Abi's uncovers more secrets in Corrie - that lead her straight to one man

Metro7 days ago
Abi Webster (Sally Carman) is currently in a dilemma in Coronation Street as she finds herself torn between her husband Kevin (Michael Le Vell) and his brother Carl (Jonathan Howard).
Abi and Carl were instantly attracted to each other when they met by chance when he first turned up in Weatherfield, but on finding out he was her brother-in-law, Abi has tried to resist the temptation of Carl. This hasn't stopped him trying, though.
Kevin recently got wind that something was either going on or was about to go on between his wife and brother, and in an attempt to make Abi stay with him he pretended that his cancer treatment wasn't working. In reality he'd been given the all-clear.
Although Carl found out about Kevin's lie, it was Tyrone (Alan Halsall) who ended up telling Abi as he wanted to stop her worrying Jack (Kyran Bowes) by telling him that Kevin was still ill.
Kevin admitted what he'd done and why, but Abi was disgusted by his actions and went straight to Carl, where the two finally gave in to their feelings for each other.
Kevin had some ammunition against Carl, though, as he knew that he was involved in a stolen car scam and threatened to go to the police if Carl didn't end things with Abi. Kevin also sacked Carl from the garage and Carl agreed to leave Weatherfield, only for Debbie (Sue Devaney) to persuade him to stay.
In upcoming episodes Abi finds herself covering for Kevin as he tells people he's been given the all-clear from his cancer. His friends are delighted, but Abi leaves the celebrations to spend time at the hotel with Carl.

While she's there she sees a message on Carl's phone from Fiona, the woman he's stealing cars for. Carl admits he's been doing dodgy MOT's for Fiona from Kevin's garage. More Trending
Abi's shocked to discover that Kevin was aware of what Carl was up to, and she confronts Carl about it. He replies that Kevin agreed not to report him on the condition that Carl kept quiet to Abi about Kevin lying about his cancer status.
Abi is furious when she realises that Kevin is still lying to her, and if he was hoping that his actions would keep his wife by his side he's very wrong. His lies send her back to Carl, and while Kevin heads to Dev and Bernie's wedding on his own, Abi is in Carl's hotel room.
Have Kevin's lies sealed the fate of his marriage?

Jamie Borthwick's EastEnders return 'confirmed' after three-month ban for slur

Jamie Borthwick's return to EastEnders is reportedly imminent, three months after he was suspended for using a disabled slur. The actor, 31, made headlines in June when he was found to have used the offensive remark backstage at Strictly Come Dancing's Blackpool special last November. Jamie was recorded on a mobile phone, leading to his ban from the BBC and bosses issuing a statement, calling his comments 'entirely unacceptable'. 'We have robust processes in place for this,' they added to Metro, declaring that what Jamie said 'in no way reflects the values or standards [they] hold and expect at the BBC.' The Jay Brown star apologised 'sincerely and wholeheartedly' shortly after the incident came to light, claiming he 'did not fully understand the derogatory term I used and its meaning'. Wake up to find news on your TV shows in your inbox every morning with Metro's TV Newsletter. 'Now I am aware, I am deeply embarrassed to have used the term and directed it in the way I did. It was wrong,' he added. 'When I made the video, I was excited and caught up in the moment. Again, that is no excuse. But my regrettable actions are not a true reflection of my views or who I am.' While Jamie has kept somewhat of a low profile in the weeks since his EastEnders ban was enforced, it's said he's now due back on set. According to The Sun, he will start filming again next month. Details of the circumstances surrounding Jamie's return to work have not been revealed, and the BBC declined to divulge anything further. However, a spokesperson did tell Metro: 'Whilst we do not comment on any individual matter, each case is always considered on its own facts. 'We are very clear on our expectations that inappropriate behaviour and language will not be tolerated.' It is not known what conversations have been had with Jamie ahead of going back to EastEnders, but campaigners are calling for him to receive additional disability awareness training. The charity Scope, which works to 'transform attitudes to disability, tackle injustice, and inspire action', has been particularly vocal, with Dr Shani Dhanda saying: 'What shocked me most about this story is the character Jamie plays in the show often appears alongside another character called Janet, who has Down syndrome. 'His character was even her stepdad at one point.' 'He didn't say the word directly to a disabled person, but even still, language is so important,' added the EastEnders fan. Meanwhile, Paul Galley, leader of Blackpool Council's Tories, has publicly invited Jamie to return to the town to 'meet members of [their] community and 'hear firsthand how his words caused hurt'. Adding that there is then an opportunity for him to 'apologise in person', the leader argued: 'The BBC lifting his suspension without any visible act of contrition beyond a statement sends a worrying message: celebrities can offend, apologise, and carry on without real consequence.' In the original footage of Jamie using the slur, he can be heard saying: 'Blackpool, by the way. Absolute m********s', as per The Sun, who obtained the recording. Backstage with Wynne Evans at the time, the Welsh opera singer then said: 'Oh my God.' Jamie, who joined EastEnders in 2006, has not spoken further about his use of the slur since his statement of apology was issued. But, he has made it clear he wishes to put things right, declaring: 'I accept the karma that has come my way due to some bad choices.' He is also 'attempting to write the wrongs in my life', having also felt remorse about how he 'handled the whole situation'. Jamie's Strictly stint descended into controversy shortly after the series ended, and Chris McCausland lifted the Glitter Ball trophy. In April, a video emerged of him and Wynne larking around with a sex toy backstage at the live tour in Birmingham, which saw them chastised by bosses. This happened before GoCompare frontman Wynne was removed from the tour for inappropriate behaviour, for which he apologised. More Trending Also that month, it was claimed that Jamie cheated on his girlfriend while Strictly was underway. Jamie, whose pro partner was Michelle Tsiakkas, had been dumped by Chloe Strand shortly after news of his sex toy scandal broke. Those close to his ex later claimed he was unfaithful to her both during Strictly filming and while on the road for the tour. View More » Jamie did not publicly speak on the allegations. Woman discovers she is one of three wives before husband arrested

