Ukrainska Pravda celebrates its 25th anniversary on 16 April. Do you remember how it all began?
Back in 2000, Georgiy Gongadze and Olena Prytula founded Ukrainska Pravda as a response to the censorship that dominated the post-Soviet media landscape in Ukraine.
It was the dawn of the internet. In those early days, our website saw just 150–200 visitors a day. But Ukrainians were hungry for the truth – and we began to grow.
On the first day of the full-scale war, 7.4 million people visited the Ukrainska Pravda website. Today, nearly a million readers visit us every day!
Over the past 25 years, governments have changed, and dictators have come and gone – but our mission has stayed the same: to fight for freedom of speech. We've grown into a major media outlet with a large editorial team, dozens of projects across various platforms, and millions of readers.
The Orange Revolution, the Revolution of Dignity, the Russo-Ukrainian war, the full-scale invasion – we've been with you through the defining moments of Ukraine's modern history.
For 25 years, we've stood for the truth and upheld the same core values: honesty, independence, critical thinking, democracy, and service to society and our readers.
Our journalists report from our Kyiv newsroom, from frontline villages, and from temporarily occupied cities. Many of our colleagues have paused their journalism careers to join the army and defend Ukraine.

Serbia's president heads to Ukraine for unannounced visit
Serbia's President Aleksandar Vučić is heading to Ukraine on Wednesday 11 June for a one-day visit. Source: press service for the Serbian president, as reported by European Pravda Details: This marks Vučić's first visit to Ukraine. The Serbian president is set to take part in the Ukraine-Southeast Europe Summit. Unlike previous official trips, Vučić's visit was not announced in advance and the Serbian public only became aware of it after his departure. It is worth noting that Vučić, together with Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, were the only European leaders to attend Russian leader Vladimir Putin's Victory Day celebrations in Moscow on 9 May. [Victory Day is a Russian holiday commemorating the Soviet victory over Nazi Germany in 1945, celebrated on 9 May – ed.] Vučić had previously insisted that Serbia's European path would not be jeopardised by his visit to Moscow. Russian attacks kill 3 as drones hit Kharkiv and other parts of Ukraine
KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — Russian forces launched a fresh drone assault across Ukraine overnight Wednesday, killing three people and wounding 60 more, Ukrainian officials said. One of the hardest-hit areas was the city of Kharkiv in northeastern Ukraine, where 17 attack drones struck two residential districts, said Mayor Ihor Terekhov. Emergency crews, municipal workers and volunteers worked through the night to extinguish fires, rescue residents from burning homes, and restore gas, electricity and water services. 'Those are ordinary sites of peaceful life — those that should never be targeted,' Terekhov wrote on Telegram. Three people were confirmed killed and at least 60 injured, including nine children aged between 2 and 15, according to Kharkiv regional head Oleh Syniehubov. Kharkiv has been repeatedly targeted frequently in recent months as Russia had launched repeated large-scale drone and missile attacks on civilian infrastructure. Moscow's forces have deployed high numbers of drones and missiles in recent days, with a record bombardment of almost 500 drones on Monday and a wave of 315 drones and seven missiles overnight on Tuesday. The attacks come despite discussions of a potential ceasefire. The two sides traded memoranda at direct peace talks in Istanbul on June 2 that set out conditions. However, the inclusion of clauses that both sides see as nonstarters make any quick deal unlikely. Wednesday's strikes also caused widespread destruction in the Slobidskyi and Osnovianskyi districts, hitting apartment buildings, private homes, playgrounds, industrial sites and public transport. Images from the scene published by Ukraine's Emergency Service on Telegram showed burning apartments, shattered windows and firefighters battling the blaze. 'We stand strong. We help one another. And we will endure,' Terekhov said. 'Kharkiv is Ukraine. And it cannot be broken.' Ukraine's airforce said that 85 attack and decoy drones were fired over the country over night. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, Vice President JD Vance, Homeland Security boss Kristi Noem, Attorney General Pam Bondi and deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller were there to discuss pressing matters of state, but the president also made sure to put everyone at ease with a perfectly timed joke and effusive praise for his A team. Gavin Newsom, was bullish instinct. We covered everything from Elon to Iran, drones over New Jersey to the secret of Joe Biden's autopen (he knows how to spot the fake signatures). As his Treasury and Commerce Secretaries Scott Bessent ('straight out of Central Casting') and Howard Lutnick ('a killer') wrestled with the Chinese on trade over a conference table in London, he divulged that President Xi's team is 'a little spoiled from having such great success against our negotiators' in the past. No such luck this time. The inaugural 'Pod Force One' interview took place in the White House library.
