The Pittsburgh Steelers put together a very interesting draft. While they didn't take a quarterback as early as expected, waiting until the sixth round to bring in Will Howard, they made other big-time moves before that selection.
One of the more intriguing additions was former Ohio State standout pass rusher Jack Sawyer.
Sawyer, who was one of the heroes of the College Football Playoff for the Buckeyes, will now look to help T.J. Watt with pressure off of the edge. So far, he is making a major impression on the Steelers and his new teammates.

Alex Highsmith, Pittsburgh's veteran linebacker, spoke out with major praise for Sawyer. He likes what he's seeing from the rookie defender.
"He's gonna be a dog for us," Highsmith said. "He's got his right head on his shoulders and he works hard. Like I said, he's got the right mindset. It's been cool being able to interact with him and help him out. I came in as a rookie, and T.J. [Watt] and Bud [Dupree] helped me out a lot, as well. That's one thing I want to be able to pour into the new guys that are coming in."
Two things can be taken from that quote. Number one, Sawyer could provide an instant impact for the Steelers. Secondly, Highsmith has become a major leader for the defense and will be very helpful for young players.
Of course, the rumors surrounding Pittsburgh on the offensive side of the football have not died down. Aaron Rodgers still has yet to sign a contract and the quarterback situation is a complete question mark.

Even with Rodgers onboard, the Steelers would need a great defense to compete in the AFC. They seem to have put that defense together well.
During his college career at Ohio State, Sawyer played in four seasons and 54 total games. He racked up 144 total tackles to go along with 23 sacks, six forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, two defensive touchdowns, one interception, and 11 defended passes.
There is no question that Sawyer has the talent to become a special player at the NFL level. Already, he's starting to show that potential and his teammates are clearly taking notice.

Ex-Steelers QB Russell Wilson says three qualities make HC Mike Tomlin special
Ex-Steelers QB Russell Wilson says three qualities make HC Mike Tomlin special While many believe HC Mike Tomlin's 'winning records' are overrated, ex-Steelers QB Russell Wilson would strongly disagree. Wilson, who recently appeared on the 7PM in Brooklyn with Carmelo Anthony podcast, was asked to explain what makes Tomlin a 'steadying force' in the NFL — and the former Steeler and current Giants QB had this to say: 'I think there are three things about Mike Tomlin that are special. I think the first thing is his ability, his obsession, and his work ethic. He's there early — at 4:30 in the morning — watching film himself. Like, head coaches don't do that,' Wilson explained. 'That's the first thing. I think the second thing is his ability to connect to players — his ability to have connectivity, his ability to relate to the Black kid, to the white kid, to the guy that's been successful, to the guy that's just starting,' Wilson argued. 'I think ultimately, the [third] thing that's really unique about him is, you know, the ability to embrace the noise — to embrace the obstacle. He stares it right in the face and doesn't run from it.' Tomlin definitely personifies hard work, relatability, and embracing challenging situations — but there's been little playoff success that has come out of it. Ohio State Gets Good News on Touted Playmaker This Week
Ohio State Gets Good News on Touted Playmaker This Week originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Ohio State Buckeyes will get a head start on the 2027 recruiting class this month, particularly at tight end. Advertisement Four-star tight end Brock Williams told On3 last week that he will visit Columbus, Ohio during the first week of June. "Four-star Libertyville (Ill.) tight end Brock Williams tells Lettermen Row that he plans to visit Ohio State from June 6-7," wrote On3's Mick Walker. "Williams will be on campus the same time as four-star Huntington Beach (Calif.) quarterback and Buckeye commit Brady Edmunds. "The two have been in frequent communication over the past few months." Ohio State made its offer to the 2027 tight end prospect in January. Ohio State Buckeyes football head coach Ryan Day© Adam Cairns/Columbus Dispatch / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images On3 ranked Williams as the No. 1 tight end in the 2027 recruiting class. According to other rankings, Williams is the No. 2 tight end in the class. Advertisement Based on the 247Sports composite rankings, Williams is the No. 2 tight end but a five-star prospect. As expected because he's a highly regarded recruit, Williams has received dozens of offers according to 247Sports. But the Buckeyes may be an early favorite for the top tight end. Williams told On3 his first visit at Ohio State in March went "amazing." 'The thing that stood out the most, how I was treated and how many of the recruits were treated. All around an amazing visit," said Williams. Standing at 6-foot-5 and 210 pounds, Williams will play his final two high school seasons for Libertyville in Illinois. The top-rated tight end also plays defense for his high school team. Ex-Steelers WR George Pickens goes viral after claiming he forced trade out of Pittsburgh
Ex-Steelers WR George Pickens goes viral after claiming he forced trade out of Pittsburgh George Pickens isn't taking criticism from Steelers fans lying down — as he recently took to social media to clear up who was really responsible for his trade to the Dallas Cowboys. In a now-deleted tweet, Pickens claimed that he forced his trade out of Pittsburgh — contradicting previous reports that Steelers HC Mike Tomlin made the call: 'I forced [the trade] buddy. [The Steelers] were gladly keeping me. Have a nice day and a blessed one my guy.' Reports had been circulating that the disgruntled wide receiver wanted to remain a Pittsburgh Steeler — which makes this new take difficult to believe, even if it's from Pickens himself. If he truly did force his way out of Pittsburgh, it would explain why the Cowboys gave up only a third-round pick, as the Steelers would've lost all leverage.