Tonya Betsey met Henry Betsey, Jr on Tinder, and the two were married in 2020. A woman turned sleuth and uncovered a devastating dual deception about her spouse - which eventually resulted in his detention. ‌ Tonya Betsey encountered Henry Betsey, Jr through Tinder, and the pair wed at the Duval County Courthouse in Jacksonville, US, on November 24, 2020. ‌ "Meeting on a dating site and the way he portrayed himself, he sold the perfect person, when in reality he was none of those things," she cautioned. ‌ Regrettably, it wasn't long before Tonya realised she wasn't the sole woman in Henry's existence. His betrayals emerged when she began investigating her husband's name through county court records, making the startling revelation that he possessed marriage certificates to two additional women. Henry had wed his second spouse Brandy two years following his ceremony with Tonya, in February 2022. Just months afterwards, a third woman, Michele, encountered Henry on the dating platform and they exchanged vows at a courthouse in Hernando County in November 2022, having known each other for merely three weeks, reports the Mirror. "I just started county by county, putting in his name. And that's when I came up with the marriage to Michele and the marriage to Brandy," Tonya revealed to WFTS. ‌ Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Betsey Jr. hadn't obtained divorces or annulments before remarrying, and no database exists that cross-references Florida marriage licences between counties. The spouses collectively hold Florida accountable for failing to cross-check marriage certificates across different counties. ‌ Michele stated: "There are no safeguards, and I feel like that's part of where the system failed,". Tonya further remarked: "If the counties did talk, it would have saved me a lot of heartache, a lot of money, a lot of stress,". Betsey Jr. entered a guilty plea to the felony bigamy charge in May. During this week's sentencing proceedings, he expressed remorse for simultaneously wedding three women. ‌ "First and foremost, I want to apologise to the ladies and I want to apologise to the court administration and to my family and friends that had to be involved in this. Because ultimately this is something that I didn't wish to be part of," he said. Given Henry's clean criminal record - and with a separate Virginia case still pending - the judge outlined the legal constraints on the punishment he could deliver. Judge Charles B. Merritt, Jr. declared: "I'm going to adjudicate him guilty of the bigamy offense, which is gonna make him a convicted felon," and "I'm gonna sentence him to two years' probation with 8 days credit for time served. You're gonna have to do a mental health evaluation, complete a certified battery intervention program." ‌ Betsey's ex-wives and their relatives expressed disappointment that Henry avoided prison time - though they welcomed the chance to move on from the traumatic experience. "While I respect the court's decision and understand the reasoning behind the sentence, I can't say I was completely satisfied with the outcome. I had hoped for a stronger sentence," Tonya expressed in a statement. "That said, I recognise that the judge weighed all the factors involved, and I accept the decision, even if it wasn't what I had expected. "While it was not jail time, the fact that he is a convicted felon, that speaks mountains and I feel like that's vindication on our part," Michele added.

What she could do with is the unconditional support of her husband, but Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) is hiding a huge secret that he could have helped save Butlers. Perhaps it's because Cain has thrown himself into the surrogacy saga to block out the pain of losing Nate (Jurell Carter), but all it's done is make him forget his own immediate family. Things have not gone smoothly with the surrogacy – with Charity (Emma Atkins) trying to get pregnant with granddaughter Sarah's (Katie Hill) baby. Charity's husband Mack (Lawrence Robb) has only just got on board, but a fall in the woods after the implantation of the embryo saw the dream begin to slip through everyone's fingers when Charity found she was bleeding afterwards. Now they need another embryo transfer to try again, but the cost is astronomical. But who should come through for Sarah with a secret stash of cash? Cain, of course. He has a chunk of money that Moira isn't aware of and wants Sarah to have it for her next attempt. So, while Moira has been battling to keep a roof over her family's head, Cain has been sitting on the pot of cash that could have saved them. With all the lies he's told Moira in recent years, this will not go down well. More Trending Well, however morally wrong, Cain's financial injection into the baby making project does the trick – Charity is confirmed pregnant with Sarah's baby.
