Owen Beck sees transfer triggered by two key Liverpool decisions as Rangers receive final answer

The Light Blues were linked to the former Dundee loanee - but his long and short-term future won't be in Govan
Owen Beck was one of the names to feature on Rangers' summer revolution wishlist.

And Liverpool have now signed off on TWO key decisions over the fate of the left-back.

Arne Slot has shown the faith he has in the 22-year-old left-back by handing him a new long-term deal at the English Premier League champions before sanctioning a temporary move away for the season ahead.

But that won't be at Ibrox, with the defender moving to Derby County to reunite with former boss John Eustace for the campaign ahead after playing under him during a stint at Blackburn Rovers.
We told previously how Beck was wanted back north of the border after a successful loan stint at Dundee previously - but that move hinged on one condition.
Ridvan Yilmaz was that key factor and he remains on the books as things stand under Russell Martin.
He has been linked constantly with a return to his homeland - but as yet, nothing has materialised on that front for a player who has struggled largly with injuries in Glasgow.
Celtic also previously targeted the defender but his future in the short and long-term has now been determined as he admitted a stint at Derby is a 'no-brainer'

He explained: "Obviously, I know the gaffer well from last year.
"I spoke to him with that experience of working with him before in mind. It moved pretty fast and was a no-brainer for me.
We built a really good connection. I feel like he got the best out of me.

"When he called up and we had that conversation again where he was looking to bring me in, it was a no-brainer, really!
"I enjoyed playing under him. As I said, I feel like he got the best out of me. I feel like he can get even more out of me this season, and I can push that step further."
On his targets for the season ahead, he added: "First and foremost, I want to play games. I want to play and stay injury-free.
"In the game, I'm going to set myself personal goals. Also, I'm sure the gaffer will have goals that he wants the team to achieve.
"Hopefully, I can hit my personal goals and help the team achieve theirs too."

Rangers will look to pick up their first three points of the new season when they welcome Dundee to Ibrox in the Scottish Premiership this Saturday (kick-off: 5.45pm). A disappointing opening day performance at Motherwell saw Russell Martin's side escape with a 1-1 draw at Fir Park last week. James Tavernier's had given the Gers the perfect start with his early opener, but it was cancelled out by Emmanuel Longelo's angled drive in the dying embers of the game to leave supporters frustrated. A convincing 3-0 victory over Viktoria Plzen in the Champions League qualifiers in midweek will give the Gers renewed optimism though, as they return to domestic action. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Their weekend visitors, Dundee, have endured a tough start to the campaign. Head coach Steven Pressley saw his side fall to a 2-1 defeat Hibs on opening day last weekend, just weeks after they were dumped out of the Premier Sports Cup after defeats to both Alloa Athletic and Airdrieonians in the group stage of the competition sealed their shock early exit. The Dark Blues could be without talisman and captain Simon Murray in Govan due to a knee injury, while Charlie Reilly (broken shoulder) and Cesar Garza (head) are ruled out. Rangers could hand a debut to Mikey Moore following his loan arrival from Tottenham Hotspur last week, though Thelo Aasgaard and Hamza Igamane are expected to be ruled out again. Ahead of the game, we look at who the Scottish FA have confirmed as the match officials for Saturday's game: Referee Don Robertson will take charge of Rangers home game with Dundee this weekend. Last season, he took charge of 23 Scottish Premiership games, He also officiated Celtic's 1-0 win over St Mirren last week, where he issued three yellow cards and disallowed a Callum McGregor goal for handball, following a VAR intervention. He awarded an average of 18.78 fouls per game, and 0.26 penalties per game. The most recent Rangers game he officiated was the 2-0 home defeat to Hibs in April, while he last refereed a Dundee game as recently as May, taking charge of their 3-2 away defeat at Kilmarnock. But head coach Russell Martin is keen for more as his Light Blues revolution continues. Defence seems to be an area the Ibrox boss is keen to strengthen further. He's already added right-back Max Aarons with two central defenders in Nasser Djiga and Emmanuel Fernandez being recruited as well. Aarons began the season at left-back but Martin insisted that wasn't the long term plan, hinting that a player in that position could be a priority. Ridvan Yilmaz is also likely to leave this summer. Rangers have been linked with two left-sided defenders in the past week or so, the most recent being Real Betis star Nobel Mendy. The towering 6ft2in defender is primarily a centre-back but can also play at left-back. Spanish reports on Wednesday claimed the Gers' interest in the 20-year old Senegalese ace. Now, Rangers have reportedly made a significant move in their bid to land him. Awkward moment Rangers boss Russell Martin's BBC interview is abruptly cut short as he admits 'I talk too much' Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri is reporting that the Gers have AGREED personal terms with Mendy. But they aren't the only club in the hunt. La Liga outfit Rayo Vallecano have a firm interest in Mendy and they have ALSO agreed terms with the player. It means Mendy himself now has a big decision to make about where he goes next. The report claims he will make the decision quickly. Mendy came through the youth ranks in France, making his debut for Paris FC. He joined Real Betis in 2023, initially on loan, but has spent most of the last two years playing in the club's B team. Mendy has only made two La Liga appearances as well as playing a handful of games in other competitions. He had looked set to move to PSV Eindhoven but that move is now dead. The Dutch giants couldn't force a deal through amid complicated work permit-related rules in the Netherlands. Club Brugge have also been interested but a move seemed to be dependent on the exit of Joel Ordonez from the club, but the Ecuador defender remains for now. Rangers hero cut by shard of glass after team bus attacked on way to game – before players were bottled at full-time

Alfredo Morelos has undergone a terrifying ordeal after the ex-Rangers star was wounded by flying glass on his way to a game. The Medellin club travelled by coach to play Cucuta Deportivo in a Colombian Cup tie on Tuesday. But the bus came under attack from missile-throwing yobs on the way to Cucuta's General Santander stadium. Several windows were smashed, and Morelos sustained cuts to his foot from flying shards of glass. But it didn't stop "El Bufalo" playing and scoring in the cup tie after receiving treatment. He netted the third as he helped Atletico to a 3-0 win on the night for a 4-0 aggregate success. Morelos made 269 Rangers appearances, scoring 124 goals. The visiting players were pelted with bottles at full time, and needed police to escort them to the dressing-room. Atletico coach Javier Gandolfi fumed: "It wasn't the arrival we had hoped for. We were attacked by Cucuta fans, who damaged our equipment. "They smashed four or five windows on the team bus, and two or three of my players were hit by glass and other items. Billy Dodds on signing for Chelsea, falling in love with Rangers & meeting hero Davie Cooper "This is hard to endure. Matches should only be played out on the pitch." Cucuta president Wilmar Sanchez admitted Morelos had suffered a foot injury - but maintained: "It was not serious." He added: "The Atletico bus driver deviated from the intended route before being attacked by vandals." Colombia's premier league Dimayor condemned the fan misbehaviour. The league said: "We strongly reject the acts of violence that the Atletico Nacional team bus suffered on its way to the General Santander Stadium in Cucuta."
