Andre Onana not convinced he'll still be a Man Utd player next season

Metro12 hours ago

Andre Onana has cast major doubt on his Manchester United future, admitting he 'doesn't know' if he will still be at the club next season.
The Cameroon international endured another unconvincing season at Old Trafford marked by a series of high-profile errors that have sparked suggestions his days at Old Trafford could be numbered.
Reports have suggested Ruben Amorim is open to replacing the former Inter Milan star this summer with Saudi Arabian clubs interested in offering him a route out of Manchester.
United have been linked with possible replacements in Eintracht Frankfurt's Kaua Santos while recent reports have suggested Aston Villa's Emiliano Martinez is eager to join the club.
Onana appeared at an event in Burkina Faso where he was quizzed on his future by journalist Stéphane Bassalia Ouattara.

''Will I leave? I don't know, we'll see!' Onana said, Actu Cameroun report.
Onana was signed by United in 2023 for a fee of £47million to serve as the long-term replacement for David de Gea.
While he has produced some stunning stops during his time in Manchester, twice shortlisted for the Premier League Save of the Season in the 2024-25 campaign, his efforts have often been undermined by inexplicable errors.
Onana made a number of glaring mistakes in United's doomed Champions League campaign during his first season at the club.
Mistakes against Viktoria Plzen, Brighton, Nottingham Forest and Ipswich further undermined his position last term, also at fault for both goals in United's 2-2 draw with Lyon in their run to the Europa League final.
Onana's high-risk playing style is often criticised but the goalkeeper has remained defiant over his abilities and approach.
Onana also clashed with former United midfielder Nemanja Matic after commenting United are 'way better' than Lyon heading into their Europa League game – comments that saw the label him 'the worst goalkeeper in the club's history'. More Trending
I don't know to say that you need to have cover for something like that,' said the former United and Chelsea midfielder when asked for his assessment of Onana's bold statement. 'I respect everyone then you need to give the answer.
'If you are one of the worst goalkeepers in Man United history then you need to take care what you are talking about.
'If David de Gea, or Van der Saar or Peter Schmeichel say that then I would question that.
'But if you are statistically one of the worst goalkeepers in Man United's history then he needs to show that before he says it. We will see.'

Bayern Munich vs Auckland City Club World Cup prediction, odds and betting offer

Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich face Auckland City with the New Zealand-based looking to cause one of the biggest upsets in world football Safe to say this will be one of the biggest mismatches in the competition as Bayern Munich face Auckland in the Club World Cup as the two sides go head-to-head at the TQL Stadium in Cincinnati. Bayern Munich are entering their first group stage match as the clear favourites, poised to take on Auckland City - who are a huge 200/1 odds to cause one of the biggest upsets in world football. Despite Auckland City's impressive record as Oceania's most successful team, having clinched 11 of the last 13 OFC Champions League titles, the difference in calibre between the two sides is stark. Auckland City operates as an amateur club, with players receiving a modest weekly stipend of about $90 to cover basic expenses. Given these circumstances, it's no surprise that there's a buzz of excitement within the Auckland squad as they gear up for what promises to be a unique and memorable occasion. As Bayern Munich prepare for this tournament, they've been bolstered by the return of Dayot Upamecano and Jamal Musiala to training following extended injury absences. The plan is to reintroduce both players gradually into competitive play during the Club World Cup. Additionally, Bayern have reinforced their lineup with two strategic early summer acquisitions: Jonathan Tah from Bayer Leverkusen and Tom Bischof from Hoffenheim. Both players are eligible and have been included in Bayern's squad for the Club World Cup, adding further depth to their already formidable team. Man Utd made Osimhen decision hours before Gyokeres gave final answer

Manchester United have eyed up both Victor Osimhen and Viktor Gyokeres this summer with the Sporting Lisbon star now rejecting the chance to move to Old Trafford Manchester United opened discussions with Victor Osimhen over a summer move to Old Trafford - only to find out shortly after that Viktor Gyokeres has rejected the opportunity to reunite with Ruben Amorim. The Red Devils are in the market for more firepower this summer and have several frontmen on their shortlist. Osimhen and Gyokeres have both been under consideration such has been their prolific nature in recent years. ‌ Footmercato claimed the Premier League side have opened discussions with Osimhen, but were still expected to pursue the signing of Gyokeres from Sporting Lisbon. Reports in Portugal now claim the Swede has turned down the chance to move to Manchester with his agents informing United chiefs of their decision. ‌ Gyokeres is ready to pursue a new challenge and has threatened strike action to force through a move away. He said on Instagram: "There is a lot of talks at the moment, most of it is false. I will speak when the time is right." Last term the Swede, who has played in England with the likes of Coventry and Swansea, broke the 50 goal barrier in Portugal. Across his two seasons he's come up with almost 100 goals. Osimhen meanwhile has just spent the year on loan in Turkey, helping Galatasaray claim the league title. He scored 37 times to further put himself in the shop window. Neither he nor Gyokeres will be sold on the cheap as Arsenal also eye the Sporting star. Sporting president Frederico Varandas has said: "One thing you should already know is me better. Threats, blackmail and insults don't work with me. I can guarantee that Viktor Gyökeres will not leave for €60m+10m (£51m+£8.5m) because I never promised him that. This game that the agent is playing only makes the situation worse. To this day, Sporting has not had an offer for Viktor Gyökeres, neither today nor last season." Former United star Rio Ferdinand has said this week that the club should've prioritised a move for Osimhen ahead of Gyokeres with the Nigerian no longer wanted by Napoli despite his impressive strike rate in the final third. ‌ He said: "I think Gyokeres, everyone's talking about him. Again, I think if I'm looking at the market now and I had to pick him or Osimhen, I'd probably pick Osimhen because of that experience." "And he's shown he's done it in multiple leagues now. And he's done it internationally as well. I think he's a top-class number nine who, again, the young players will be able to learn from. I'm not saying that Gyokeres would fail. I'm just saying that if I had a preference, I would go there."

Arsenal urged to sign Man City star after £36m Rayan Cherki transfer

Arsenal have been urged to make a move for Phil Foden following Rayan Cherki's move to Manchester City. City have significantly strengthened ahead of the Club World Cup with the signings of Cherki, Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Ait-Nouri. Cherki arrives at City in a €42.5 million (£36.1m) deal from Lyon following an impressive season in Ligue 1. The 21-year-old also caught the eye with his first two senior appearances for France's national side last week. Cherki primarily played on the right side of Lyon's attack which raises questions over Foden's place in the City team under Pep Guardiola. City are already looking to sell Jack Grealish this summer but former Chelsea, Marseille and Republic of Ireland striker Tony Cascarino believes Foden may also be on the move. When asked if he believes Arsenal would make a move for Grealish, Cascarino told talkSPORT: 'No, I think Foden's way more likely. 'Obviously Arteta worked at Man City with Phil Foden and for whatever reason, I'm sure we'll find out down the line, Phil Foden just hasn't been the player we know him to be this season. More Trending 'From where he was the Football Writers' Player of the Year the season before, his performances this year have just not justified that. 'But all what's happening at City and all the spending that's gone on, I wouldn't be surprised if Foden is allowed to go somewhere. 'Whether City let him go Arsenal, I don't know, but they let Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko go there. 'If Arsenal could get him, I think Arteta would really consider that, yeah.'
