A challenging ACL 2 campaign awaits Mohun Bagan SG and FC Goa

Mohun Bagan Super Giant and FC Goa, the champion clubs of the country's top football tournaments, found their groups and opponents in the AFC Champions League Two first stage after the draw at football's continental body headquarters— AFC House — in Kuala Lumpur on Friday. Mohun Bagan, the League Shield and Cup winner of the Indian Super League (2024-25 season), has been drawn in Group C alongside Sepahan SC of Iran, Al Hussein SC of Jordan and Ahal FC of Turkmenistan. FC Goa, the Kalinga Super Cup 2025 winner, has been placed in Group D with Al Nassr Club of Saudi Arabia, which has former Ballon D'Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo in its ranks, as the top draw. The other two sides are Al Zawra SC of Iraq and FC Istiklol of Tajikistan. Goa qualified to the group stage after beating Al Seeb Club of Oman 2-1 in the preliminary stage play-off match at Fatorda on Wednesday. Mohun Bagan had directly qualified to the ACL 2 group stage by virtue of being the ISL topper. The initial league format has all teams in the group facing each other in a home and away, double-round robin format. The group stage will run from September 16 to December 24. The top two from each group will qualify for the Round of 16. Their reactions said it all 🤩🔥 — FC Goa (@FCGoaOfficial) August 15, 2025 The knock-out stage will be held between February 10 to 19, 2026. The quarterfinals and semifinals are scheduled between March 3 to 12 and April 7 to 15 while the final comes up on May 16, 2026. The Iranian club Sepahan, runner-up in the Persian Gulf Pro League 2024-25, will be Bagan's toughest opponent considering it came from Pot 1 in the draw which arranged the teams in four categories according to their rankings. The second team in the order is the Jordan Pro League champion Al Hussein SC while Bagan was placed in Pot 3. Ahal FC, the runner-up of Turkmenistan's top league Yokary Liga (2024) is the last name in the group. Aiden Markram to continue opening for South Africa to fit in more power-hitters

Aiden Markram (Getty Images) South Africa captain Aiden Markram confirmed he will continue opening in the T20I team to accommodate more middle-order batters. With the three-match series against Australia tied 1-1, the decider will be played in Cairns on Saturday. Markram enjoyed a strong IPL 2025 as an opener for Lucknow Super Giants, scoring five half-centuries in 13 innings at a strike rate of 148.82. However, he has not crossed fifty in T20Is since October 2022. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! "Going through our squads and the players that we've got around, we think probably that (opening) is the best fit. We've got some guys in the middle order that are a lot more destructive than I am, and we feel probably it's better off for me and Ricks ( Ryan Rickelton ) to be up top.' 'I did it a bit at the IPL and am starting to do it now again at international cricket. It's an exciting role. It's always nice to bat in the powerplay, and the focus is to get the team off to good starts," Markram told reporters on Friday. His opening stands with Rickelton in the series have been 12 and 34. While number three Lhuan-dre Pretorius is yet to find form, Dewald Brevis provided a boost with an unbeaten 125 in the second T20I. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like No annual fees for life UnionBank Credit Card Apply Now Undo Markram also provides an off-spin option and has occasionally taken the new ball, including dismissing Travis Head in the second match in Darwin. "It's very much a feel thing. It's quite a daunting task. You just see the ball flying nowadays, and I'm not so sure I really want to be a bowler. "But there'll be occasions where you feel like the wicket might be on the slower side or might offer something, and you sort of take that punt. The way I try to operate is just go on my gut feel, whatever my gut's telling me in the moment, run with that and back that and reflect on what could have been and what should have been possibly after the game," he said. With South Africa having won only one of their last nine bilateral T20I series, including losing the tri-series final to New Zealand, Markram is eager to turn the tide. "It feels like we are moving in the right direction. The series so far has been good. The bowlers have been pretty good for us. 'The previous game made our batters look good, but it was very much an individual performance (Brevis hit an unbeaten 125). So a nice challenge for our batters tomorrow to hopefully click and for them to put on a good score." Catch Rani Rampal's inspiring story on Game On, Episode 4. Watch Here!

Patrick Mahomes' sweetest win started in high school — thanks to his mom Randi and a Valentine's Day card

How Patrick Mahomes' mom Randi helped him spark his love story with Brittany (Image credits: IG/X) Before Patrick Mahomes became a two-time Super Bowl champion and one of the most recognizable faces in the NFL , he was just a Texas high schooler trying to win over a girl who saw him only as a friend. That changed one Valentine's Day when Mahomes, with a little nudge from his mother Randi, made a small gesture that would alter the course of his life. The high school Valentine's surprise that turned friendship into first love In 2012, Mahomes was a sophomore at Whitehouse High School, known for his athletic talent but not for bold romantic moves. Brittany Matthews, a year older, considered him a friend — until one February lunch in the school cafeteria. Mahomes appeared with a single rose and a folded card, a gesture that caught her completely off guard. 'He did this little, cute thing for Valentine's Day one day at lunch in high school,' Brittany later recalled. 'He brought me a rose and a card.' Randi Mahomes ' quiet hand in her son's first romantic 'play' That moment wasn't entirely Patrick's idea. 'My mom had given me a card to give to somebody,' he admitted. 'I was like, I'm gonna give it to Brittany, I'm gonna surprise her at lunch.' That decision, simple yet heartfelt, cracked the 'friend zone' open. From that day, their conversations grew longer, their bond stronger — the cafeteria gift marking the unofficial start of a relationship that would endure far more than teenage hallways. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 11 Harry Potter Actors Who Grew Up Stunningly. Through it all, they've carried the memory of that one simple act — a rose, a card, and a mother's gentle encouragement — that changed everything.
