Material Recovery Facility

advisory committee, member Imtiyaz Ali, noted that while scrap dealers in rural areas focus on high-value materials, "smaller plastic and related waste which is increasingly being consumed in rural areas, does not get recycled." The MRF seeks to bridge this gap and will be a first of its kind in rural areas, he added.
District Panchayat Bhopal organised an orientation programme for over 70 scrap dealers from Phanda and Berasia. The programme informed participants about govt schemes and fair rates for waste collected. Dealers also raised concerns, which District Panchayat CEO Ila Tiwari pledged to address.
District Coordinator, SBM (G), Santosh Jharia, provided information on waste collection procedures. Experts also shared details about Solid Waste Management Rules 2016 and the Swachh Udyami Yojana. The MRF is a collaborative effort between the District Panchayat and Sarthak Community Development and Jankalyaan Sanstha.

Petrol pump toilets should be open to the public: Kerala HC modifies earlier order
Kochi: High court on Wednesday modified its earlier order restricting public access to toilets/washrooms on petrol pump premises, clarifying that all such facilities in petroleum retail outlets along national highways must remain open to the public round the clock, with a display board indicating their availability. For petrol bunks in other areas, HC directed that toilets must be kept accessible to all customers and transit travellers in the state. It further held that oil marketing companies and retail outlet dealers shall permit any person wishing to use the washrooms on their premises and may restrict access only when a safety protocol requires it. Justice C S Dias issued the order in a petition filed by the Petroleum Traders Welfare and Legal Service Society, a registered association of petroleum retail outlet dealers, and four of its members. They had challenged the actions of the Thiruvananthapuram corporation and Thodupuzha municipality, which had converted private toilets on their premises into public toilets under the revised guidelines of the Swachh Bharat Mission – Urban. In its earlier order of June 17, HC had directed the state govt and local self-govts not to compel petroleum retail outlet owners to provide public access to toilets on their premises, citing the petitioners' safety concerns. However, the interim order sparked debate over its potential adverse impact on travellers, pregnant women, caregivers with children and daily commuters, many of whom may not be 'customers' in the conventional sense. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Ranked: The 25 Best Cities To Live In The World Learn More Undo Several individuals and organisations sought to be impleaded in the case, urging HC to consider the matter in the broader context of public interest, including gender and human rights dimensions. On Wednesday, the Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOC) filed a counter affidavit stating that, as per its amended marketing discipline guidelines of 2024, toilets in petrol bunks must be accessible to all customers and transit travellers at all times, subject to applicable safety protocols. However, it maintained that providing washrooms to those who are neither employees nor customers would be at the discretion of the retail outlet dealer or manager, taking into account safety concerns. Taking into account a 2013 circular issued by Union ministry of road transport and highways mandating public access to toilets on petrol pump premises along national highways, as well as IOC's counter affidavit, HC modified its previous order. Meanwhile, the deputy solicitor general, appearing for the ministry of petroleum and natural gas, and counsel for Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd and Hindustan Petroleum Ltd sought more time to file their counter-affidavits. HC adjourned the matter to Sept 24. The court also restrained the Thiruvananthapuram corporation and Thodupuzha municipality from installing any boards in front of the petitioners' outlets, stating that they have public toilets. MRF logs lower net on higher revenue in Q1
Chennai, Aug 12 (UNI) Automotive tyre major MRF Ltd on Tuesday said it closed the quarter ended 30th June 2025 with a higher revenue and lower net. The company said during the first quarter of FY26 it has logged a standalone operational revenue of Rs.7,560.28 crore (Q1FY25 Rs.7,077.84 crore) and a net profit of Rs.484.23 crore (Rs.562.55 crore). On a consolidated basis, for the period under review, the company's total income stood at Rs 7,802 crore (Rs. 7,280 crore). The consolidated net profit for the quarter ended 30th June, 2025 is Rs. 500 crore (Rs.571 crore). Despite the increase in total income, profits for the quarter ended 30th June, 2025, declined due to an increase in input costs, MRF said in a statement. According to the company, the first quarter of the financial year normally sees an uptick in demand for vehicles, and therefore sales to vehicle makers improve along with improvement in replacement demand. But April 2025 started with a tariff issue, which was followed by a war in May and then early monsoons. This led to subdued market sentiments. New vehicle sales across categories were negative or flat except for the farm segment, which was unaffected by any of the above disruptions. UNI VJ ARN
