I'm Obsessed With The Last Two Episodes Of The Rings Of Power, And Now There's A Related Reason To Get Excited For Season 3

It's been months since Rings of Power's Season 2 finale was watched by those with an Amazon Prime subscription. Now, finally, the wheels on Season 3 of this Lord of the Rings prequel are turning! On top of that, it's been confirmed that production is set to start in the spring and some excellent directors are signed up to lead the adventure. This includes the director who made the final two episodes of Season 2, which has increased my excitement for this junior installment tenfold.
If you know anything about the behind-the-scenes team of Rings of Power, you know Charlotte Brändström is one of its superstars. She's directed some of the show's biggest episodes – including last season's epic penultimate episode and finale – and it's been confirmed by Prime Video that she's returning for Season 3 as a director and executive producer.
Across this incredible Prime Video show's two seasons, Brändström has helmed many of the most vital episodes. After directing two installments in Season 1, she stepped up in Season 2, taking the lead on five episodes, including the penultimate 'Doomed to Die' and the finale, 'Shadow and Flame.'
To this day, I still think about that epic shape-shifty fight between Galadriel and Sauron, Celebrimbor's death, Sauron crying, the reveal that The Stranger is Gandalf, Adar's death, King Durin's death and the battle that lasted for episodes. Brändström led the charge on all these moments and more, which not only brought Season 2 to an epic conclusion but set up Season 3 perfectly.
Knowing she'll be a force behind these new episodes after seeing her remarkable work on those last two installments specifically is thrilling.
Not to mention, on top of Rings of Power, Brändström has worked on shows like Shōgun and The Witcher, making her a force to be reckoned with in the world of action television.
However, her involvement isn't the only big news. Alongside Brändström, Sanaa Hamri and Stefan Schwartz will also be directing episodes in Season 3.
Notably, Hamri is no stranger to Middle-earth, as she directed Episodes 4, 5 and 6 last season. She's also well-versed in the fantasy realm having worked on The Wheel of Time. Meanwhile, Schwartz will make his Rings of Power debut this season. That's exhilarating because he has worked on some incredible shows before this, including The Boys, The Americans and The Walking Dead.
As someone who was truly, truly obsessed with Season 2 of Rings of Power specifically, this update makes me very happy. Every episode was so epic and packed with important stories, and with veteran directors and new talent leading Season 3, I think we're in for something special.
At the moment, Rings of Power Season 3 is in pre-production with plans to start filming in the spring. So, new episodes likely will not air on the 2025 TV schedule, but it seems likely they'll come in 2026. I have a feeling it will be worth the wait too, considering the fellowship leading the upcoming episodes has proven they are more than up for this adventure.

Among the 65 surveyed, 84% view YouTube as a viable platform for launching long-form content, and 30% are actively considering it for upcoming releases. In Q1 2025, more Americans watched YouTube on TV screens than on mobile devices—a first. Meeting audiences in the living room, media companies have begun uploading premium content directly to the platform. Earlier this year, Warner Bros. quietly released more than 30 full-length films on YouTube, free to watch. Yet as YouTube continues its rise, creators face critical decisions. Some, like Ms Rachel, have signed licensing deals with Netflix. MrBeast (aka Jimmy Donaldson), YouTube's most-subscribed creator, brought Beast Games to the small screen via Prime Video. Still, many fans would rather their favorite YouTubers stay where they started. More than half (54%) of respondents said YouTubers feel more authentic and better suited to the platform that launched their careers. Meanwhile, nearly three-quarters (74%) of executives noted that creator-led shows often underperform on platforms like Netflix and Prime, citing poor audience migration and an overreliance on follower counts. Kenya Moore Reacts to RHOA Reunion Disinvite: ‘Back on Bravo Soon'
It's official — Kenya Moore will not appear at the Season 16 Real Housewives of Atlanta reunion. Bravo just dropped the seating chart for the sitdown, which confirmed that Kenya was not on the premises. Oddly enough, her nemesis Brit Eady didn't show up either. While Bravo fans continue to make sense of what's going on with RHOA, Kenya chimed in on Twitter/X with a hopeful message about her Housewives status. She said she felt 'disappointed' to not be a part of the reunion while teasing a possible return to reality TV. The cast of The Real Housewives of Atlanta sat down with Andy Cohen to film the Season 16 reunion on Thursday, June 5. Weeks before the taping, Kenya said that she was 'disinvited' by the network. She also criticized Bravo for not having her back when Brit made the comments about having a weapon. While the cameras were rolling on the reunion, Kenya posted on social media. She sounded willing to make amends with the network, regardless of the salty feelings she had about the hair spa situation. 'I'm disappointed to not be a part of the #RHOA 16 reunion taping today,' Kenya began. 'Please know I take full accountability for my actions and deeply apologize to all those affected including Brittney, the cast, crew, guests and viewers. I look forward to seeing you all back on Bravo soon,' the RHOA star continued. Although Bravo gave Kenya the boot in the middle of Season 16, she has consistently said that she was still under contract with the network. Jonas Renske hopes Katatonia's new era includes more input from his bandmates

