Former Arsenal goalkeeper David Seaman is refusing to give up hope on the Gunners' chance this season but accepts that getting a striker would be the "final piece of the jigsaw"."We always needed a striker. We tried in the transfer window and now hopefully there is one lined up in the summer, but that will be a bit too late," Seaman told BBC Radio 5 Live Breakfast."We have been playing this type of football for a long time and [getting a striker] will be the final piece of the jigsaw. That will hopefully be what makes it [winning the Premier League title] happen next season."I am privileged that I go into Arsenal once a week and I see the players training. The way Mikel works, he is getting the best out of his players. The whole training ground is all together."I would definitely not go down that route [of changing manager] because we are getting better and better. We are now serious contenders for the league, we have a good chance in the Champions League and it is a progression. "The next step to that is getting a striker."Arsenal fan and YouTuber Charlene Smith believes the club's owners need to take responsibility for the title challenge fading."I feel like injuries are out of our control, but I do feel like we needed to do business in the January transfer window," she said. "We have needed a striker for so long and we have released a lot of players but have not replaced those we let go."They need to take ownership of that and accept we should have got more players in. If we had, the season could have been looking a lot different."

Arsenal are hopeful of signing Valencia defender Cristhian Mosquera with a deal being discussed to bring him to the Emirates. In addition to Guehi, Arsenal were also keen on Dean Huijsen following his thrilling campaign at Bournemouth, only for him to choose a move to Real Madrid. The Gunners want Mosquera to come in and provide cover and competition for first-choice centre-half partnership William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes. Magalhaes picked up a season-ending hamstring injury in April with Jakub Kiwior replacing him for the season run-in. The Poland international has since been strongly linked with a return to Serie A to join AC Milan. Jurrien Timber and Ben White, predominantly used on the right, can also play at centre-half along with Riccardo Calafiori, who joined the club from Bologna for £42million last summer. Ian Wright excluded from ITV's Women's Euros coverage as Eni Aluko gets return
Ian Wright is a surprise omission from ITV's punditry line-up for Euro 2025 in Switzerland, but Eni Aluko will feature on the channel's coverage of the tournament Eni Aluko will be a pundit for ITV during the Women's European Championship. Ian Wright, however, will be absent from the channel's coverage of the tournament. The former players-turned-pundits clashed earlier this year when Aluko appeared to suggest that Wright had "blocked" opportunities for women in the media. Aluko told BBC Radio Four's Woman's Hour that the former Arsenal striker, who has regularly championed the women's game, needed to be aware of the 'finite opportunities for women.' When asked about Wright's work on women's football, she said: "I think we need to be conscious, and we need to make sure that women are not being blocked from having a pathway into broadcasting in the women's game. "It's still new, it's still growing. There's a finite amount of opportunities and I think that men need to be aware of that." Her comments were heavily criticised, leading to her issuing an apology to Wright via her Instagram story. Wright responded by saying he was left 'very disappointed' by Aluko and that he 'can't accept' her apology. He said on Instagram: 'I've got to say I'm very disappointed by what Eni has said. She knows how I've helped her, supported her publicly. 'And I know the previous conversations she's had with me and my management. So, for me, I've seen your apology on social media, but I can't accept it. But I also want to move on from it.' ITV backed Wright at the time, calling the 61-year-old 'an incredible advocate and ally, and a brilliant broadcaster of women's football.' However, he will not be part of ITV's coverage as England looks to defend the continental crown they won three years ago. That will be a surprise to some, given that Wright was used during England's qualifying campaign and during the Lionesses ' run to the 2023 World Cup final. His absence is not believed to be related to his spat with Aluko, who will return to ITV duty after not being part of the channel's coverage of England's 5-0 win over Portugal in May. In her apology to Wright, Aluko called him a 'brilliant broadcaster and role model whose support for the women's game has been significant.' She added: 'In my interview with Woman's Hour this week, I was trying to make a broader point about the limited opportunities for women in football – whether that's in coaching, broadcasting or commercial spaces – and the importance of creating more space for women to thrive on and off the pitch. 'But it was wrong for Ian's name to be raised in that conversation, and for that I sincerely apologise. I've known and worked with Ian for many years and have nothing but love and respect for him.' Wrexham to face Southampton in their first second-tier game for 43 years
June 26 (Reuters) - Wrexham's quest to reach the Premier League next year will begin with an away trip to Southampton on August 9 after the English Football League fixtures were released on Thursday. The North Wales club, co-owned by Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds and fellow Hollywood A-lister American Rob McElhenney, will play their first English second-tier game for 43 years. Reynolds said it had felt like an "impossible dream" to get the club to the Premier League, but after three successive promotions they are now just one league away. Wrexham's popularity has sky-rocketed on both sides of the Atlantic due to the North American owners and the smash hit "Welcome to Wrexham" documentary. Their first home match will be against West Bromwich Albion.
