The 57-year-old said he's doing okay on Wednesday and will send out a health update once he returns to the team. On May 30, he appeared on former NFL defensive back Asante Samuel's Say What Needs To Be Said' podcast and claimed 'what I'm dealing with is on a whole nother level' after losing 14 pounds.
Even though it is currently unclear what he is dealing with, the health issues Sanders previously battled include blood clots in his legs, the amputation of two toes and the removal of the sides of his left calf, according to a USA Today report.
As the former Dallas Cowboys player is recovering at his estate in Texas, fellow NFL legend Michael Irvin paid him a visit on Wednesday to hopefully raise his spirits.
'My bishop always said when your loved ones are dealing with any difficult issues, you must find ways to make them laugh and change their frequency,' the 59-year-old posted on X. 'I love you to life and forever, my brother @DeionSanders 🙏🏾🙏🏾❤️❤️.'

Sanders appreciated the kind words and showed his support for Irvin on Thursday.
'Thank you for coming to see me yesterday and boosting my spirits,' he wrote in a recent Instagram post. 'Y'all know Mike a fool 😂😂.'
As his recovery continues, Sanders could return to the Buffaloes' sidelines in the coming weeks so he can mentor and lead one of the country's most notable teams. When the spring transfer portal opened on April 17, he recruited former Campbell Camels wide receiver Sincere Brown and Memphis Tigers offensive lineman Xavier Hill.
However, Sanders isn't stopping there he plans to target every aspect of the team such as players, coaching staff and personnel, according to Sports Illustrated. He said the special teams unit looks solid but wants to improve every other area, including the quarterback, which will be given to Kaidon Salter or Julian Lewis.

Although there is no word on who is winning the quarterback battle between Salter and Lewis, one of them is expected to start under center in Colorado's first game of the regular season against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on Aug. 29.

Ace Bailey Avoids 76ers Question Before NBA Draft

Ace Bailey Avoids 76ers Question Before NBA Draft originally appeared on Athlon Sports. A new wave of elite basketball talent is about to find its NBA homes as the 2025 NBA Draft tips off Wednesday night. One of the more intriguing names entering the draft is Ace Bailey, whose pre-draft decisions have sparked debate across the league. Advertisement Bailey notably did not work out with the Philadelphia 76ers, who currently hold the third overall pick. Despite skipping that workout, many analysts still project him to land in Philadelphia. Others believe the 76ers may instead opt for V.J. Edgecombe, who did meet with the team. In a recent pre-draft interview, Adam Zagoria, shared when Bailey was asked directly about the 76ers situation. His response was vague. 'I'm just glad to be in this position. I'm taking it day by day...I'm focused on basketball.' According to CBS Sports, 76ers star Paul George wasn't thrilled with Bailey's approach. On his "Podcast P," George criticized the young prospect for skipping team workouts entirely. Advertisement 'I mean, I think if I'm Ace Bailey, I can't get mad if my stock drops,' George said. 'He's canceled all workouts. He hasn't worked out for any team. I think they made a big deal because we were scheduled to work him out, and he canceled the day of. But you're not in a position to be making those demands. Make it to the league first. It's for sure the people around him. I don't know who's representing him, but I don't think they're going about it the right way.' Rutgers Scarlet Knights guard Ace Bailey (4) Mandatory Credit: Robert Goddin-Imagn Images Bailey, a 6-foot-10 guard/forward from Rutgers, spent one season with the Scarlet Knights. He averaged 17.6 points and 7.2 rebounds over 30 games. Despite a roster that also included fellow top prospect Dylan Harper, Rutgers missed the NCAA Tournament. Before college, Bailey won Mr. Georgia Basketball in 2024 and played in elite showcases like the McDonald's All-American Game, Nike Hoop Summit and the Jordan Brand Classic. Advertisement Most projections have Cooper Flagg and Dylan Harper as the likely top two picks. After that, things get less predictable. Edgecombe remains a strong candidate for the 76ers, and Duke's Kon Knueppel also surged up draft boards in recent weeks. The speculation around Bailey will finally end Wednesday night when his NBA future is officially decided. Beloved NFL Super Bowl Champion Dead At 83

Beloved NFL Super Bowl Champion Dead At 83 originally appeared on The Spun. The football world is in mourning today as one of the best pass rushers of the AFL-NFL rivalry years and a beloved Super Bowl champion has passed away. Advertisement On Wednesday, numerous outlets reported that former New York Jets and Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Gerry Philbin passed away. He was 83 years old. Philbin was a star pass rusher for the New York Jets in the 1960s, racking up 66.5 sacks over 10 seasons in the AFL and later the NFL following the AFL-NFL merger. 65 of those sacks came with the Jets, though 48.5 of them came between 1966 and 1969. His sacks mark still ranks fourth in franchise history. In 1968, Philbin enjoyed a career-high 14.0 sacks and became a defensive anchor for the Jets as they went on to win Super Bowl III in the biggest upset in NFL history. He would finish his NFL career with the Philadelphia Eagles in 1973 and play his final season of pro football with the New York Stars in the short-lived WFL in 1974. Philbin was voted to the American Football League All-Time Team in 1970 after the league merged with the NFL. And while Canton never came calling, Philbin was inducted into the Jets' Ring of Honor in 2011. In an interview with the Jets in 2018, Philbin reflected on the impact of the Jets' Super Bowl win. He felt that it was an extremely vindicating moment for his career and the careers of his AFL friends. Advertisement "The impact of the win," Philbin said. "The impact was so great that finally, the AFL was on par with the NFL. It really meant so much to the players around the league in the AFL because we were really second-class citizens up until the time the Jets won in the Super Bowl. Because prior to that there were two Super Bowls where the Kansas City Chiefs and Oakland Raiders got beat pretty good by the NFL (Green Bay Packers). "So, it really was the impact of the game more or less for the players in the AFL and the fans around the country in the AFL cities. That's what my biggest thrill was. That and to go home and be No. 1 in New York is another good reason." He then went into real estate, moved to New Hampshire for a time and then moved to Florida to be close to his family. Advertisement "I've been retired for the last 15, 20 years. I had a business on Long Island for many years, a sand and gravel business," he said. "And then I sold that and my home and moved to Florida and became a real estate agent. I was in the real estate business for a while and then moved to New Hampshire. But my kids were living in Florida at the time, so I moved back and have since stayed, and I'm here now." Our hearts go out to Philbin's family and loved ones. Arvelo, director of the National Intellectual Property Rights Coordination Center, said in a news release. Philadelphia Eagles counterfeit merchandise at an anti-counterfeiting press conference at the Phoenix Convention Center. 'That's why our partnership with sports leagues, such as the NFL, is critical in our efforts to raise awareness about the dangers of counterfeit merchandise and help consumers make informed purchasing decisions.' Look out for poor quality, sloppy stitching, missing security labels or irregular markings on apparel. Check your online bank statements. Keep a record of purchases and copies of confirmation pages and compare them to bank statements. If there is a discrepancy, consumers should report it immediately.
