MLB Insider Bill Shakin Unveils Dodgers Trade Deadline Plans originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Los Angeles Dodgers have the arsenal to become the most active at the trade deadline. With Michael Conforto struggling in the outfield, Los Angeles could have their eyes on adding another outfielder. The plethora of injuries to their starting rotation may make the Dodgers lean towards going all-in on the top arms on the market. Even upgrading to third base or second base is an option for the team.

As the team deliberates which approach to take, their deadline plans are becoming clearer by the day, according to Bill Shakin of the Los Angeles Times.
When I talked to [Dodgers president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman] about this last week, I think the first thing a lot of fans think of is left field because the Dodgers are above average in every position offensively except left field,' Shakin said on the latest episode of Dodgers Territory. 'At least my sense from Andrew Friedman is they're not really interested in making a move in left field.'
Shakin continued by pointing towards the pitching staff as an area the Dodgers are honing in on improving.

'When Andrew said in the offseason, we want to get enough pitching depth so we don't have to go out in the market in July, they don't know about that … I would think [the] pitching area for sure is where they're focused.'

Although the Dodgers are expecting Tyler Glasnow and Blake Snell back before the trade deadline, the pitching rotation currently ranks 23rd in the league, according to FanGraphs. Adding further stability to the rotation or even acquiring another late-inning reliever to pair with closer Tanner Scott are both viable options for Los Angeles at the deadline.
According to ESPN's Jeff Passan and Kiley McDaniel, the Dodgers are suitors for Miami Marlins ace Sandy Alcantara, Kansas City Royals veteran Seth Lugo, and Cleveland Guardians closer Emmanuel Clase, along with six other pitchers potentially available this summer.

Deion Sanders Makes Feelings Clear About Michael Irvin's Home Visit Amid Health Issues

Deion Sanders Makes Feelings Clear About Michael Irvin's Home Visit Amid Health Issues originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Colorado Buffaloes head coach and Pro Football Hall of Fame cornerback Deion Sanders' health issues have forced him to step away from Boulder. Advertisement The 57-year-old said he's doing okay on Wednesday and will send out a health update once he returns to the team. On May 30, he appeared on former NFL defensive back Asante Samuel's Say What Needs To Be Said' podcast and claimed 'what I'm dealing with is on a whole nother level' after losing 14 pounds. Even though it is currently unclear what he is dealing with, the health issues Sanders previously battled include blood clots in his legs, the amputation of two toes and the removal of the sides of his left calf, according to a USA Today report. As the former Dallas Cowboys player is recovering at his estate in Texas, fellow NFL legend Michael Irvin paid him a visit on Wednesday to hopefully raise his spirits. 'My bishop always said when your loved ones are dealing with any difficult issues, you must find ways to make them laugh and change their frequency,' the 59-year-old posted on X. 'I love you to life and forever, my brother @DeionSanders 🙏🏾🙏🏾❤️❤️.' Advertisement Sanders appreciated the kind words and showed his support for Irvin on Thursday. 'Thank you for coming to see me yesterday and boosting my spirits,' he wrote in a recent Instagram post. 'Y'all know Mike a fool 😂😂.' As his recovery continues, Sanders could return to the Buffaloes' sidelines in the coming weeks so he can mentor and lead one of the country's most notable teams. When the spring transfer portal opened on April 17, he recruited former Campbell Camels wide receiver Sincere Brown and Memphis Tigers offensive lineman Xavier Hill. However, Sanders isn't stopping there he plans to target every aspect of the team such as players, coaching staff and personnel, according to Sports Illustrated. He said the special teams unit looks solid but wants to improve every other area, including the quarterback, which will be given to Kaidon Salter or Julian Lewis. Downing-Imagn Images Although there is no word on who is winning the quarterback battle between Salter and Lewis, one of them is expected to start under center in Colorado's first game of the regular season against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on Aug. 29.