Revered Swedish prog metal gloom mongers Katatonia sent shockwaves through their fanbase in March when it was announced that founding guitarist Anders Nyström had left the band after 34 years and 12 albums. That hasn't stopped co-founding vocalist Jonas Renkse in his tracks, though, and he ushers in a new era of the band with 13th LP Nightmares As Extensions Of The Waking State. It features a new-look line-up with two new guitar players – Nico Elgstrand and Sebastian Svalland – and Renkse is now eyeing new heights. 'When I listen to the album, I hear a band that's still very hungry and wants to do new things and go to new places,' he says. 'There's a drive, a new energy and new ideas.' He'd previously said Nyström's departure was 'a decision not taken lightly,' but that it allowed 'everyone to thrive and move forward with their own creative preferences.' Things threatened to get ugly when the guitarist retaliated by saying:'Katatonia could and should have been mutually laid to rest,' believing Renkse and co should operate under a new name. He also criticised the band's recent setlists for ignoring their earlier material. Renkse confirms to Prog that he's mourning the end of their 'fruitful' partnership – but believes the band's legacy in in safe hands. 'Some relationships go on for a long time, and you maybe don't realise that you've grown apart,' he reflects. 'I'm happy we got to live this dream together. What we have created together cannot be taken away from us.' The new record itself, it sees Renske accompanied by bassist Niklas Sandin, drummer Daniel Moilanen, and the 'overwhelming' talents of Elgstrand (Entombed AD) and Svalland (Letters From The Colony). Elgstrand is no stranger to the band, having deputised for live shows in recent years, while Svalland was 'the guy that I had my eye on' when the search for a new member began. This album is a little bit more guitar-based … I was thinking more as a guitar player than anything else While 2023's Sky Void Of Stars found Katatonia sounding uncharacteristically upbeat, Nightmares returns to a darker sonic world. 'It's something I reacted to,' Renkse says. 'Perhaps subconsciously because of the last album, but when I got the masters back, I thought, 'Wow, this record is really dark!' 'I think, for some reason, this album is a little bit more guitar-based. I was picking up the guitar more often than keyboards, and I was thinking more as a guitar player than anything else.' Listeners can expect plenty of guitar solos too. Nightmares is the third consecutive Katatonia album Renkse has written on his own. He says the new record – which explores 'the nightmares we face in life' – is not very different from its predecessors; but he's afforded himself experimentation with Efter Solen, a fully electronic song sung in Swedish. 'I'm always writing, and it had a very nice vibe to it. I didn't really want to waste it by just keeping it on a hard drive,' he explains. 'I'm very happy to have it as an experiment; it's still very melancholic and dark; it just has a different kind of clothing.' He hopes future albums will see the band sharing the weight of songwriting duties. 'I always encourage it – but in the last 10 years, no one has really stepped up to the plate. Being the sole songwriter is sometimes very lonely; I would love the bouncing back and forth of ideas.'
