Colorado Buffaloes head coach and Pro Football Hall of Fame cornerback Deion Sanders' health issues have forced him to step away from Boulder.

The 57-year-old said he's doing okay on Wednesday and will send out a health update once he returns to the team. On May 30, he appeared on former NFL defensive back Asante Samuel's Say What Needs To Be Said' podcast and claimed 'what I'm dealing with is on a whole nother level' after losing 14 pounds.
Even though it is currently unclear what he is dealing with, the health issues Sanders previously battled include blood clots in his legs, the amputation of two toes and the removal of the sides of his left calf, according to a USA Today report.
As the former Dallas Cowboys player is recovering at his estate in Texas, fellow NFL legend Michael Irvin paid him a visit on Wednesday to hopefully raise his spirits.
'My bishop always said when your loved ones are dealing with any difficult issues, you must find ways to make them laugh and change their frequency,' the 59-year-old posted on X. 'I love you to life and forever, my brother @DeionSanders 🙏🏾🙏🏾❤️❤️.'

Sanders appreciated the kind words and showed his support for Irvin on Thursday.
'Thank you for coming to see me yesterday and boosting my spirits,' he wrote in a recent Instagram post. 'Y'all know Mike a fool 😂😂.'
As his recovery continues, Sanders could return to the Buffaloes' sidelines in the coming weeks so he can mentor and lead one of the country's most notable teams. When the spring transfer portal opened on April 17, he recruited former Campbell Camels wide receiver Sincere Brown and Memphis Tigers offensive lineman Xavier Hill.
However, Sanders isn't stopping there he plans to target every aspect of the team such as players, coaching staff and personnel, according to Sports Illustrated. He said the special teams unit looks solid but wants to improve every other area, including the quarterback, which will be given to Kaidon Salter or Julian Lewis.

Although there is no word on who is winning the quarterback battle between Salter and Lewis, one of them is expected to start under center in Colorado's first game of the regular season against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on Aug. 29.

Advertisement On Wednesday, numerous outlets reported that former New York Jets and Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Gerry Philbin passed away. He was 83 years old. Philbin was a star pass rusher for the New York Jets in the 1960s, racking up 66.5 sacks over 10 seasons in the AFL and later the NFL following the AFL-NFL merger. 65 of those sacks came with the Jets, though 48.5 of them came between 1966 and 1969. His sacks mark still ranks fourth in franchise history. In 1968, Philbin enjoyed a career-high 14.0 sacks and became a defensive anchor for the Jets as they went on to win Super Bowl III in the biggest upset in NFL history. He would finish his NFL career with the Philadelphia Eagles in 1973 and play his final season of pro football with the New York Stars in the short-lived WFL in 1974. Philbin was voted to the American Football League All-Time Team in 1970 after the league merged with the NFL. And while Canton never came calling, Philbin was inducted into the Jets' Ring of Honor in 2011. In an interview with the Jets in 2018, Philbin reflected on the impact of the Jets' Super Bowl win. Fake NFL merch scams are surging. Here's how to avoid getting duped
NFL fans, beware. Counterfeit scams on NFL merchandise are becoming more common, according to a study from The study analyzed 550,000 online conversations in the past year for all 32 NFL teams, monitoring "heated debates" about fake knock-off products. 'With the rise of e-commerce, it has become incredibly easy for criminals to create fake websites, online marketplaces, and social media ads offering deceptive deals with the sole intention of scamming sports fans,' Ivan J. Arvelo, director of the National Intellectual Property Rights Coordination Center, said in a news release. Philadelphia Eagles fans – with 41,660 online conversations about fake merchandise online – rank among the top fanbases that get scammed, the study said. Eagles fans also suffer the highest rate of negative sentiment in those online conversations, with 38% of them expressing frustration or disappointment. Other teams with significant chatter include the Kansas City Chiefs (28,442 conversations, 15% negative), Dallas Cowboys (24,828 conversations, 18% negative), and Pittsburgh Steelers (22,844 conversations, 16% negative).
