Qatar Chamber explores stronger investment ties at Turkey forum

Qatar Chamber participated in the 6th Joint Meeting of Arab and Turkish Chambers and the Arab-Turkish Economic Forum, which were held in the city of Izmir, Turkey, on July 7–8. The events were attended by presidents and board members of Arab chambers and federations of chambers.
The Qatar Chamber delegation was headed by Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani, Chairman of the Board.
The delegation included board membersMohamed bin Mahdi Al Ahbabi, Dr Khalid bin Klefeekh Al Hajri, and Mohamed bin Ahmed Al Obaidli.The meeting was also attended byDr. Nayef bin Jassim Al-Abduljabbar, Chargé d'Affaires at the Embassy of the State of Qatar in the Republic of Turkey.
The meeting and forum addressed discussions on economic and trade cooperation between Arab countries and the Republic of Turkey, and ways to enhance such cooperation in order to increase trade exchange between both sides.The events featured a roundtable titled 'Partnership and Investment Opportunities between Arab Countries and Turkey',
along with several working sessions focusing on investment in Syria and business opportunities in Izmir, particularly in the sectors of trade, industry, and agriculture.
In a press statement on the sidelines of the forum,Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani said that this distinguished gathering represents a valuable opportunity to explore optimal ways to strengthen economic and trade cooperation, enhance investment prospects, and promote greater mutual and joint investments, both in Turkey and Arab countries.
He praised the strong and longstanding relations between Qatar and Turkey, affirming the Qatar Chamber's commitment to fostering and advancing cooperation and partnerships between Qatari and Turkish business communities.
Sheikh Khalifa also invited Turkish businessmen and investors to explore the wealth of investment opportunities available in Qatar and to benefit from its attractive investment climate, world-class infrastructure, advanced financial system, and progressive legal framework.
The event included several field visits to factories and free zones in the city of Izmir. It also featured bilateral meetings between representatives of Arab and Turkish chambers from various economic sectors.

He pointed out that there is potential to increase the volume of trade exchange between the two countries, which currently does not reflect the available capabilities nor meet our aspirations. He stressed that the private sector in both countries can play an effective role in significantly increasing trade exchange. For his part, Saud Mamoun Al Barir praised the close brotherly relations between the two nations and expressed his admiration for Qatar's economic progress and urban development. He affirmed the Sudanese Chambers Union's keenness to strengthen cooperation with Qatar Chamber and the Qatari private sector in a way that supports the development of commercial relations between the two brotherly countries.

Qatar takes part in emergency Arab League meeting on Gaza Strip crisis
QNA Cairo Qatar participated on Tuesday in an extraordinary session of the Arab League Council at the level of permanent representatives, held at the League's headquarters in Cairo, to address the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza Strip and the Israeli government's plans concerning Ibrahimi Mosque and its surroundings in the Old City of Hebron in the West Bank. Qatar's delegation was led by Ambassador of Qatar to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the Arab League HE Tariq Ali Faraj Al Ansari. Convened at the request of the State of Palestine, the meeting focused on political and diplomatic action to confront the ongoing siege and starvation tactics imposed on the Palestinian people in Gaza - practices described as tools of genocide - as well as the Israeli government's attempts to strip the Hebron municipality of its authority over the Ibrahimi Mosque and transfer it to an Israeli religious body. In remarks to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Ambassador Al Ansari stated that the meeting came against the backdrop of dangerous escalation by the Israeli occupation in the Palestinian territories. He stressed that one of the core issues discussed was the Israeli attempt to seize administrative control over the Ibrahimi Mosque, which is currently managed by the Hebron municipality and the Palestinian Ministry of Awqaf (Religious Endowments). He stated that this attempt to transfer authority to an Israeli religious entity constitutes a blatant violation of international law, the obligations of the occupying power, and multiple international agreements. Al Ansari emphasised the sensitive nature of the Ibrahimi Mosque issue, noting that such actions fuel hatred and contravene numerous resolutions passed by UN General Assembly, UN Security Council, various regional organisations, and UNESCO, which granted the site global heritage and historical status. He added that the second core issue addressed in the emergency session was the siege and starvation policy being imposed by the Israeli entity on the Palestinian population - measures that have added have reached inhumane and unprecedented levels in modern history. He described these acts as war crimes and part of a deliberate policy of genocide, in violation of the Geneva Conventions and the obligations of the occupying power. Al Ansari said the discussion focused on both of these critical issues with the aim of issuing outcomes that hold the international community accountable and urge the UN Security Council to take action, adding that there is also responsibility on all regional organisations, specialised UN agencies, and key international actors, including the five permanent members of the Security Council. The emergency session also touched on preparations for upcoming Arab dialogues with Japan and Russia, including an anticipated ministerial meeting with Japan as part of Arab Troika, and Arab-Russian summit currently being planned for October 15.

Qatar attends 56th regular session of Arab Permanent Committee on Human Rights
QNA Cairo The State of Qatar participated in the 56th regular session of the Arab Permanent Committee on Human Rights, which began on Monday at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States in Cairo. Qatar was represented at the session by Acting Director of Human Rights Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sara Abdullah Al Saadi. The session was also attended by the National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) of Qatar in an observer capacity, represented by Secretary-General of NHRC Sultan bin Hassan Al Jamali. The session also included participation from representatives of government bodies concerned with human rights in the member states, as well as relevant entities within the Arab joint action system. During the session, discussions focused on addressing Israeli violations and racist practices in the occupied Arab territories, as well as issues concerning Arab prisoners and detainees in Israeli prisons, and the remains of Palestinian and Arab martyrs held by the occupation authorities in 'cemeteries of numbers'. The session also approved the theme for the Arab Human Rights Day 2026, which is observed annually on March 16. The recommendations issued by the 56th regular session of the Arab Permanent Committee on Human Rights, held under the chairmanship of Chairman of the Arab Permanent Committee for Human Rights Ambassador Talal Khaled Al-Mutairi, will be submitted to the 164th regular session of the Council of the League of Arab States at the ministerial level, scheduled for next September, for consideration and adoption.
