The professional wrestling world was shocked at the news that Hulk Hogan, real name Terry Gene Bollea, had sadly passed away at 71.
The 12-time World Champion had established himself as one of the most popular wrestlers of all-time and the biggest draws in the history of the business.

While the Hulkster has fallen under controversy in recent years, there are still countless moments that established his legacy and pro wrestling as a whole.
Here are some of Hulk Hogan's most iconic moments across WWE and WCW.

While Hulk Hogan had a plethora of iconic rivalries throughout his career, one of his best was against The Iron Sheik.
A classic tale of All-American baby face vs. foreign heel, Hogan defeated The Iron Sheik to win his first World Championship, reversing the Camel Clutch into Hogan's now iconic Atomic Leg Drop.
This would swiftly catapult Hogan as the greatest hero in the then-WWF, taking the place of Bob Backlund.
Hogan would go on to hold the WWF/WWE Championship six times, reigning for a total of 2,185 days: the second most in WWE history.
Slamming André The Giant at WrestleMania III
In any sport, there is a moment when you can tell that things have changed, like Babe Ruth calling his shot or Michael Jordan's dunk from the free throw line. For professional wrestling, this was when Hulk Hogan slammed André The Giant at WrestleMania III.
A seemingly unbeatable villain, André The Giant was billed as 7-foot-four-inches tall and over 500 pounds. Fans had no idea what to expect when Hogan
To this day, Hogan slamming André remains the iconic image of professional wrestling.
The Formation (and Break Up) of The Mega Powers
While there are many names that are Synonymous with Hulk Hogan, the first one that comes to mind is easily "Macho Man" Randy Savage.
Easily the biggest baby faces of the era, the wrestling world was blown away when Savage and Hogan joined forces to become The Mega Powers.
However, two stars shining this bright could not remain near each other without imploding, and this would eventually happen after Savage grew jealous of Hogan's friendship with his wide, Miss Elizabeth.
This would eventually result in their iconic battles at WrestleMania V, which is widely considered one of the best matches in both wrestlers' illustrious careers.

Joining The nWo
At WCW Bash at the Beach 1996, Hogan came to the ring as if he were going to help Randy Savage, Sting, and Lex Luger. Instead, he turned on the heroes, joining forces with Kevin Nash and Scott Hall.
This shocking heel turn marked the creation of arguably the most famous and popular faction in professional wrestling history: The nWo. And their effect would be felt on professional wrestling throughout the decades for better and for worse.
The Fingerpoke of Doom
While The nWo was easily the most popular thing going on in WCW, it also marked the unfortunate destruction of the company due to various issues behind the scenes. And there was one single in-ring moment that truly marked this controversy.
In a highly-anticipated match between Nash and the now-named Hollywood Hogan for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship. However, instead of a battle between two powerhouses, Hogan defeated Nash with a simple fingerpoke and pin.
To this day, the "Fingerpoke of Doom" is widely considered to be the turning point for the Monday Night Wars and the eventual demise of WCW.
Hulk Hogan's Face Off With The Rock
After WCW went bankrupt, Hogan eventually found his way back to WWE to varying levels of success. That being said, one moment stands out as not just the best moment of Hogan's career, but Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's as well.
Billed as an "Icon vs. Icon" match, this bout felt special from the moment the bell rang. As both Superstars faced each other, the crowd couldn't help but erupt in cheers and applause.
While the match itself would be a good one, this singular moment before it even started captured something special. To this day, it is considered one of the greatest moments in WrestleMania history.

Caitlin Clark injury update: Fever star to miss 14th regular-season game, remains out with right groin issue

