed of being famous. 'She always said, 'I'm gonna be famous, Dad. Just you watch. I'm gonna be famous,' and unfortunately this is not under the most optimal of circumstances,' Aaron said while sitting beside his wife in the Thursday, June 5 broadcast on AZ Family. 'Dusting,' also known as 'chroming' or 'huffing,' is a viral trend where a person inhales computer dusting spray as a means to get high. According to the GoFundMe, Renna was pronounced brain dead after purposely breathing in the cleaning spray. 'There's no ID required. It's odorless. It's everything kids look for. They can afford it, they can get it, and it doesn't show in mom and dad's drug test,' Dana told AZ Family. 'She never regained consciousness,' her mother added. 'We don't have children to bury them.' Renna's cause of death was sudden sniffing death syndrome, AZ Family reported. Aaron plans to use the GoFundMe proceeds not only to cover the extensive medical bills, burial costs and therapy costs, but 'to spread awareness about the dangers of Huffing/Dusting, the practice of inhaling keyboard cleaner or similar.' Dr. Randy Weisman, who leads the ICU at HonorHealth Scottsdale Osborn Medical Center, told AZ Family that people who 'dust' can feel drunk and euphoric, but that only lasts for a few minutes. 'When they inhale these chemicals in the gas it will actually replace the oxygen within their lungs and within the rest of their body,' he continued.
