Xavier Cooks suspended for potential doping violation ahead of Sydney Kings' NBL post-season
Basketball Australia announced Tuesday that Cooks, a former NBL MVP who played 10 games for the Washington Wizards before being waived by the NBA team in 2023, was suspended immediately following notification of an adverse analytical finding under the Australian National Anti-Doping Policy.
The announcement was made two days before the Kings take on Adelaide.
Cooks, 29, played in Japan's B League before rejoining the Kings this season, where he has averaged 15.4 points and 8.7 rebounds.
Basketball Australia said there'd be no further comment from Cooks, the NBL or the Kings.

Montrell Johnson - hamstring Johnson is working through a hamstring injury, which forced him to observe Thursday's preseason opener against the Bengals from the sidelines. He signed with the Eagles as an undrafted free agent in late April, so an extended absence hurts his chances of making the 53-man roster at the end of training camp. Byron Young - groin Young has been battling a groin injury, but returned to practice. LIMITED Zack Baun - back Baun has been listed as limited after missing seven practices with a back injury. He hasn't participated in team drills. But has been in shoulder pads. AJ Brown - hamstring Brown left practice a week ago Friday with a hamstring injury and missed four practices as well as the preseason opener vs. the Bengals.

Sacramento Kings' Jonathan Kuminga Trade Offer Unveiled
Most of the NBA offseason activity has already occurred, yet restricted free agent Jonathan Kuminga is still waiting to learn which team he'll be playing for. Returning to the Golden State Warriors doesn't seem to be an option, despite him being a restricted free agent. Meanwhile, the Warriors would prefer to get something in return for the former No. 7 overall pick, rather than see him leave and get nothing at all. A few teams have registered interest in making a trade with the Warriors, including the Sacramento Kings. While previous reports indicated that the Warriors would do just about anything to prevent trading Kuminga to their in-state rival, they may not have much of a choice. Recently, Clutch Points' Brett Siegel revealed exactly what the Kings' trade offer for Kuminga is. According to Siegel, they're willing to offload last year's first-round pick Devin Carter, plus Dario Saric, and a protected future first-round pick if it means getting Kuminga in return. Unfortunately, the Warriors have no interest in that offer. 'The Kings have signaled that they are willing to part ways with talents like Devin Carter, Dario Saric, and a protected first-round pick for the Warriors' forward. This is a proposal that Golden State has not given any thought to and immediately turned down. Malik Monk is another name who has come up in trade talks from Sacramento this offseason, but his contract isn't one that the Dubs have expressed interest in.' Clutch Points' Brett Siegel Meanwhile, Siegel notes that the Warriors have shown some interest in Keegan Murray and Keon Ellis, though it's not yet known whether the Kings would put either player on the trade table for Kuminga.
