Mexican band Grupo Firme cancels US show, saying their visas were suspended by Trump administration

MEXICO CITY (AP) — The popular Mexican regional music band Grupo Firme announced on Friday that it was canceling a performance in a music festival in California over the weekend after the United States government suspended the musicians' visas. It comes after the U.S. State Department has revoked visas of a number of Mexican musicians for playing a genre of music that it says glorifies cartel violence. The group, which has soared to international fame playing Mexican regional music, said in a statement posted on its Instagram account that the visas of them and their team are currently under 'administrative review by the U.S. Embassy" and that it would make it 'impossible' for them to perform in the La Onda Fest to be held in the city of Napa Valley, California on June 1. But the post didn't detail what it would mean in the long term for the musical group. The U.S. Embassy in Mexico said that visa cases are confidential according to U.S. law and couldn't provide more information on the case. The suspension is just the latest in a series of moves the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump has taken targeting Mexican artists in the genre, who in some cases have glorified the leaders of cartels as sort of Robin Hood figures. While the genre of 'narco-corridos' has stirred controversy, much of the music also speaks to the harsh realities facing Mexican youth caught in cartel violence. Two months ago, the Mexican musical group Los Alegres del Barranco was sanctioned after it projected images of the leader of the feared Jalisco New Generation Cartel at a concert in the western state of Jalisco. 'I'm a firm believer in freedom of expression, but that doesn't mean that expression should be free of consequences,' U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau said at the time. 'The last thing we need is a welcome mat for people who extol criminals and terrorists.'

Kylie Kelce Admits To Parenting Mistake After Welcoming Fourth Baby

Kylie Kelce Admits To Parenting Mistake After Welcoming Fourth Baby originally appeared on Parade. Jason Kelce and his wife Kylie may have four children — but it doesn't mean they've stopped learning on their parenting journey. The couple welcomed their fourth daughter Finnley in March and Kylie says she recently realized that she'd picked up a bad habit while caring for their youngest child. The Not Gonna Lie podcast host admitted that she noticed that she's been scrolling through her phone a little too much. Kylie explained that she can't help but look back at old photos of her other children and compare baby Finn's milestones to her older daughters. "I will say, it's almost as bad as Googling on your fourth kid, when you start scrolling back in your camera roll to see what your other children were doing at this age," Kylie shared on the May 29 episode of her podcast. "It's a bad idea. It's not a good idea. And I would like to stop doing it, but I can't." While it's certainly not the biggest parenting flaw, Kylie added that she is admittedly is still heading to Google when she has questions about raising a newborn — even though it's the fourth time she's doing it. "I am still Googling things 'cause that doesn't stop either," she shared. "It's similar like when people say to me, 'Well you have four kids what's your advice?' No, I actually still have no idea what I'm doing. We're all winging it." Kylie also shared some details about what the past few months have been like with the new addition to the fam, revealing that Finnley prefers to be close to mom when she's napping. "I birthed a child who prefers contact naps. We love that. I have been attached to the tiny human for the past 8 weeks," Kylie said, adding that she was going to have the "sickest bicep" from holding the little girl so much. She continued, "Maternity leave for me is figuring out how to do things one handed again. That is a skill that you have to master. We have graduated to having her wrapped onto me, no exaggeration, anywhere probably anywhere from three to five hours a day collectively." Kylie added that she's been trying to include her daughters as much as possible in caring for Finnley — although Bennett, 2, tends to pretend that her sister doesn't exist. Meanwhile, Wyatt, 5, and Elliotte, 4, have been "super helpful" with the baby "They want to talk to her. She very much locks in on their faces and is distracted from an upset moment by their voices and by how close they get which is, I mean, one of the cutest things you've ever seen in your whole life," Kylie shared. ‘Doctor Odyssey' Crewmembers Sue Disney for Alleged Sexual Harassment on Set, ‘Blacklisting' Them After Filing Complaint

Three former crewmembers on the ABC medical series 'Doctor Odyssey' are suing 20th Century and its parent company Disney for allegedly enabling an 'unchecked campaign of sexual harassment for months' on the set of the series. In the suit, filed Friday in Los Angeles Superior Court, plaintiffs Caroline Mack, Alicia Haverland and Ava Steinbrenner claim that Tyler Patton, the assistant prop master on 'Doctor Odyssey,' would subject the three to 'sexual jokes, innuendos, comments, sexual gestures and images' as well as 'unwanted touching,' such as 'openly grabbing a visiting female employee's buttocks.' More from Variety With Disney's New 'Lilo & Stitch' in Theaters, Here's How to Get the Original Animated Film on DVD/4K Ultra HD 'The Devil Wears Prada' Sequel Set for May 2026; Ridley Scott's 'The Dog Stars' Dated for March Justin Connolly, After Exiting Disney, Joins YouTube as Global Head of Media and Sports; Disney Sues Over Exec's Hiring In one account contained in the suit, Patton allegedly sent prop department employees a story appearing to reference news that President Biden had dropped out of the 2024 election. But the link redirected to a picture of a naked male with an erect penis. Other comments allegedly made by Patton include calling one of the plaintiffs a 'chick' and saying 'come over here and open your mouth, here's the worm.' The lead prop master on 'Doctor Odyssey' was Tammie Patton, Tyler's wife. The suit claims that Tammie and Disney hired Tyler with 'knowledge that prior allegations of sexual harassment had been lodged' against him. Patton was previously named in a 2010 lawsuit against Universal Network Television, which claimed advanced sexual harassment and retaliation allegations on the set of 'House.' In that complaint, ex-employee Carl Jones alleged that Patton groped his genitals and made sexual propositions to female co-workers. The 'Doctor Odyssey' suit also claims that Patton's harassment would occur 'daily and frequently in the presence of management.' During one confrontation, Patton allegedly exclaimed, 'If I wasn't fucking the boss, I'd be fired.' Patton was terminated after plaintiffs reported his behavior to human resources, according to the complaint. Shortly after, Tammie Patton allegedly 'began to engage in retaliatory behavior,' including threatening their employment. The entire props department was later laid off, though Disney 'then almost immediately hired a whole new set of employees,' the suit states. The suit argues that 'Defendants wiped the Prop Department's slate clean to avoid having to deal with any remaining 27 employee-relations issues tied to Tyler Patton's and Tammie Patton's misconduct.' The plaintiffs also claim that they have been 'blacklisted' by Disney 'in retaliation for bringing forward their good-faith complaints.' Disney did not immediately respond to a request for comment. 'Doctor Odyssey' has not yet been renewed for a second season. It is now the only scripted series at ABC with an undetermined future.