Caitlin Clark has played in 13 games this season. The Indiana Fever superstar will now miss her 14th regular-season game, and 15th game overall since the opener. Clark was listed out for Wednesday's matchup against the Phoenix Mercury, according to IndyStar's Chloe Peterson. Clark remains sidelined with a right groin injury. The Fever announced on July 24 that further medical evaluations Clark received didn't reveal any additional injuries or damage. In the same statement, the team said that "there is no timetable available for Clark's return" and that the organization is prioritizing "her long-term health and well-being." Wednesday's game will be the fifth in a row Clark has sat out. During that span, the Iowa product also had to back out of the WNBA 3-Point Contest as well as the league's All-Star Game. While the Fever hosted All-Star Weekend, Clark still showed up to the Indianapolis festivities and helped coach the team she captained in the All-Star Game. After making it through her illustrious college career and the first season of her pro career mostly unscathed, Clark has been bit by the injury bug this year. Coming off her WNBA Rookie of the Year campaign in 2024, Clark entered her sophomore season in the W with sky-high expectations. Although she missed the preseason opener with left quad tightness, she quickly put that absence in the rear view mirror with a 20-10-10 triple-double in the first game of the regular season. But the now-two-time All-Star didn't get out of May without another injury. A left quad strain took her out of the lineup for five games between May 28 and June 10. She returned, only to then go down with a left groin injury that kept her out for four regular-season games, plus the WNBA Commissioner's Cup final, from June 26 to July 5. The right groin injury is her fourth muscle injury this season. She is averaging 16.5 points, 8.8 assists and 5.0 rebounds per game while shooting only 36.7% from the field and 27.9% from 3. Clark, normally a spectacular shooter, has particularly struggled in her last seven games, posting a sub-30% field goal percentage and an uncharacteristic 14.3% clip from beyond the arc during that window. The Fever are currently sixth in the league table with a 14-12 record. They are 6-7 without Clark in the lineup, not counting their victory over the Minnesota Lynx in the Commissioner's Cup final, which doesn't factor into the standings.

Barcelona honors Kobe Bryant with new jersey bearing brand logo

BARCELONA, Spain (AP) — Spanish soccer club Barcelona is paying tribute to NBA legend Kobe Bryant with its second uniform launched Tuesday. The five-time European champion said its new jersey will replace the usual Nike swoosh logo 'with the 'Kobe Sheath' — the sword in the sheath logo that identifies the Kobe Bryant brand.' Barcelona said the club had a special relationship with Bryant, who died in a helicopter crash in Southern California in 2020. He made appearances alongside club members and first-team players during his visits to Barcelona and when the club visited the United States. 'The shorts are black with Persian violet details and a textured snakeskin outline, a reference to the Black Mamba alter ego of Kobe,' Barcelona said. The change, made in collaboration with Nike, will last three seasons. 'All in all, it is part of a brand collaboration between the NBA legend and FC Barcelona that is born out of a shared culture of sporting excellence that characterized Bryant and is also part of FC Barcelona's DNA,' the club said. 'This agreement aims to keep alive that notion of brotherhood and at the same time create a link between Kobe fans and FC Barcelona to make the global impact of the American's legacy even greater amongst the sporting community and fans." ___ AP soccer:

Cubs introduce ceremonial patch on their uniform to honor Ryne Sandberg

MILWAUKEE (AP) — The Chicago Cubs have unveiled a ceremonial patch on their uniform in memory of Ryne Sandberg one day after the Hall of Famer's death. Sandberg, who made 10 All-Star teams with the Cubs before his retirement in 1997, died Monday at the age of 65. The blue patch has a red 23 – Sandberg's uniform number – and features his signature in white lettering. It sits over the Cubs logo on an arm sleeve. The Cubs posted a video on social media of the patch being sewn onto the uniforms before Tuesday night's game at Milwaukee. During pregame warmups, the Cubs wore T-shirts with the message, 'FO23VER.' 'It's sad because it kind of hits home I think a little more, but in the other way, you want to honor Ryno the best we can and shine a spotlight on a great life lived, for all the great things he represented as a man and as a Chicago Cub,' Cubs manager Craig Counsell said. As Sandberg fought cancer last year, the Cubs unveiled a statue outside Wrigley Field that showed the second baseman in his familiar defensive crouch. As he talked about Sandberg before Tuesday's game, Counsell looked back on that ceremony from June 2024. 'I was thinking about the day the statue was unveiled,' Counsell said. 'That's my favorite day as a Chicago Cub, just the team being there and fans in a different setting than in the ballpark, and watching Ryno and his family and knowing what he was going through and everything." Sandberg hit .285 with 282 homers, 1,061 RBIs and 344 steals in 15 years with the Cubs and was named NL MVP in 1984. The second baseman played 13 games for Philadelphia in 1981 but got traded to Chicago the following January. The Cubs also designated Chris Flexen for assignment before their matchup with the Brewers. Fellow right-hander Gavin Hollowell was recalled from Triple-A Iowa. The 31-year-old Flexen got off to a strong start this year, but he had surrendered 15 runs and 22 hits in 14 2/3 innings over his last five appearances at the time of the move. 'It wasn't a fun conversation,' Counsell said. 'It never is. Chris has been a contributor on this team. He's contributed in some big ways to this team. Sometimes it doesn't feel fair." ___ AP MLB:
