Dog 'Literally Cries' While Begging for Treat—and There's a Good Reason

Internet viewers have been awed by a dog "manipulating" his owners into giving him a treat as he cried real tears while begging.
Bruno the boxer dog is 6 years old, and has been with his owner, Hannah Fouts, 26, since he was 5 months old, when she rescued him and they became "inseparable."
"He has gone to college with me, moved to a new state with me, and everything in
between," Fouts, originally from Pennsylvania but now living in North Carolina, told Newsweek.
Having such a close bond with her dog would already make it difficult for Fouts to say no to him—but he has a special quirk that makes it practically impossible not to give him what he wants.
That quirk? Bruno cries when he is begging for food.
"His hobbies include staring into your soul when you open the fridge; giving side-eye that deserves its own Oscar; and, of course, his excellent tear performance," Fouts said.
And this performance has gone viral, after Fouts shared a clip to her TikTok account @bruntheboxer on July 2 showing Bruno begging for a slice of banana—with tears leaking from his eyes.
In the video, viewed more than 11.5 million times, a man eats a banana while Bruno stands beside him, giving puppy-dog eyes. And as he licks his lips and stares at the treat, tears come rolling down his cheeks—until, finally, Bruno is given a piece of banana.

"How are we supposed to say no when he literally cries," Fouts wrote over the video, adding in the caption: "He was gonna get a piece either way but the tears really sold it."
TikTok users had a huge reaction to the clip, liking it more than 2.3 million times, as one described it as the "manipulation final boss."
"I've never seen a dog actually cry … he'd get his way every time with me," another posted, as a third commented: "I didn't know dogs could do that omg [oh my God]."
Many concerned commenters urged Fouts to take Bruno to the vet; one wrote, "it's a result of an eye infection or something else," and another added: "He has an eye infection. Dogs do not cry."
And as Fouts told Newsweek, Bruno's heart-renching tears are, in fact, the result of an unusual condition, having been diagnosed with Keratoconjunctivitis sicca (KCS), also known as dry eye.
KCS causes decreased tear production in dogs. Tears are needed for lubrication, comfort and health of a dog's eyes, and symptoms of KCS can range from redness and swelling to vision impairment and blindness, according to a vet-reviewed report from PetMD.
Fouts tried every medication available, but when nothing worked, Bruno underwent a surgery that rerouted part of his saliva gland into his eyes, "to work as a natural substitute for tears to keep the eyes moist."

The surgery worked, but it came with an interesting side effect: "When he smells food, his saliva glands start working really well, causing him to produce a lot of saliva and 'cry' tears," Fouts said.
This is an expected side effect of the surgery, but, in Bruno's case, things got even stranger—if he gets excited or hungry, he would produce so much saliva in his eyes that he would temporarily lose his sight.
"After he settles down, he gets his vision back, but he has run into a fair amount of walls and accidentally walked into many pools," Fouts said. She added that he "belongs in the vet textbooks" because it appears this side effect is uniquely Bruno's.
As Fouts put it: "Long story short, he took puppy eyes to a whole other level!"

Plane passenger tries to outsmart airline's luggage rule by doing the unthinkable with her suitcase: ‘She's so real for that'
They told her to check the bag — she checked them instead. A fierce flyer is going viral for muscling her suitcase into a carry-on sizer at a European airport — leaving airline staff stunned when the bag actually fit. The now-legendary shove came courtesy of TikTok user Arina (@summermken_official), who posted a video of herself forcefully wedging her luggage into a metal bag checker at the Vueling counter during a recent flight from Paris to London. 'Never give up, at least not on the sake of €200,' she wrote in the caption — and the internet agreed. The clip has racked up more than 10 million views since it was posted on July 22. 'They asked me to place my bag in the checker to confirm it met size requirements,' Arina told Newsweek. 'It seemed that they were just suspicious of the size of my bag since it didn't seem like carry-on luggage.' The Spanish low-cost carrier, like many budget airlines, has earned a reputation for eagle-eyed enforcement of size rules — and for slapping on sky-high baggage fees. Vueling charges up to €88 (about $96) at the airport if your bag doesn't fit their requirements. 'I was 100% sure that it would fit […] plus I measured it before buying and it fit the standards of the company,' she told the outlet. What followed was a now-iconic suitcase showdown: Arina is seen in the clip straining to push her bag into the checker — and then yanking it out with just as much effort. The Vueling employee? Gobsmacked. 'She seemed quite surprised that the suitcase actually fit,' Arina said. 'She said, with genuine shock, that I must be very strong… she clearly didn't expect it to fit at all.' TikTokers applauded her persistence — and side-eyed the airline. Spain's stingy sky carrier is notorious for hawk-eyed bag checks and nickel-and-diming travelers with sky-high luggage fees. Viacheslav Yakobchuk – 'Her face, that's 'I told you' face,' wrote one viewer in the comments section. 'She's so real for that,' another chimed in. 'Bro that's small carry-on too, I hate airlines,' added an additional user. As previously reported by The Post, one Ryanair passenger broke down in tears this week at Sofia Airport after being denied boarding when her bag wouldn't fit the airline's size limits. Despite shoving it into the sizer, she refused to pay extra, pleaded with border police, and ultimately collapsed to her knees sobbing as staff looked on. Overall, when it comes to budget flights, it's bend or break — and these women did both.

"Um, Donald Is So Hot Right Now": People Are Losing Their Minds After Donald Trump Jr. Weirdly Swooned Over His Own Dad
Donald Trump Jr. made an attempt to diss the left by calling his dad 'hot' in an AI-generated image of his father parodying Sydney Sweeney's controversial American Eagle ad campaign. 'That Hanse.... Um, Donald is so hot right now!!!,' he wrote in a post featuring an AI image of President Donald Trump posing on the floor wearing a denim outfit. The caption was a reference to Owen Wilson's character Hansel McDonald in Zoolander. Although Donald Trump Jr.'s weird comment was made as a joke, this was not the first time he has said something uncomfortable about a family member. In a TikTok video posted last year, the president's son referred to his daughter Kai as 'sexy' while the two were getting prepared for the Republican National Convention. In the video, he asked Kai, then 17, if wearing makeup would make him 'sexy like you.' @DonaldTrumpJr / Via Though he was presumably kidding around, many people nevertheless found it a very odd word for a father to call his underaged daughter. The president has also made some uncomfortable comments about his own daughter Ivanka. In 2004 he gave radio host Howard Stern permission to call her a 'piece of ass,' and stated on ABC's The View in 2006 that 'if Ivanka weren't my daughter, perhaps, I would be dating her.' Miles Taylor, who served as Department of Homeland Security chief of staff under Donald Trump, claimed in his book that the president talked about his daughter's 'breasts, her backside, and what it might be like to have sex with her.' Donald Trump Jr.'s unsettling AI-generated post was a spoof of American Eagle's recent ad campaign featuring Sweeney, 27. The ads have received backlash online after some accused them of having racist undertones and promoting eugenics. In one ad, Sweeney, a white woman with blue eyes and blond hair, is shown lying down as the camera pans sideways to show her zipping up her jeans as she narrates about genetic traits. sydney sweeneh for american eagle — best of sydney sweeney (@sydneyfiles) July 25, 2025 @sydneyfiles / American Eagle 'Genes are passed down from parents to offspring, often determining traits like hair color, personality and even eye color. My jeans are blue,' Sweeney says before the screen promotes the tagline 'Sydney Sweeney has great jeans,' a pun on the word 'genes.' The campaign sparked outrage online as some began calling it an alt-right dog whistle. 'The American Eagles ad wasn't just a commercial. It was a love letter to white nationalism and eugenic fantasies, and Sydney Sweeney knew it,' activist influencer Zellie Imani said on X. The American Eagles ad wasn't just a commercial. Texas Senator Ted Cruz said the 'Left' criticizing Sweeney's ads won't poll well. 'Wow. Now the crazy Left has come out against beautiful women,' Cruz wrote on X. So you like the blondes, Ted? — Matthew T. Galati (@MGImmigration) July 29, 2025 X The senator was quickly reminded about the time he liked a hardcore porn video featuring a blond adult actress on Twitter. Donald Trump's communications director, Steven Cheung, chimed in on the controversy, calling it 'Cancel culture run amok.' Cancel culture run amok. This warped, moronic, and dense liberal thinking is a big reason why Americans voted the way they did in 2024. They're tired of this bullshit. — Steven Cheung (@StevenCheung47) July 29, 2025 X 'This warped, moronic, and dense liberal thinking is a big reason why Americans voted the way they did in 2024. Singer slams Trump administration for using her song to promote deportations
The singer behind the summer's viral TikTok sound is speaking out against its latest adopter: the Trump administration. Jess Glynne, the 35-year-old British singer whose 2015 song "Hold My Hand" plays in the background of the U.K. budget airline Jet2's widely parodied commercial, hit back against the White House's decision to get in on the social media trend. "This post honestly makes me sick. My music is about love, unity, and spreading positivity – never about division or hate," the Grammy-winning artist wrote in a July 30 Instagram story. The message was written next to a screenshot of the White House's post, whose caption read "When ICE books you a one-way Jet2 holiday to deportation. ✈️🎶 Nothing beats it!" In the Trump administration's video, people are escorted out of a van and marched onto a plane while their hands and ankles are handcuffed. Though federal agents' faces are blurred, the detainees' faces are not. USA TODAY has reached out to Jet2 for comment. The 2024 Jet2 TV commercial, which has blown up on TikTok with nearly 2 million videos using the audio, features British actress Zoë Lister heartily declaring, "Nothing beats a Jet2 holiday. And right now, you can save £50 per person! That's £200 off for a family of four." Know your meme: The Jet2 holiday audio, explained In an interview with NBC News, Lister called the trend "really funny and joyful." Many users feature the upbeat sound in their videos juxtaposing it with a horrifying vacation incident or a funny, candid moment. One post depicts a traveler standing in a construction zone after allegedly being stranded in Croatia because their hotel "hasn't actually been built yet." Another shows a person spraying a fire extinguisher around an airport terminal after attempting to sneak on an airplane. President Donald Trump has vowed to carry out mass deportations of unauthorized immigrants, citing threats to public safety. However, there are reports of people, including schoolchildren, farm workers, and those who are married to U.S. citizens and legal permanent residents without criminal records also being targeted by the Department of Homeland Security.
