Shoigu arrives in Pyongyang for talks with Korean leader

Pyongyang - Saba:
Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu arrived in the South Korean capital, Pyongyang, on Tuesday to meet with the North Korean leader and discuss the implementation of previously reached agreements.
Shoigu is expected to meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, according to TASS news agency. This will be his third visit to North Korea in the past three months.
A statement issued by the Russian Security Council Secretariat stated: "Sergei Shoigu arrived in Pyongyang at the special request of Russian President Vladimir Putin to hold talks with the North Korean leadership in implementation of the agreements reached during the previous visit on June 4."
The statement indicated that these agreements are being implemented within the framework of the "Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement" between Russia and North Korea.
Shoigu last visited Pyongyang on June 4, where he also met with Kim Jong-un. The two sides discussed the situation in Ukraine, the reconstruction of the Kursk Oblast in southwestern Russia, and the commemoration of the Korean fighters who contributed to the liberation of the Oblast.
Previously, the Russian Security Secretary visited North Korea on March 21, and was also received by Kim Jong-un. Shoigu reported that he delivered a message from President Putin to the North Korean leader. Issues related to Ukraine and the start of a dialogue between Russia and the United States were also discussed.

Moscow - Saba: The Russian Ministry of Defense announced on Thursday that its air defense forces downed 81 Ukrainian drones last night over several regions. Sputnik quoted the ministry as saying in a statement: "Last night, from 9:20 PM Moscow time on June 18 to 6:40 AM Moscow time on June 19, operational air defense systems intercepted and destroyed 81 Ukrainian drones." The statement added: "19 drones were fired over Bryansk Oblast, 17 over Kursk Oblast, 13 over Smolensk Oblast, 7 over Volgograd Oblast, 6 over Oryol Oblast, 5 over Rostov Oblast, 5 over Crimea, 3 over Belgorod and Astrakhan Oblasts, 2 over Ryazan Oblast, and 1 over Moscow Oblast."
