Rajasthan BJP leaders in Gujarat to attend training camp; Congress questions need
All the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party leaders in Rajasthan, including the Cabinet members, MPs and MLAs, have left for Kevadia in Gujarat to attend a three-day training camp on good governance. The camp will apparently highlight the 'Gujarat model' for stability and administrative efficiency.
Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, both the Deputy Chief Ministers and the ruling party's organisational leaders, including State president Madan Rathore, will be attending the closed-door sessions covering a wide range of subjects. The absence of Ministers and BJP leaders from the State till May 7 may temporarily pause routine works here.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP national president J.P. Nadda, BJP national general secretary B.L. Santhosh and Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and Bhupender Yadav are likely to address the camp. Since the BJP has been in power in Gujarat continuously since 1995, the governance model's replication will be high on the camp's agenda.
According to the party sources, the training sessions will cover the subjects such as the fundamentals of good governance, internal discipline and communication, public engagement strategies, understanding legislative procedures and effective dissemination of the government's schemes.
The BJP office-bearers will also be trained in the management for the upcoming panchayat and urban local body elections. Senior leaders are likely to apprise the participants of the strategies to maintain strong grassroots presence and get inputs about the performance of Ministers and the government.
CM Mr. Sharma stopped over in Vadodara on the way to Kevadia and attended a felicitation ceremony organised by the Rajasthani community in the town. The camp was inaugurated at the tent city located near the Statue of Unity in Kevadia on Monday evening.
The Opposition Congress has questioned the need for organising the training camp after the completion of one-and-a-half years of the BJP government in the State. Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Tika Ram Jully asked if an 'untrained government' was running Rajasthan and it would henceforth be controlled directly from Gujarat.
Veteran Congress leader and former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said the BJP high command might have felt that the State government had failed and needed training. 'What will be there in this training that cannot be done in Rajasthan? When the people of the State are suffering with the lack of water and power in summer, the entire BJP government is in Gujarat for fun and frolic,' Mr. Gehlot said in a post on X. (EOM)

BJP minority wing's chaupal in Shaheen Bagh to encourage women to join army gets tepid response
New Delhi: Inside a hall adorned with brightly coloured banners of BJP's minority wing at Shaheen Bagh on Tuesday, a chaupal was organised to encourage women to join the Indian Army. It was a stark contrast to the passionate protests that echoed through the lanes of Shaheen Bagh in 2020. Shaheen Bagh was the epicentre of the CAA-NRC protest in 2020. The chaupal drew a small gathering of mostly party workers. When the event started, five women were present, but after a few minutes, only two were left. Both women were associated with the party's minority wing. Speaking at the event, Jamil Siddiqui, national president of BJP's Minority Morcha, said the chaupal was organised after the successful completion of 11 years of tenure of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. "We are talking about govt schemes and achievements of the Prime Minister, highlighting how he elevated India's status globally and led the country to new heights of success. We are also encouraging our daughters to step out, pursue education, and join the workforce, including the military. " Giving the example of Col. We will encourage our daughters to step out, advance, and participate in education and employment." A copy of the Indian Constitution was also distributed among the participants. Outside the chaupal, women said they were unaware of the programme as there was no announcement or publicity about it. However, women added that Col Qureshi is an inspiring figure for them. Aeman Hayat Siddiqui, who aspires to become a teacher, said, "Col Qureshi is an inspiration. We want our daughters to make progress and make the country proud." Keeladi Report Not Technically Supported
Chennai: Union minister for culture Gajendra Singh Shekhawat on Tuesday said the report on Keeladi submitted by ASI superintending archaeologist Amarnath Ramakrishna was not "technically well-supported" and more data was required. The Union minister was in Chennai to speak to reporters about the 11 years of achievements of Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led govt at the centre. Speaking to reporters at the BJP headquarters in the city, Shekhawat said, "The report is not technically well-supported and established yet. A lot of things are to be done before recognition and accreditation are accorded to the findings presented by the archaeologist. Let them come up with more results, more data, evidence, and proof. One finding cannot change the discourse of history." Archaeologist Amarnath Ramakrishna submitted a 982-page report on the first two phases of the Keeladi excavation to ASI in Jan 2023. But the ASI on May 21 asked him to correct the report to make it "more authentic". "People in positions are trying to flare up the regional sentiments, but we need to be cautious. Let the research get completed on all parameters and then let us take a call on that. This is a subject not to be decided by politicians but by archaeologists with sound technical expertise," Shekhawat said. Asked about DMK's charges that BJP was not ready to accept the ancientness of Tamil culture, Shekhawat refuted it, saying BJP accepts that Tamil is an ancient language and the PM has said this on several occasions. Meanwhile, state finance minister Thangam Thennarasu, who is also the state minister for archaeology, responded to Shekhawat, saying it is usual for BJP to find reasons to reject Tamil history. "First, they said there was nothing in Keeladi. Next, the archaeologist was transferred. Then they refused to allocate funds and finally, they shelved the report for two years. Only the reasons differ for rejecting Tamil history," Thangam said.
