Vishnu Manchu addresses Prabhas' absence at Kannappa pre-release event, says he avoided pressuring him as he wasn't feeling well.
Vishnu Manchu's ambitious mythological film Kannappa is all set for release tomorrow, and expectations are soaring, thanks in part to the presence of superstar Prabhas. The actor plays a crucial role in this devotional epic, generating significant buzz across Telugu states. However, his absence at the pre-release event last week drew attention and sparked speculation online.
Addressing the issue at the pre-release press meet held earlier today, Vishnu offered clarity. 'My brother Prabhas is comfortable with certain things, but there are some aspects that make him feel uncomfortable," he said. 'I'm truly grateful to him for being a part of my film. I know what makes Prabhas feel uneasy, and I avoid asking him about such things."
Vishnu added that although Prabhas had intended to send a video message for the event, the plan was cancelled as he wasn't feeling well at the time. 'Even the shoot was called off. So I didn't want to trouble him further," Vishnu said, showing solidarity with his co-star.
Meanwhile, early reactions to Kannappa are coming in strong. While a few viewers found the first half slightly slow and pointed out uneven VFX, many have been blown away by the film's emotional second half and powerful climax.
Trade analyst Sumit Kadel wrote on X (formerly Twitter), 'Just watched #Kannappa and the last 30 minutes won't leave my mind. It's emotionally overpowering and gave me goosebumps."
Screenwriter Kona Venkat also praised the film, calling the final act 'truly captivating." He added that the presence of Prabhas made a significant impact.
Kannappa stars Vishnu Manchu as Thinnadu, a warrior whose devotion transforms him into Lord Shiva's greatest devotee. The film features Akshay Kumar as Lord Shiva, Prabhas as Rudra, and Mohanlal in a striking role as Kirata.
